Fairly certain most of us are.

Fairly certain most of your teams werent the ones getting ****** over by inept grounds crew members.  You wouldn't be laughing if it happened to your team.....other than CP who is hoping his team loses every game.

Click it? That's usually all I have to do if it's the homepage you're on. If not, look for the link that looks like a TV.

Naw man, I wouldn't care if it was a playoff chase.

Official games come after the top of the 5th FOREVER, so when rain falls, and the top of the 5th has been played, I get it. It happens, every year, to lots of teams.

Game shortened due to rain, happens all the time.

You wanting to blame groundskeepers for something that isn't their fault is just placing blame on something other than your own team.

I feel like we keep going in circles because you continue to dismiss my points and not address them.

Last night had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT RAINING.  If the 15 minutes that it was raining was the reason the game was cancelled 4.5 hours later, then I would completely agree with you.  But that's not the case.  It was the inability to properly tarp the field, not the rain itself.

And how you could say that I am blaming the groundskeepers for "something that isnt their fault" is absolutely absurd.  It is 100% their fault and the ONLY reason the game was not continued.

Shortened games are usually because it just won't stop raining. Not because of bad field conditions after the fact. I'd be ticked too if I'm a player or fan for a contending team and something like that happened.

It didn't rain longer than 15 mins and 4 hours later it still wasn't playable.

That's what I'm saying. It wasn't shortened because of constant rain but because of poor playing conditions of the field, which is a direct result of the groundscrew.

The umps were told there would be a slight drizzle, clearly, they got a brief downpour they did not expect. They tried to finish out the top of the 5th with it heavily raining, by the time they called the groundscrew, it was already too late. Moving the tarp on a drenched field isn’t easy. As was seen.

And the part of the field that go left uncovered, wasn’t even the reason the game was called. The outfield was, the outfield doesn’t get covered anyways. They used enough dri mix on the dirt to get the infield in better shape, but the outfield was screwed up. Theo and the Cubs offered to have the game suspended, rather than called. MLB declined, and said 5 innings was enough, it’s an official game. So they waited over 4 hours to try and dry it out as best they could to resume the game.

If they knew there would be a brief rain delay, the umps should have stopped the game asap, covered the field quick, wait it out, then untarp, resume. They didn’t do that. They tried to finish the top of the 5th, with a heavy rain already falling. That’s not on the groundscrew.

Whine and cry all you want, you guys sound ridiculous right now. You want to blame the crew, Cubs, umps, bad weather, bad luck, Bud Selig, bad dirt, history, anything you can think of, but your own damn team for not scoring in 5 innings, when the Cubs scored in just 4. That’s the end of the story, right there. Stop scapegoating things to make yourselves feel better.

The crew worked for over four hours to make the field playable – which the infield was – but the outfield was still soft

I guess they should have covered the outfield better............

Thought it was the infield? ...oh well.*shrugs*
It was the infield.

And for the record, the grounds crew did NOT work on the field for four hours.  Dont take what CP wrote as fact, because most of his posts on this issue are factually incorrect.  Part of the Giants protest is the whole "the Cubs did everything possible to make the field playable" idea is simply untrue.

#sfgiants say they were told everything would be done to play game. Last couple hours, #cubs did nothing to field.

?

Sooo...then the groundscrew messed up then. No way around it. They may not have done it on purpose, so working on it for hours afterward anyway is irrelevant. If they knew what they were doing in the first place then they wouldn't have had to.

Exactly.  There is absolutely no other way around it.  If the groundscrew did their job properly, the game would not have been delayed for 4.5 hours and eventually called off.  Weather conditions had absolutely nothing to do with the game getting called off, as it only rained for 15 minutes.  It was 100% due to the fact that the groudscrew messed up.  And for the record, I do not think they did it on purpose.  But intent or not, it still happened, and it was still entirely their fault.

Rain shortened games happen all the time.  That is not the issue here.
