10 runs in their past 5 games....but we keep winning pimp.gif

*edit*

Oh yea...**** Kirk Gibson and the ENTIRE D-Backs organization for what they did to McCutchen.

That McCutchen thing was not cool. Gibson should get suspended and whoever the pitcher was should too. That was freaking classless. Of all the people you do it to McCutchen? Goldschmidt is out for the season, but the D Backs are out if the race anyway. Pirates have a chance.

Brett Gardener is quietly a beast. Yankees best player by far so far. Yankees Sox games are crazy long for no reason.

You have to figure that eventually everyone will realize how overrated Fredi Gonzalez is and they fire him right? They traded for Bonifacio but in his mind it's just another sign to keep batting blowjob lead off laugh.gif
post #25390 of 77568
I hope they keep Fredi forever. Hope the Mets keep Terry forever as well. Mike Redmond is probably the best manager in the division.

That is ******* scary laugh.gif

Yep. I don't know if I like Matt Williams or not. He makes some of the same head scratching moves that Davey made last year regarding bullpen usage, lineups, etc.

Redmond seems to manage the bullpen well, I've seen him mix up the order when going head-to-head against the Nats, and he doesn't make terrible pinch hitting decisions either. I swear if Matt Williams uses Scott Hairston to pinch hit against a RHP again I might lose it.

That Baltimore/Jays series this week could really set some separation in the division. We'll see.

Will never pardon Fredi for running Venters and Kimbrel into the ground.

Anti-AL East. Terry knows he's a gatekeeper though. New regime will sweep through when the young arms are ready (Noah) and Harvey is fully-healed. 2015-2016 window.

Citi getting a plethora of pitching duels mid-August. deGrom/Fister, Colon/Z, Gee/Stras.

Terry knows he's a gatekeeper and with how stupid they are, watch him **** up another arm this season. I never saw the point in keeping a lame duck manager when the dude and the franchise knows he's not the guy going forward. You don't risk your team or your players, especially with a drunk like cocktail Collins. The new regime should already be built/in progress.

This always will be a good comparison for the Mets until there is new ownership and management unfortunately:

With the Mets having one of the best farm systems in the league after the Twins Cubs and ‘stros, and the rest of the NL East teams having below average at best farm systems, can you forsee any time in the near future where the Mets run away with the division every year, or is that just every Met fans fantasy?

Dan Szymborski: I know I’ve talked about this before, but I’m a big fan of the Mets future, simply because they have so many of the necessary elements right there.
12:00
Dan Szymborski: The issue is ownership and on-field management.

Dan Szymborski: I know I’ve compared them to a guy with great furniture, but assembly’s required and the instructions are in old norse.

Dan Szymborski: The Astros a few years ago, before they really started rebuilding, were like an episode of Chopped where they have to make a dessert from fish sauce, belly button lint, and styrofoam peanuts.

Dan Szymborski: But the mets are like one of those Top Chef finales where they have access to amazing ingredients. But they’re kind of stuck with having some bitter incompetent eliminated chef as assistants.

Encarnacion had another set back, so it'll be another series without him.

Sandy constantly preaches patience and doing things the "right way." Mets fans I talk to are buying it, hence the apparent lack of desperation or urgency.

Okay laugh.gif and when they end up with another Generation K output because they said to themselves "Terry's not gonna be here but let's not be proactive and start building our management the way we want it now. Let's leave the lame duck because that's always good to mold young players developmentally and character wise." That's the kind of idiotic approach to things that have led them to this miserable place that gets them ~75 wins a year lately laugh.gif

Do you agree Mets fans have become complacent with mediocrity? Loyal to a fault.

Nah, I think Met fans want to win and be successful (some of them have that loser mentality of just wanting to be better than the Yankees but that's another argument). The problem is, some folks think it's just gathering talent and fielding it and that leads to a winning culture/franchise. I'll stand by it until it's proven wrong but as long as Bud and his successor keep the Wilpon's in place, they're screwed. I also can't stress how fracturing it could be to have a lame duck guy stick around "mentoring" and "coaching" the young kids you are depending on the bring a winning attitude to the team. I see no reason why they won't have Collins back next year either. It's sad.

Side note, I know Met fans will think this is just typical Yankee fan bashing laugh.gif IDK why I typed all that.

Honestly, I am getting so tired of the people *****ing and moaning about baseball's unwritten rules.  There are unwritten rules in every sport.  Are you going to tell me that an NFL linebacker is not going to blindside a receiver coming across the middle if the other team just hurt one of their teammates?  You dont think this happens in hockey either?

I am not condoning intentionally trying to hurt a player, but beaning batters has been happening for over a century.  Sometimes a message needs to be sent.

On a positive note, Cutch is lucky to have a longtime fiancee (Maria) by his side for support and loyalty.

maybe i'm "new" to the sport. i've only started following baseball in the last 6 years and even then i'm more casual than die hard.

but you will have a hard time trying to tell me "showing up the pitcher" via bat flips or rounding the bases in a slow manner, or "walking across the mound", or any of that nonsensical BS calls for someone getting pitched at and potentially injured. and those examples from other sports are all eye for an eye. i really can't think of any other "unwritten rules" these sports have.

i was listening to sports radio earlier and someone said that you gotta do those type of things or you'll get picked on and walked over by the league. how exactly would a team get picked on if they don't bean guys for whatever reason?
