He also spoke about 13 teams he has assembled, zero rookies have made opening day. Spoke of Hanley, Lester, Pedroia, Papelbon, etc etc.

No one said **** about them. Or any of these other ones, just Bryant.

Trout didn't start opening day.

Hmmmmm, maybe cause it's business and not baseball.

He was lying through his damn teeth. If you can't see that, you're beyond naive.

He said numerous times it was baseball, not business. We're not children, just tell the damn truth. That goes for all GMs, not just Theo(yes I know his title isn't GM). Luhnow did the same dog and pony show with Springer.

Business is baseball. Theo has also mentioned not wanting the rookies to face that kind of hoopla in an opening day/night setting.

He typically brings them up on the road, away from home crowds so they can acclimate as normal as possible.

I can't remember for sure, but I think I read that April 20th or so we play at Pittsburgh. That might be the call up date, on the road, as regular as possible. I remember Baez opened at Colorado last year. Not sure about the Red Sox guys he mentioned.

He's doing his job, baseball is his business, he's running it the right way. Period. People that have a problem with it are just plain dumb.

The logic of him starting the season in the minors is easy to comprehend, and I don't really think anyone is arguing against it.

My biggest problem is with the service time. Having to send a guy to the minors for 12 days to have control for an extra year is ridiculous for the game. It needs to be revamped.

And like I've said from going through it with players on the Astros, listening to GMs rationalize keeping guys in the minors is just a spewing fountain of BS.

It's the right move for business, but not the right way for baseball. There shouldn't be any deterrence for having your best 25 players on the roster.

Business does not equal baseball. Not saying right or wrong in this situation but all in all the business side doesn't always jive with the sport side

Eh. Boras was spewin "Baseball needs its best players in the game"

He's never taken a single pitch in the majors.

Zero.

Hope. Promise. Potential. Sure.

But "best players" without playing one second of an actual game? Miss me with that bull ****.

If he rakes for two weeks in the minors, he's in. But if he struggles (which he will at some point) none of these loud mouths gonna say they were wrong, Theo was right, etc.

His track record of bringing talent along is quite strong, for well over a decade, much more than Boras, or me, or any other keyboard GM's.

Like I said, all your *****ing, you ain't said **** about a single other prospect, just Bryant. :rolleyes

For the GM/President it does.

Sport side 12 days in April is not > Sport side full year during prime of a player's career.

What folks are arguing is the equivalent of rookie Strasburg should pitch with a torn elbow for two extra weeks rather than get surgery and have a longer career.

The 2015 Cubs do not need 12 extra days of Bryant. It's really simple. ****, Rizzo can sit for 12 days in April, wouldn't bother a soul.

A player who hits .320 with 40 bombs in AA/AAA doesn't need to play another inning of minor league baseball.

Just read David Ortiz's latest pity party on the player's tribune. What a pile of ****. Still complaining and begging to be in the HOF.

I love how this guy tries to make it seem as if passing a drug test means something. We just had a buch of players get caught because of a rat. They passed the testing that is so hard and much better.,

Idk about that. One, Ortiz test results were never suppose to be released. Two, the type of stuff he was using were products from GNC/ viatam shops so give me a break if you think that's comparible to what Arod or someone did. The man is 39 and has been highly productive & arguably the best DH of all time for 12-13 years consistley. He also has 3 rings and has ridiculous post season stats, he deserves more respect IMO.

No way Ortiz beef is totally legitimate.

It's ridiculous how MLB ****** him over, revealing something that was supposed to be private then no revealing the alleged substance. If your employer did something like that you would lose your mind.

I feel bad for him because there are real idiots out there who think there is some pill that can take you from league average starter to HOF level talent. :smh:

People exaggerate this, he got a full time gig later in his career.

his best year were from 27-30.

Thats pretty much league average, most players throughout history peak at those ages.

Ryan Howard has had a similar career path,/peak years. but no one questions him.

howard was blocked by thome right?

i mean me personally, i like ortiz so i dont care i have no problems with him or how his career got to where it is.

i was a big fan of those early red sox world series teams.

Listening to the radio, and the hosts were discussing Cosart gambling on sports.

Apparently Carlos Lee would bet on horses, and would walk back into the clubhouse to check the races on his laptop.

Another Astro, who they didn't name, had enough of it and then proceeded to smash his laptop with a bat.

Wait, Ortiz deserves more respect? You can't be serious. Guy gets mad love and his name isn't brought up enough when you hear about Alex, Manny or the steroid years. He gets a pass for some reason which is complete ********.

MLB ****** him over by revealing his name? It's funny, I don't hear anyone say that about the other players or even Alex. That list was never supposed to come out but MLB ****** over Ortiz and not Alex.

Ortiz got severely screwed over by MLB. This is really no comparison to A-Rod's situation.

Care to explain? Alex's steroid info was leaked by the MLB when it wasn't supposed to be. Now what has happened in the last 2-4 years is on him but Alex got SEVERELY screwed by baseball.

I'm tired of Ortiz always crying about something. This guy always has a problem. I see why other players have complained about him. Old fat *** diva.

And while we're talking about players getting screwed, Bonds got screwed. Ortiz is still the mayor of Boston and a fan favorite. His reputation is fine.
