Man there's no such thing as showbowing in a game 7 (or 5 in a LDS). You make a great play you better celebrate. I was salty when Manny hit that walkoff against us and just stood there with his hands up but I was only mad because it happened to us.

Felt it in Oakland too...

Then you had one of the nastiest sliders in history

I'm not a baseball person. It's my least favorite sport. Out here puffing your chest because your country is relevant for the first time since the Expos left. **** outta here.

Bret Hart and Sidney Crosby ensure Canada is always relevant :pimp:

My fandom at this point is

Mets
Cubs
Blue Jays
Royals
Dodgers

Mets (My dad has a can of RC Cola from 1986 World Series that he refuses to drink until the Mets win another world series. I'd like to see this)
Cubs
Dodgers
Royals
Blue Jays

There is no plan.

No plan at all........

I enjoyed the interview video of Tom Ricketts during the celebration Tuesday night here at the top of this CSN article. In particular, his comments about this season being part of the payoff for fans who stuck with the team as it was building to this moment really resonated. I firmly believe that the folks who remained passionately interested during the low years of The Plan are enjoying these last few weeks as much as anyone (and much more than they would have if they’d checked out for a while).

The plan all along was for this Cubs team to be built on offense. After clinching a trip to the club’s first NLCS in a dozen years, team president Theo Epstein discussed how he and his staff once envisioned these bats all coming together and leading this group to great places.

“We’d write out the lineups on a cocktail napkin at 2 a.m. in some (crappy) hotel bar thinking where we might get these guys in the draft,” Epstein reminisced while celebrating with his team after a 6-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. “Then we get them and we put them up on the white board in the board room and start to get pretty excited.

Clearly you just show up to work every day and do whatever comes up that day, you don't actually map out how you want to rebuild, or generate revenue, or target free agents, or add spending when necessary, and decrease salary during lean years, or hire coaches throughout your system to teach and train the same message, or scout the players you want to perform those duties, etc.

I know, "Every" GM has a plan. I know. And they all do so well executing those plans, don't they?

But hey, you would know more about that than the writers that follow the team, every day, or the bloggers, or the fans, or the media, or the former players, or current players, etc, that all reference the same thing.

That thing that doesn't even exist.....

It's ok tho, I know how closely you follow the Cubs during the 7 minutes a day you aren't jerking off about the Astros in here.

Listened to ESPN radio all day, and the dominating topic of discussion was this bat flip.

Had no problem with it live. Had no problem with it once I heard Dyson talk about respecting the game.

Don't disrespect the game by serving up meatballs. I mean, Bauts CRUSHED that ball. Wasn't like it was a solid pitch that Bautists battled into a weak grounder or a double off the wall. He OBLITERATED it.

breaking the curse of the Bambino and the billy goat in the same lifetime? dude is beyond smart...

Don't act like the Cubs are unique cause they have a "plan".

They've done a great scouting and drafting. It is pretty incredible (and lucky) that so many young guys have stuck.

Signing free agent needs and drafting good players isn't a "plan", it is common sense. But props to them for executing.

He hasn't broken any curses in Chicago yet, but he's done more than any other GM has for this team.

We've never, NEVER had an actual farm system. We've had a couple players come thru, sure, but never a steady stream of talent brought in, and coached up for X number of years.

And he's still pulling in talent, even during these playoffs. (Unless the Giants find a way to block us with Eddy :nerd: )

I get that, but you fail to see the entirety of what we talk about with the Cubs. Like renovating Wrigley, getting new TV deals, the INTL spending, etc that he does, from the ground up, that others fail to accomplish.

That's moreso what my point was last year. His plan was EVERYTHING, not just players, FA's, etc. He rebuilt the entire franchise level by level, every single detail. That's what we (Cubs nation) are talking about.
