  • Just watched the replay of the Waino injury, feel horrible for the guy, and hope it's not serious.  Never want to see a guy like that go out on some worthless play like that.

Was it his knee or Achilles? It was a weird because he barely took off so it makes me think it was his achilles

Definitely looked like achilles and that's what all the reports I'm reading are saying as well.  If that's the case he's probably done for the year, but I hope not.  Dude doesn't deserve to go out on that play.

I hope Wainwright's injury isn't used as an excuse for the NL to move to the DH. Regardless it sucks to see someone like that go out. Hopefully it's not too severe

Rather than go on a rant after the Nats get swept at the hands of Dan Haren, I'll just do it now.

This team just isn't that good. Not a single dynamic bat in the lineup. Harper is the closest, but teams are now walking him because no one else is a threat. Zimmerman and Werth have been sapped of all their power. Ian Desmond's approach at the plate is caveman like. Top to bottom, this lineup is rotten. Yunel Escobar is the only one consistently having good at bats.

The bullpen was competely neglected in the offseason. Drew freaking Storen is the captain of a bunch of question marks. Relying on Aaron Barrett and Blake Treinen? No bueno. Might be forced to trade for a guy like Papelbon.

on to the rotation. Obviously not the problem, but Max Scherzer might be the most pointless $200 mil ever spent. Didn't need him. The rotation was perfectly fine as it was. I thought these guys would come out guns blazing. They've all been guilty of some stinkers in the early going. Come Summer, they should all be mowing em down.

Finally- I might be reaching here, but this just seems like a dysfunctional bunch. Observing this team for 3 hours a night, there's no positive energy. Outside of Harper's hair flips and Escobar sliding into home after his walkoff, it's a bunch of zombies. As far as the dysfunction, it goes back to a little nugget on opening day. Desmond made a comment about Scherzer along the lines of "he should be lights out, he's making 200 mil". That striked me as super salty and strange.

#FireMattWilliams not totally serious when I say that, but this dude is a fraud Manager of the Year. I'm still haunted by him taking Zimmermann out last year in the nlds.

Anthony Rendon. Save us.

Hopefully by June/July, I can look back at this dramatic post and laugh. Nats will be in 1st and the Mets will have returned back to earth.

For one Matt Williams ruined the vibe of the locker room. He's a ******* **** trying to run a baseball team like a military branch.

I want dude fired because he is not the answer. I also agree with the max signing being pointless  ...improve an already good pitching staff but don't address the offense.

The Nats, Phillies, and one more **** team are the only MLB teams with just one game with 10 or more hits  :smh:

When the World Series odds came out I stated in this thread it was a joke. I understand it because books ain't gonna hang themselves dry with the Nats as a bigger dog with their pitching. It's public perception...kinda like how Dallas always have top 7-8 odds every year because they're so popular with the public.

Not too optimistic about this group right now. Offense hasn't been terrible, but it hasn't been good either. The pitching has been disappointing so far considering the expectations. I somewhat agree with the Scherzer signing not being a move we needed to make this offseason, but eventually we were gonna have to shell out a huge contract to a pitcher at some point...so I'm not too upset with it. He's been great so far, the defense and offense have let him down.

I had a hunch Ian was gonna be shaky this year. Contract year for a player who turned down $100M+ and already folds under the pressure anyway? Not a good situation.

Things change quickly in baseball though, so we'll see how the rest of the year plays out.

Wainwright popped his achillies? :smh:

how long before the NL adopts the DH? no reason for pitchers to hit.

Brandon McCarthy is another one who could potentially end missing the rest of the season and beyond.

You can see the drop in his velo after being pulled last night with "elbow tightness" compared to his first two starts:
