Trout and the Angels were extremely smart doing this. Good for him/them :pimp:

A 28 year old Trout even if he's 75% the player he is now will command huge money/years on the open market, you guys are insane if you think not.

I was saying this last night. Kid will be 28 and if he keeps his play up, he will again have hundreds of millions of dollars thrown his away.

I think after he saw what miggy got at 31 he would blow that out the park at 28. What I don't think he realizes is that miggy is a totally different player and still will be putting up 30 homers and 100 RBIs in his late thirties. Once Trout's speed starts to decline so does his defense, infield hits, base stealing, etc. decreasing his overall effectiveness as a player. When he's 28 he will not get a contract as large as he could've when he was 24 or 25.

He's going to be 28 when the deal is over...that 250-300 mil deal will be there if he stays healthy and continues on this path, it's not even a discussion.

How many years did Trout have left? 2 or 3? I would have waited and got that HUGE payday. I think he'll get paid after this contract but not as much. People will see the Pujols, Cano and Miguel deal end in disaster. Detroit already saw what a mistake Prince Fielder's deal was.

and he could have gotten hurt and been Mark Prior.

He's gone be 29 not 28 when he's a free agent. Not sure if 1 year is gonna make a difference though. The 6 year deal is for the 2015-2020 seasons and buys out 3 years of arbitration and 3 years of his free agency. For this year, he's under that 1 year, $1M contract he got last month.

But idk if at 29 he's gonna be able to get a 10 year $300M contract. Most of the 9-10 year contracts you see in baseball go to infielders, more specifically 1B, cause even at an older age they could still play the position. Most OFs top out with 7-8 year contracts. His best chance at 10 yrs, $300M is to do like Miggy. Stay with the Angels, and when he has 2 years left on his deal sign a 8 year $240M extension. That combined with the final 2 years of $30M+ each gives him $300M.

Tim Lincecum too. The list goes on. Trout made the very smart decision of protecting himself today while keeping his potential future earnings at an even higher level.

Cards 6-1 odds to win the world series :smokin :smokin :smokin :smokin

Heres to another great season fellas.........Hopefully the cards bullpen can stay healthy and consistent!

Trout's deal would have ended in 2-3 years. A hurt Trout is still bringing home 250 mil. A healthy Trout is bringing home 300 mil. I stand by what I said. MLB loves this guy.

Padres jerseys are awful. Happy to watch baseball tonight. I can't wait to watch on Tuesday.

Im going to be a real baseball fan this year...I usually watch till all star the game..then lay off till playoff time lol

Will John Kruk ever go away?

And nobody feels like going to the game in San Diego, apparently.

I wanted Vin Scully tonight, I'm getting John Kruk. I'm not sure that can even be measured.

Petco Park is beautiful, it's on my list of parks to see

Dude it's such a great park. Tailgating before the game and then drinking during a 5 pm game with a nice breeze and then hitting the gas lamp district which is within walking distance it's all pretty bad ***
