Man Andruw was one of the best defensive CF's ever, was a pretty good hitter for the majority of his career, but I'm not sure he'll get in. Maybe after a few tries? Seems like the way his career tailed off might be held against him. I'd vote him in though if I had voting power. Same with Larry Jones.
Oh I am totally with you there.  I think there is little to no chance that Andruw gets in.  And quite frankly, its a joke that he wont get in.

5 All Star games

10 CONSECUTIVE Gold Gloves in center field

434 career homeruns

Hitting .400 with 2 jacks in the World Series as a 19 year old

@RyGuy45 I can respect that opinion but I'll stand by mine that all of those guys deserve a plaque.

Seth (NY)

What are your thoughts on Bill Maddon saying he would not vote for Piazza because a few players told him he did steriods and he wanted to wait to see if any further evidence came out to confirm that comment? Under that theory why would anyone vote for a player in their first 5 or so years on the ballot because you should wait for evidence that may not ever come out to become public.
Klaw (1:14 PM)

I don't agree in the least with Madden's statements - nor do I think he should be running there with the "a few players told me" thing unless he's going to name names. But we're talking about a writer who willingly crossed a picket line of his colleagues; he and I clearly don't share the same values.

Best hitting catcher deserves in the hall of fame . The obvious users like canseco, big Mac, Clemons , etc. don't. Can't leave piazza out based on speculation

Another gem:

Zachary D Manprin (Baltimore, MD)

I don't want to beat a dead horse but among the more asinine stories this week was Paul Hoynes referring to Pedro Martinez as a 'punk' on the mound. At some point the BBWAA need to review how many punks are voting.
Klaw (2:02 PM)

Well, Hoynes forgot to send in his ballot, so no harm, no foul.

"Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and countless others have admitted they used amphetamines during their careers. If they used today and were caught, they would be suspended under baseball's rules. I don't know anyone who wants to think about pulling those beloved players out of the Hall, even though one of the few studies ever done on PED use showed that amphetamines clearly enhance athletic performance."

i say let them all in except clemons cause well **** him the union and selling let them use peds just let them all in

I don't even bother with that argument anymore. It's been beaten to death that there has been cheating since the 1900's in baseball. Some cheating is overlooked because the guys at the forefront were nice guys who were great with the media and fans and some are looked down on because the guys who did are the leading men who used are ******** and hated by fans.

It is what it is at this point. You're either smart enough to realize that or just choose to ignore facts.

scuffing the ball, using vaseline, there's always been guys trying to get an edge in baseball. unless you're betting on the game to lose like Shoeless, I don't even care anymore.

I wonder if the first domino that needs to fall for the Bonds, McGwire, Sosa's to get in is one, Pete, Rose.

Have MLB shut the hell up, and let the guy in, and then from there I think we could see people be quiet and start to let in the PED "tainted" ones in.

I could be reaching, but just seems they are waiting for something like that to go down, like as long as MLB holds its grudge, they can hold theirs. Iono.

As terrible as it is for me to say, I am almost hoping that some report comes out that a very respected current Hall of Famer was on steroids for his entire career.

I just would love to see what the results of that happening would be.  Like, say, Cal Ripken is found out to have been doing steroids his entire career.  What then?

exactly this. was talking to a coworker about this. one current HOF'er needs to get busted so these guys can get in.

although most of these stubborn *** writers might not change their view

The HOF will continue to be a joke as long as they have these sportswriters playing the role of god. I'm still in shock that Craig Biggio made it in. He wasn't even the 2-3rd best player on his team. Jeff Kent who probably is, as much as I hate to say, one of the best second basemen of all time only got 15% of the votes required??? You serious???

P.S. Keep Bud out of the Hall too as long as Pete Rose and the roiders are out as well

 Cal is always funny to me when it comes to these idiots who say "look how big he is, he had to be on roids". This guy played 2,000+ games in a row in the heart of the era but never had a shot thrown his way (which is the way it should be). But Jeff Bagwell has big forearms so he was on the juice and is on the outs.

I'm disappointed in all of you. All this useless talk over the HoF and no one brings up the sick new Padres unis? :smh:

Biggio also looks way more jacked than Bagwell.
