A-Rod used to be my guy. Look what he turned into laugh.gif what a sad end to a career.

Yes, the Brewers should have to pay Braun's salary too. Same goes for any team with a suspended player.

You offered a player a contract and should have to honor it in fairness to other teams. I'm not saying A-Rod should get paid but donate the money to charity like what happens with fines.

This will be setting a horrible precedent. Watch the Angels try to get Albert and Hamilton banned for life lol

Players don't get suspended because of the actions of the team.. They get suspended based on their own actions..

If someone gets suspended for steroids, it clearly void certain terms of the contract for that period of time, as opposed to injury, which happens and doesn't void the contract..

Someone does something illegal to MLB, and they deserve to be paid? Or at the very least the team should be forced to pay the salary of someone who broke the rules?

You're being silly right now.

How else could you prevent what the Yankees are doing? Trying to keep a player off the field so you don't have to pay him opens up a whole new can of worms.

"it clearly void certain terms of the contract for that period of time". Obviously, and that's why they're going after a lifetime ban so nothing has to be paid lol

I said it in my previous post, a player suspended should not be paid. However, in fairness to other teams, the team should not be hook of paying out that contract and luxury tax implications. Donate the money to charity which happens in other sports with fines.

You think an organization would be fighting to keep one of the greatest players in baseball history on the field...

The Yankees are simply trying to exploit the rules to get off the hook of paying an enormous contract and luxury tax money.

He still gets paid with injury.. Only a certain amount is covered by insurance.. Even then, Yankees are still over luxury tax. ARod brought the quad injury to the Yankees... Yankees didn't say Oh, you now have a quad injury.. Then ARod goes to another doctor without team permission, which has always been against CBA rules.. Yet the doctor doesn't even see him. He talks to him over the phone. laugh.gif

MLB isn't going after ARod for PED use. Had he cooperated, and just said "Yeah I was on PED." He'd get 50 games. Why they are pushing a lifetime ban is because he not only recruited other players, but attempted to destroy evidence.. They didn't pursue a lifetime ban for PEDs, it's because ARod is an idiot and instead of getting out of the way, he tried at every step to thwart the investigation.

What fairness to the other teams.... Should every team that gets luxury tax money have to give it back when they don't put it into their team year after year...

All I hear is crying from you... A guy commits a crime whether it be in the eyes of MLB, or the judicial system, or whatever it is... A team should not be liable to cover that cost... That's everywhere..

Yankees are not exploiting any rules.. You think they are contacting MLB to push a long, lifetime ban... laugh.gif You know how much money that would cost them if even a half-alert lawyer looked into it..

So A-Rod is cleared by a non-team doctor, and Cashman loses it telling A-Rod ****. That is totally normal behavior for a GM who wants that player in the lineup. Right...

People don't understand that the 50-100-lifetime ban punishment is for positive tests only. MLB is attacking him under the "Morality Clause", which is just like Goodell having free reign to suspend/fine players for how he sees fit.

I'll ask this again. If teams aren't liable to pay contract/luxury tax, what is to stop other teams from trying to use the "Morality Clause" to get out of contracts? The Yankees are the most popular team in baseball. They drive ratings, which in turn creates revenue. Why wouldn't MLB try to free up money so the Yankees could then spend on other free agents to become a better team?

Collusion is defined as a "secret agreement or cooperation especially for an illegal or deceitful purpose". The Yankees are cooperating with the investigation to get out of paying a ridiculous guaranteed contract with luxury tax implications. The fact they aren’t fighting for their player is a joke.

You're talking about a separate instance.. When Cash told him to shut up... He went to a doctor that cleared him for REHAB games, team doctors were the only ones with the ability to clear him. Yet anyway he was playing in rehab games less than a week later.. Then he gets injured again, and brings the injury to the Yankees.. He sits to let the injury healed.. Again, he "goes" to a different doctor than one approved by the team. And the doctor didn't even see him, they talked over the phone. Despite that he was playing rehab games less than a week later.

You have to prove the idea of Morality Clause... And you'd have to prove that the behavior was so unbecoming that it should void more than a game or two, If anything at all.. Unless the guy is out raping woman, or dealing drugs.. You'd have a lot of trouble trying to get out of a contract. So it's not setting a precedent... Also, the morality clause isn't being used for PED use.. It's being used because he recruit other players to Biogenesis, then tried to destroy the evidence, and impede MLB's progress in the case. Had he shut up, and stayed out of the way.. He'd get only 50 games, and the morality clause and lifetime ban would never be discussed.

Yankees have paid the highest salary every year except for 1 in the past 11 years. They never have problems spending money or luxury tax.. Even scrapped the idea of even trying to get under the luxury tax for a single year.. Even without ARod's contract, they would not be able too.. 2009 Yankees already had ARod's contract, and still spent it on C.C., Burnett, Teixera.. The idea that suddenly Yankees will go on a spending spree with money saved on ARod's contract that they wouldn't before is overblown... Because they'll be at about $200mil even without ARod.

They are cooperating because MLB is their boss.. Not they other way around.. They have to cooperate.. Even with cooperating, they have almost nothing of use for MLB in investigation.. Fight for their player? What the hell do you want them to do?

They've been trying to bring their payroll down and get away from the reckless spending on FAs. They can't do anything about contracts they're still tied to, except for the case of A-Rod.

They could publicly back and help defend him. They could be working together to fight the looming suspension. Instead they're sitting on their thumbs because the suspension would actually help the team.

Are you insinuating that Chipper Jones deserves a bigger send off than Mariano Rivera?

No not even I'm just saying its crazy how much love he's getting everywhere he goes and yes he has earned it. The dodgers gave him a deep sea fishing rod and had a whole mini ceremony before the game

Totally hear you bro.  I just misinterpreted why you even brought up Chipper's name to begin with.  (Why did you by the way? lol).  I think the All Time Greats of the game all get this sort of send off if they announce their intentions to retire once the season is over.

Because he was the most recent big name player to do a retirement tour that I can remember

I just like watching good pitchers pitch. The different ways he attacks hitters is incredible.

Good man.

Coming over from Japan, Darvish almost had too many weapons. Too many pitches. He needed to narrow down the repertoire to his most effective pitches.

Moving forward, he's the best "young(er)" pitcher in the AL.

I'm curious how you rank the pitchers moving forward in each league.

What don't you like about Scherzer? He's had the stuff his whole career, but he's really matured as a pitcher over the past 2 seasons.

I don't know what someone could have against Price lol

Loved his stuff in the D-Backs farm system. Had stud, ace potential.

Finally fulfilling it. I don't like baseball fans who are riding the Scherzer wave and simultaneously discrediting JV's impressive body of work the past two years.

Verlander had incredible years in 2012 and 2011. I've watched so many of his starts, and Leyland would regularly overextend him. With that factored in and just normal regression, it's not shocking to me to see him "struggle". I've mentioned it other posts, but I took Kershaw over Verlander with the first pick in my fantasy league where pitching valued more than hitting.

At this point in the season Scherzer > Verlander. Verlander has the better track record, but I don't think there is anything wrong with choosing Scherzer over Verlander for the rest of the season.

Had money on this phillies game. Man I was loving everything till the 9th inn, I can't believe this **** really just happend. First papelbunz blows the lead. 3 outs all I needed 3 ******g outs ! Now it's bottom 9th. 1 error, pitcher slipped, batter gets hit. So now Basesloaded NO OUTS, can't score 1 damn run to tie this game. This offense is so damn pathetic it's ashame. 2 pop ups and a ground ball, all they need to do was get some wood on the bat but no looked like they swinging for the damn fence. Cole pitched a magnificent game tonight to.

EndRant/ Absolutely sick, I gotta go smoke asap
