The Cards definitely have the pitching staff to contend with Wainwright back.  but there's not much pop in that lineup... what will they get from Freese in a full season?  will Berkman have another great year?
%*%! them, regardless.

Add can Carp stay healthy another year after a long postseason run.

And then cosign that last part, multiple times.

And Pro, I was just saying that such is our luck of the timing.  If not for Theo, this year we would be loading up for just this year to try and steal a down division.  Certainly I get Theo is helping us in the longer run.  I know that full well.  Just lamenting the timing of it is all.

Even with Wainwright, he won't be back to his normal & dominant self right away. Maybe not even this year. Their offense will be fine without Pujols. Maybe a step or two back but they still have a very solid lineup + no more TLR to tinker with it everyday.

No he won't and I don't see the Reds winning the central next year either.

I'll let you be a homer if you don't think that Votto will easily be able to command that amount of money if he keeps his play up.

How am I being a homer? I'm not talking about the Tigers here. You better hope Votto doesn't command anywhere near that amount or he will bolt your team. Last time I checked the Cardinals were defending champions and with Wainwright returning I can't see them not winning that crappy division.

They simply wouldn't give him the years/money he wanted. It was all sealed when Braun got his extension. Also, that team is going to crash and burn in a year or two
laugh.gif
I'm sure he saw that coming too.

Clearly I know he will bolt if he gets offered that type of money. That's beside the point.

If I'm an AL team, I'm bunting all day on Detroit. Fattest and slowest infield in history.

Nice pick up, though.

Can't wait for this season. NL East champs.

How close are the BoSox with Oswalt, and what other teams have been interested?

Those performance bonuses are absurd.

I think they're trying to snag Oswalt and Edwin Jackson. He came out and said he would accept a one year deal so I could see them both there. If not there, I'd say Oswalt goes to St. Louis. Would be shocked if the Sox didn't get one of em.
