Ironic that Pelfrey and Hughes both left NY and found themselves fairing better on the same Twins team.

Yeah...Low expectations and every time he gives the Twins a QS or better, then it's all just a bonus. He's like many of those other vet pitchers that start out seasons so well then tail off sometime after the All-Star break. Ala Harang, Colon, Chris Young type guys.

Hughes was great last year. Off to a rough start, but he should turn it around. I'm sure he loves pitching at Target Field as opposed to that little league park in NY. :lol

Should I start a Twins thread? Or AL Central thread? laugh.gif

I don't even care that I'm hopping on late. After four 92+ loss seasons and how this year started (the biggest FA signing in franchise history testing positive for steroids) the only time to arrive to the 'party' is late.

Plus, the state of Minnesota's been beaten into cynicism laugh.gif I mean, ****. How many states or cities with four teams in the four major sports (NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL) have only two second-round berths combined for all four sports since 2010? Can't be many.

In the debate of the head-first slide vs. feet first, I've been seeing lots of reasons this season as to why head-first may be better. So many times, runners going in feet first have popped up and off the bag on impact and either get tagged out in that moment where they aren't touching the bag or it's really really close. Of course, you can over slide when you head first, but its less common to come off the bag completely since you still drag your entire body over the base before you slide beyond the bag. I even think you have more control going head first because you can control your arm placement a lot easier than going feet first. There's just way more maneuverability.

I've always been a head first guy myself when I played. Chalk one up for the Pete Rose's. :Nthat

I heard Dansby Swanson at 2. Something about Rogers not hitting a weak HS league or something like that. And Daz at 5, Astros scouts have been all over him. But Rogers should go 1 unless DBacks go with a cheaper pick

I'm fine with either SS at 2.

The stuff about Rogers not hitting is way overblown. They discussed it on the fangraph podcast and it was laughable laugh.gif

I've also heard they're going to take two position players, but I don't really agree with that. I'm always fine with taking the best player on the board, but we need starters, bad.

In the Torre book I read the players, while Pavano had been on the team for some time, all referred to the disabled list as "Going on the pavano" laugh.gif

Ya i expect one college player and a HS player but a college arm would be the most sense. I also feel it's Best player available and will pay for pitching in free agency.

I guess Miggy hitting over .330 and with an OPS well over 1, is just ho hum these days since it's the norm? :lol

Might be the hot starts from other guys, but this guy is amazing.
