Bum is gonna get paid
Lol Bumgarner is locked up until 2017+ on a ridiculous, team-friendly contract.

Bum is good, but lets not get crazy, he's not Kershaw. Is he under paid, yeah probably, but you don't pay a guy off a post season like the Ravens did with Flacco.

Bumgarner has a track record of postseason success.  And he's no slouch in the regular season either.  So comparing him to Flacco is very puzzling to me.

bum done it at 21, 23, 25. it's no fluke, it's 3 post seasons where he has come up clutch.

Can't tell if you're serious with that statement.
I'm dead serious. Bum =/= Kershaw or deserve to get Kershaw money yet.

i like Kershaw, but until he proves it in October that is going to be the monkey on his back and rightfully so.

other great pitchers have had October struggles as well though, prior to 2001, RandyJohnson had some tough outings,  Clemens only had 1 playoff win until the joined the Yankees.  some of those losses and no decisions aren't totally on those guys, same with Kershaw, but at the same time, he hasn't taken over and dominated on that stage the way Bumgarner has done the past few postseason trips for the Giants.

he had some decent performances against the Braves last October, caught a bad break in the 2 hitter 1-0 loss to St Louis in game 2 last year, but when his teams season was on the line he didn't finish the job in game 6 last year or game 1 this year.

he's young and is going to get his share of opportunities to fix that playoff track record over the course of his career though.

at the end of the day the Giants stepped it up in October and the Dodgers didn't but I felt the Dodgers had a team capable of beating the Giants had they met. again one team stepped it up and made numerous clutch plays, the other teams bats went ghost when it mattered most.

Bum is a very good pitcher, one of the best in baseball, but he's not as good as Kershaw.

The post season argument is so stupid. Bum had awful starts in the 2012 NLDS and NLCS. Bum has an overall ERA of 4.15 in both NLDS and NLCS play.

Kershaw has a lower NLDS ERA with more innings pitched than Bum, and that includes the horrible starts this year.

Bum has been nails in the WS, and Kershaw has struggled in the NLCS. That doesn't mean Bum is as good as Kershaw.

30 plus starts over multiples seasons vs. a way smaller sample size of the post season honestly isn't worth arguing about.

If you had to win 1 big game, as of right now who would you choose?  Bumgarner or Kershaw?

The answer to that can obviously change over the next few years, but going off a track record of solid postseason starts as of right now if I need to win 1 game, i'm taking Bumgarner. Over the course of 3 separate World Series he has been lights out.

This is no diss on Kershaw either, i'm a fan of his. He's a better regular season pitcher, but I would prefer Bumgarner in the playoffs until further notice, epecially in a road playoff game.

bum aint too shabby in the regular season as well. may not have the historical numbers, but they are excellent.

I see that view point

Better regular season pitcher = Kershaw

Better post season pitcher = Bum

I don't really think you can make a valid alternative argument to that lol

The whole point of my argument is that just because Bum has been better than Kershaw in the post season doesn't mean he is a better overall pitcher.

Obviously Bum has been good in the regular season too, but not on Kershaw's level. To go out and give Bum a Kershaw like extension based off 74 total post season innings is not logical and ridiculous.

while i'm at this...baseball needs to consider getting rid of the DH
NL rules make for a more exciting gm

Not only is bum better than kershaw, but he'd beat the living **** out him too. Not to mention bum repaired the team bus when it broke down in the middle of nowhere. I love that guy. :pimp:
