i rebounded well this year. last year's fantasy team was miserable.
factor in just the necessary plate appearances to qualify and Joey Votto would still lead baseball in OBP... by 35 points. shame he missed those games, coulda easily won another MVP and set the doubles record.

Imagine how much more hard it would be to pick an NL MVP had he been healthy. A good six players deep.
right... I still don't know who I'd vote for. probably Posey, I guess.

and Dickey for Cy Young. ohwell.gif

Between him and Molina for me. I love em both as players.

I still lean Dickey too but Cueto has a shot. Old baseball guys would hate this stat but Cliff Lee actually has a higher WAR than both of them laugh.gif

I fight all year, win the regular season, and they shut down both Strasburg AND Smarjzaoihiohdfh;hidf taking out 2 of my solid starters just when I would need them. mean.gif

We're 2 days away from seeing a Triple Crown........

In a "clean" era.

And the guy won't win the MVP.

Unreal season. nthat.gif

Oh I think now that he's about to win the TC and Detroit made the playoffs, the voters have all the reason to give it to him now.

Yeah.

No way in hell Miggy doesn't win the MVP if he pulls this off.

Multiple Triple Crown winners haven't won MVP if I'm not mistaken. Thought I heard somethin about Ted Williams or Maris or somebody of that ilk that didn't win it.

I still say Trout is the easy choice.

I'll argue against that still laugh.gif more than I did against Verlander last year laugh.gif

1967

5 finishes in the top 5 in voting and he hasn't won one yet. Today's Grantland article on how this is statistically his worst season in 3 years is interesting though.

Could JV pull off another Cy Young if he finally shows up and does some damage in the playoffs? I have a hard time believing this one based on the regular season alone, but feel like a good post season could sway some voters. Then again I couldn't believe the MVP last year either. Before two weeks ago I didn't even realize he's was considered to be among the top choices.

*I believe the reference to past TC holder who didn't win may be actually referencing Ted Williams hitting .400 and DiMaggio winning the MVP? At least I think caught a bit of that on my drive to work this morning...

Oh, I think he's definitely the Cy winner this year. Might be the MVP of that team too. I have a hard time putting Felix, Weaver or Price above him. Price probably being the closest.
I found some, 1933 Chuck Klein didn't win the MVP, 1934 Lou Gherig didn't win the MVP, 42 Ted Williams didn't win the MVP, 47, Ted again,

Ironic that the votes back then look to be going to guys on winning clubs, rather than who the better player was.

Holy ****!!!!!! Gehrig came in 5th place roll.gifroll.gifroll.gifroll.gifroll.gifroll.gif

So there's been a couple, winning the triple does not = automatic. And Miggy certainly will finish in 2nd, and not a hilarious 5th. laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

But Trout has produced runs at an almost equal amount, but how many runs has Trout stolen on the bases, and how many runs has he stolen on defense? Trout can do everything, Miggy can hit. I don't see how anyone would argue otherwise, but I'm sure we will see some crazy debates if Miguel does indeed finish off this crown.

Those votes from the past, I'm sure, are based off reading the newspaper rather than actually seeing those guys play. The voters didn't have the luxury of flipping the tube to the yanks or sox so they went based off who was leading their team to the promised land.

I was listening to Dan P last week when he brought up the Ted Williams 42' & 47' seasons. I guess the media had it out for him back then.

The disparity in the stats those years are hilarious

But Miggy carried his team to the Playoffs while Trout did not maybe if he started the season in the bigs instead of the minors.

Miggy wins MVP

and I think Gio Gonzalez wins over Dickey. I think Kimbrel should get some 1st place votes his K's per 9 innings is insane like 16.9 per 9

What's the best site to get total team WAR stats?

Or can someone post team WAR leaders in hiting, pitching, fielding and total.

Angels have a better record than Detroit, but Tigers are in a weaker division, so Miggy MVP? That makes no sense.

I think the A's can still be the #1 seed if they sweep Texas and the Yankees lose a game.

It's baseball. No one player ever carries a team. Their pitching has been phenomenal down the stretch.

Trout absolutely should win, but I think Cabrera will get it. Remember these are the same voters who gave it to Braun over Kemp last year, and Ryan Howard over Pujols a few years before that. As illogical as it is to give the award based on a lead in three arbitrary statistical categories (two of which are flawed), the voters will undoubtedly go for it. Of course, Trout swiping almost 50 bags and getting 30 HRs has only been done twice before, but it doesn't have a cool name so it won't register.

Nice to see the Sox putting out a major league lineup against the Yanks today. The one they used yesterday was the worst Boston lineup I've ever seen. laugh.gif

Rawex5 go to Fangraphs and hit the 'Team' subcategory.

Disagree. Had Trout winning it most the way, but this last month or so has changed my thinking. Angels are third place team right now and without Trout, they're still probably a third place team. Without Cabrera, Tigers aren't winning the Central.

Trout = Most Outstanding Player. Cabrera = MVP.
