why aren't these teams learning from the A-Rod contract(s)

Long term contracts never work out but you gotta look at what age most MLB players are signed their long term contracts. Stanton is younger.

Can't stand him but take A-Rod's first 10 year contract. If he didn't opt out, it would've went from the 2001-2010 seasons. During those seasons he avg 42 HR, 170 hits, 123 RBIs, .298 batting average, and 151 games played.

Crazy Stat of Day: From 1999-2008, Marlins COMBINED Opening Day payroll was about $328M.
If deal is agreed to, MIA will pay Stanton $325M.
 
Peter Gammons tweeted Jays got Russell Martin for "McCann money"... I'm guessing 5 years, $80+ mil contract then
