Oh well Lawrie would just play so-so defense 
Rendon would have no ankles left. The guy has had such severe ankle injuries the last few years. Throw in guys sliding right at that ankle during the double play turn and that seems like a losing situation for Washington. Another reason I would have never extended Laroche more than a year with an option for the second.

Completely against a pitch count, although the 100 pitches is more in line with the pitcher going through the entire lineup three times. The familiarity of the batters facing that pitcher for the fourth time lend itself to a better chance of getting a hit. So, it's not the 100 pitches that I'd necessarily be concerned about.

Still, even as a stop gap, one slide into that ankle and he may be out another year. I don't think you can risk it with him there.

He could as easily get hurt with a hard slide into third, or rounding the bag around first. Just like Strasburg we can't baby the guy forever. Especially since Danny Espinosa is the worst player in the show.

I think he will. Allergies and now the triceps injury are hampering him.

It's a totally different situation though. How often do players slide hard into 3rd base? It's not near the amount of time you'll have a player sliding in hard to 2nd to break up a double play, a double for a base hit and stealing second base. The chances of him getting hurt that way at third is way smaller than him getting hurt at second. It's all about the defensive aspect of it. Sliding and rounding bags don't really come into play with having direct contact with the ankle, you know? It's not even about baby gloves, it's trying to protect him and lengthen his career.

We're still three weeks away from the draft, which means everything here is preliminary, and based a lot on industry conjecture rather than on firm preference lists from each team.
Most scouting departments won't set up the war room until a week or so before draft day, and we still have college conference tournaments next week and a lot of top prep players still in the playoffs, like Matt Krook throwing Thursday night.
With that caveat in mind, here is my best projection for the top 33 picks in the draft -- the formal first round, plus the six compensatory picks teams received for losing free agents who received qualifying offers this offseason.

1Jonathan GrayPOS: RHPHT: 6-4WT: 239School: OklahomaAnalysis: The industry thinking is that the Astros will try to cut a deal with Gray for less than it would cost to sign Mark Appel, then applying the savings to later picks where they might sign players to bonuses that exceed MLB's recommendations.
There is one hot rumor this week that has the Astros on UNC third baseman Colin Moran, one of the top statistical performers in this draft and someone likely to rate at or near the top of Houston's internal analytics.
Besides Gray and Moran, Mark Appel and perhaps Kris Bryant all seem to be in consideration, and maybe (but probably not) Clint Frazier. If last year is any guide, the Astros won't make a final decision until a few hours or even minutes before the pick.

All true points, and I agree that it's not in the long term best interest to put him at second. However, if you watch a nights worth of Danny Espinosa's at bats you'd be wanting to bring up Rendon to play 2B during the middle of a game
IDK what Danny did after his rookie season, but it might've ruined his career.
