Since were on the topic of Bonds, this home run is probably the farthest hit ball I have ever seen in person. :x

I would never call Barry the greatest and I'm a fan of his. He clearly cheated. His style changed dramatically. I prefer the pre juice Barry. I also think Alex was a better player but neither of them will be number one because of that *. Both of them would be in the top 20 of the last few decades.

In that case A rod is the best player I have seen IMO
I also think Alex was a better player
th

If you turned every home run Bonds ever hit into an out, his career on base percentage would be .384, the same as Alex Rodriguez's.

Barry Bonds is the greatest Baseball player we have seen and it's not even close

Save the PED talk when the majority of the league was doing the same thing

* doesn't mean anything to me. Too many players were juicing to act like Bonds and A-Rod never existed.

Barry's defense took a drop his last few years. Alex can still play 3B today and will next year. I do agree, a lot of players were juicing so you don't know who was clean but I can't put either in the top 5 because of that blemish. I love both players and would love to see both in the HOF.

Thanks for posting this.  Some of these stats are just ridiculous.  Not human (which makes the silly title understandable).
-Bonds reached base just 330 fewer times than all-time leader Pete Rose, in 3,284 fewer plate appearances.

-If Bonds were to return to the major leagues tomorrow, he would have to make 1,412 straight outs to drop his on base percentage below .400.

 how cool is it that brawl is the same day as Bonds' birthday? Maybe it's just me

Broken record but there's been cheating in every era of baseball. You're gonna hold it against Bonds, hold it against EVERYONE. From Ty Cobb to the dudes in the 60's and 70's taking amphetamines/greenies (including Aaron), to the pitchers who doctored the ball (Niekro, Perry, ****** Ford, Don Sutton and so on)...hold everyone in the same light in your argument.

Why do people say all cheating is equal? Clearly isn't

Bonds arm never blew me away either. Still became an absolute beast at the plate and was must see TV

I personally am not saying all cheating is equal. The cheating I'm mentioning all clearly impacted stats in a very significant way. All cheating is not equally discussed is my most and it's held against some players and ignored against others. That's my biggest qualm with fans and writers. I rarely hear about Hank's admission of using greenies to bust out of slumps. Or about how many hundreds of extra stolen bases Cobb has because of infielders being afraid of getting punctured by extremely sharpened spikes. Or how many fewer wins Perry had due to Vaseline. The Russians were using steroids in the 50's. But it's unthinkable to even suggest it was used in the US/MLB.

That's my biggest problem. There's been cheating in baseball since it began. But there's clear bias towards the steroids era.

Jr > bonds. That's just me though

1990 Pirate Bonds>>>any Ken Griffey season.

also I don't think you can just summarily dismiss A-Rod in this convo, I mean how long until see someone hit 40+ homers consistently while giving you plus plus shortstop d?

also

Is there any question baseball coluded to keep bonds out of baseball in 08?
