Don't the Phillies have a 3rd baseman they can shop? They got Franco who is a top ten prospect and their current is Cody Asche who has potential and is still only 24. Mariners have a rising 3rd base prospect in Patrick Kivelhan, but they obviously just signed Seager long-term.

There's options...You just have to trust the scouting and take a chance. I'd go that route instead of overpaying some of these guys.

They don't wanna trade either of them. There was talk of moving Cody Asche to the OF but he's sticking at 3B for now. And they're hoping to get rid of Howard and have Franco play 1B.

Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Jonathan Sanchez, Ryan Vogelsong, Sergio Romo, Brian Wilson.

Buster Posey, Brandon Belt, Joe Panik, Brandon Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, Travis Ishikawa and the entire bench(Duffee, Susac and Perez) this year were all home grown players.
