If Craig did that on purpose, good for him. Smart baserunning. I dont think he did though.

You serious? Flopping? Its not flopping. If a defensive player is in the basepath, runners are taught to run into him. Thats common baseball practice.
Jim Joyce said Craig was "directly on the chalk."

can't end the game on that play.

That's irrelevant. The runner establishes his own base path. The chalk means nothing other than what is a fair or foul ball.

I'm a former umpire and agree with the call 100 percent.

Jim Joyce was wrong on that but it doesn't matter. The baseline is between the runner and the next base (for example a runner who's way out in foul territory rounding a base.)

He didn't flop, if anything it's like when a player swings his arms through his shooting motion while the defender has his arms over his in basketball. And I don't think he even intentionally did it either.

Exactly. If you make a move back towards second base, you're supposed to re-touch 3rd before advancing. No one talking about that though.

The obstruction rule in the book is straight comedy: "...the fielder is "likely" obstructing the play"

That picture is misleading too. Joyce saw the whole thing.

I'm not saying it was the wrong call because the rule is vague and can be interpreted many ways. I just don't think you can call it at that point.

Just to clarify, salty tagged the runner at home before he hit home but he was safe (and scored) due to the interference at 3rd?

Anybody that thinks that the ump(s) made a bad call is ******ed.

Have you looked at it the other way around? If they didn't call obstruction and the runner was called out at home, what do the Cardinals say?

Also, a similar play happened in the 2003 playoffs. Miguel Tejada of the A's rounded 3rd base against Boston, he was obstructed by the third baseman on his way home, yet they called him out. He didn't get awarded home like he should have, nor did they give him third. They called him out. He was either the tying-run or go-ahead run in a game that would have won Oakland that series.

Not trying to criticize you specifically, but I hate the mentality of "letting them play" with the game on the line. The players are protected by the rules all game long, but suddenly they disappear at the moment when the game is at its deciding point? Doesn't make sense to me.

Vague? Interpreted many ways? Lol. In every post, you further demonstrate you dont have a clue what you are talking about. I thought your post about needing to retag third base because he made a move back towards second base was particularly hilarious.

Think it's worth pointing out that Ferrell didn't get even remotely animated on the field. In the presser, he said something like "what could Middlebrooks do," but there was no animosity or criticism.

If he felt like his team got wronged in the World Series, pretty sure that's not how he would react.

Why are you even bothering with home dude? I can't help but
