Baez and Soler both homered right away last year.

Bryant will face James Shields today, we'll see, but I know Theo isn't happy. He always wants the rooks to open on the road, away from the home fans/media/extra pressure so they can get a couple games under their belt.

That's why I had been sayin he would be up April 20th rather than the 17th, but Olt breaking his forearm forced their hand. :smh:

Note, his last at bat at Iowa was a 3 run homer. 9 in the Spring, and 3 in 4 games at Iowa.

If he isn't leading the league by May 1st, he's a bust.
if he doesn't break dimaggio's record he's a bust.

James Shields vs. Cubs and their young lineup. Part of me kinda wants to see him dominate that lineup. Very intrigued to finally see Kris Bryant. I'm at work, but to hell with it...I'll be watching on my phone.

rumor has it the first homerun he hits in his first at bat on the first pitch will be hit with the force to drum up excitement for the first installment of the new star wars movies.

Bryant is going to hit without a bat today because the hall of fame has already asked for the bat from his first game.
I laughed
Same.

I think we all know that Rickey Henderson's 130 stolen base record in a season is now in jeopardy.

KB17

@BBTN: 3 pitches, 3 swings, 3 misses.

Kris Bryant strikes out in his 1st ever MLB at bat.

What a bust :frown:

He's not lying. I have said for weeks, the April 20th series was when they wanted to bring him up. I've said it 50 times.

He's up one series early, no biggie.

Welcome to the Bigs

And that right there is the whole issue.

Theo has already shown, with both Rizzo and Castro, he will get a deal done BEFORE it needs to be, to benefit both the player, and the team. Bryant will be paid long before 2021, which is why this is all such bull ****.

He'll get called up April 20th, a few days after he's "expected" to be. Theo wants him to come up, on the road, not at home. April 17th is a home series, he'll wait til the 20th in Pittsburgh.

If Bryant shows out this year and next, Bryant will have a deal on the table before the end of 2016. All this crap will be a huge waste of time.

Weird, I typed this 2 and a half weeks ago. And today, Theo is saying the exact same thing.

Olt breaking his arm forced their hand 3 days early. Get a clue. It's been known for weeks that the Pitt series was the target.

Naive (adjective): having or showing a lack of experience, judgment, or information;credulous:

She's so naive she believes everything she reads. He has a very naiveattitude toward politics.

Striking out on 3 pitches in his first AB in the bigs shouldn't be that surprising for a guy that Ks damn near 30% of the time.
