I hate the yankees and would love to see them have to pay A-Rod's contract but there is no reason they should have to. Why only A-Rod? Why shouldn't the brewers still have to pay Braun's salary this season?
A-Rod used to be my guy. Look what he turned intowhat a sad end to a career.
How else could you prevent what the Yankees are doing? Trying to keep a player off the field so you don't have to pay him opens up a whole new can of worms.

So A-Rod is cleared by a non-team doctor, and Cashman loses it telling A-Rod ****. That is totally normal behavior for a GM who wants that player in the lineup. Right...He still gets paid with injury.. Only a certain amount is covered by insurance.. ARod brought the quad injury to the Yankees... Yankees didn't say Oh, you now have a quad injury.. Then ARod goes to another doctor without team permission, which has always been against CBA rules.. Yet the doctor doesn't even see him. He talks to him over the phone.
MLB isn't going after ARod for PED use. Had he cooperated, and just said "Yeah I was on PED." He'd get 50 games. Why they are pushing a lifetime ban is because he not only recruited other players, but attempted to destroy evidence.. They didn't pursue a lifetime ban for PEDs, it's because ARod is an idiot and instead of getting out of the way, he tried at every step to thwart the investigation.
What fairness to the other teams.... Should every team that gets luxury tax money have to give it back when they don't put it into their team year after year...
All I hear is crying from you... A guy commits a crime whether it be in the eyes of MLB, or the judicial system, or whatever it is... A team should not be liable to cover that cost... That's everywhere..

They've been trying to bring their payroll down and get away from the reckless spending on FAs. They can't do anything about contracts they're still tied to, except for the case of A-Rod.You have to prove the idea of Morality Clause... And you'd have to prove that the behavior was so unbecoming that it should void more than a game or two, If anything at all.. Unless the guy is out raping woman, or dealing drugs.. You'd have a lot of trouble trying to get out of a contract.
Yankees have paid the highest salary every year except for 1 in the past 11 years. They never have problems spending money or luxury tax.. Even scrapped the idea of even trying to get under the luxury tax for a single year.. Even without ARod's contract, they would not be able too.. 2009 Yankees already had ARod's contract, and still spent it on C.C., Burnett, Teixera.. The idea that suddenly Yankees will go on a spending spree with money saved on ARod's contract that they wouldn't before is overblown... Because they'll be at about $200mil even without ARod.
They are cooperating because MLB is their boss.. Not they other way around.. They have to cooperate.. Even with cooperating, they have almost nothing of use for MLB in investigation.. Fight for their player? What the hell do you want them to do?
Totally hear you bro. I just misinterpreted why you even brought up Chipper's name to begin with. (Why did you by the way? lol). I think the All Time Greats of the game all get this sort of send off if they announce their intentions to retire once the season is over.
In the order I'd want them on my team to make a playoff run this year.
Verlander had incredible years in 2012 and 2011. I've watched so many of his starts, and Leyland would regularly overextend him. With that factored in and just normal regression, it's not shocking to me to see him "struggle". I've mentioned it other posts, but I took Kershaw over Verlander with the first pick in my fantasy league where pitching valued more than hitting.
