More credit to Buck Showalter's managing skills or Tampa's depleted roster in the off-season?
Travis Wood and Kyle Drabek with stellar starts. Gordon Beckham is on a tear, hopefully he keeps it up throughout the season.

Our games look like Miami Heat games with all of the empty seats. Disgusting.

More of the O's young pitching showing some of their stuff.  I still think Tampa is 85-87 wins this year.  Still think Buck wears out his welcome too.

Braves Jair Jurgens headed to DL
Spoiler [+]
WASHINGTON -- The Atlanta Braves have put right-handed pitcher Jair Jurrjens on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique muscle.

Jurrjens
The club announced the move Sunday, making it retroactive to March 25.

The Braves recalled left-hander Mike Minor from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jurrjens was hurt in Atlanta's game against Toronto on March 24 and has been slow to recover. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Jurrjens would throw a simulated game in Gwinnett this week. After a start next week, he should be ready to return on April 16.

Jurrjens spent time on the DL with a strained left hamstring last season, when he was 7-6 with a 4.64 ERA. His season ended in mid-September with a knee injury.

Minor was 3-2 with a 5.98 ERA in nine games with the Braves in 2010.

Tampa Bays Evan Longoria headed to DL
Spoiler [+]
The Tampa Bay Rays placed third baseman Evan Longoria on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.

Longoria
The move comes a day after the Tampa Bay All-Star was removed at the start of the sixth inning of the Rays' 3-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles and was replaced by Sean Rodriguez.

Rodriguez got the start at third for the Rays on Sunday.

Manager Joe Maddon said the strained oblique muscle could sideline the All-Star third baseman a minimum of three weeks.

Longoria felt some soreness during batting practice Saturday and it continued into the game.

"It had been sore leading into the game," Longoria said Saturday. "I wanted to test it out during the game and as it progressed, it just got more and more sore."

Tampa Bay purchased the contract of infielder Felipe Lopez from Triple-A Durham to take Longoria's place on the roster.

Longoria is 0 for 5 with a walk through two games this season.

Bostons Carl Crawford dropped in batting order
Spoiler [+]
Two games into the season, Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona is shuffling his lineup, moving Carl Crawford down to seventh against Texas lefty Matt Harrison in Sunday's game.

Crawford has yet to get the ball out of the infield in seven at-bats, striking out four times. He has reached base on a walk in his last plate appearance Saturday night against Rangers rookie Mason Tobin, who was making his major league debut.

"I think looking at him, it's kind of obvious he's trying too hard," Francona said. "Especially with a lefty today, just kind of let him sit down there. As soon as he gets on base, causing some havoc, he'll loosen up and the real Carl will come out."

Crawford is not accustomed to doing much sitting in his career. In six of the previous eight seasons, he played in 150 or more games. Last season, his first day off didn't come until May 18, Tampa Bay's 39th game of the season. He got off to a great start in 2010, batting .337 in April.

This season, Crawford comes in with what has proven to be added pressure for other players, a huge new contract -- seven years, $142 million.

Crawford's former manager, Joe Maddon of the Tampa Bay Rays, acknowledged during spring training that Crawford would face increased attention but didn't think it would be an issue.

"He's going to get scrutinized to a level now that he wasn't scrutinized here," Maddon said. "I don't know how he's going to react to that. Obviously if he's doing well, it's not going to be an issue. If he's struggling at all, it may become an issue.

"He's going to do fine, he's going to do fine. That's what I believe."

Crawford has never started in the No. 7 spot in his career, though he has made 43 starts in which he batted either eighth or ninth. In his seven at-bats out of the 7-hole, he is hitless.

Francona made a few more changes in Sunday's lineup. Jed Lowrie will get his first start of the season at shortstop, spelling Marco Scutaro, and Darnell McDonald will start for J.D. Drew in right field.
