It all comes down to money on both of those deals. IIRC, Longo is still only at $11mm the next couple of years and he's signed until 2023 but those last couple years are killer...$18mm at 35 and $19mm at 36. So you wonder how much they'll get back because they won't pay anything if their history sticks.

Tulo, I get a feeling they'll pay a good portion and get back a good amount of prospects.
I'd trade for Longo. Move Rendon back to 2B. By the time Longo's worst $ years come into play Zimmerman and Werth's contracts will both be off the books. However, during this period we'll have to pay Harper, Rendon, Strasburg, and others as well.

Harper is coming to the Giants when his contract is up!  He loves San Francisco!

Not srs.

Well, kinda srs.

Actually, I am dead srs.

Harper in orange and black!

It's possible. He has stated that he loves SF. He's also made it known that he loves the Yankees, Cubs, and Red Sox. Pretty much, whoever gives him the most money is where he'll end up, and I doubt it'd be SF.

I would be SOOOOOO BLOWN if he left the nats

As would I, but his agent is Scott Boras...he won't sign an extension and depending on what Mike Trout gets he'll probably want more even if he doesn't deserve it.

I think trout got like 8 150 buying out all his arbitration years and like 3 free agent years

Basically Harper is gonna have to negotiate before trout

Harp becomes a free agent in 2019. Trout becomes a free agent in 2021. And from 2018-2020 the Angels will be paying him $34M/year. Harper will be able to negotiate before him.

15 not old enough to lift? Every football coach in high school is

I do recognize that most HS baseball players are lazier when it comes to weights. Everybody can't be Bryce :pimp:

I legit laughed yesterday when I read 15 isn't old enough to lift weights.

A little late to the party, but definitely go a chuckle out of that comment.

A good program will burn all that baby fat, however, baseball players are loafers when it comes to the weight room.

Source: Evan Gattis traded to Astros.

The Houston Astros have acquired slugger Evan Gattis in a trade with the Atlanta Braves, a source confirmed to ESPN's Jim Bowden.

The rebuilding Braves received three minor-league prospects -- right-hander Mike Foltynewicz, third baseman Rio Ruiz and right-hander Andrew Thurman -- in the trade, which is pending physicals, according to the source.

Evan Gattis hit 43 home runs in just 213 career games with the Braves.
Gattis was in Houston on Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Gattis, 28, has 43 home runs in just 213 career games with the Braves. He burst onto the scene as a relative unknown in 2013 and became one of the most popular players among Atlanta's fan base.

The right-handed Gattis, who has played catcher, first base and left field, will join an emerging Astros lineup that already features All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve, promising outfielder George Springer and slugger Chris Carter, who had 37 homers last season.

The deal marks the latest in a busy offseason for the Braves, who also have traded away star outfielders Jason Heyward and Justin Upton following a disappointing 79-83 season.

wow....didn't see that coming. Barely watch the Astros so I'll miss seeing him play

Wonder what bullpen arm Rizzo is gonna go after now. Clip has been one of the best setup men in the game the last 3 years.

i wouldnt even mind i dont want desmonds next contract hes gonna be gettin paid til 36-37 at the very least at ss....
I agree. For the money he wants, he won't be worth it. Doesn't have a good approach at the plate and can be shaky on D. I don't think he'll age well so I'd rather not give him $100M+. Trea Turner can now develop in the minors while we have Escobar under control for the next 3 years.
