Yu Darvish showed exceptional command in Japan, Daiskue never has/will, and most scouts say he has good command of hall his pitches, it's more of an approach thing, where Daiskeu it seems like an inability to throw strikes.
Plus Yu's stuff is way better.
Probably needs to cut down his repertoire of pitches.
OKB: Spot on with your last point. Been saying this for a while and it could take more than a season. Just like Aroldis and Justin Verlander had to dial down the accuracy for improved pinpoint accuracy, Yu needs to limit his selection of pitches for further comfort and effectiveness. Sometimes too much can actually be a bad thing. Fine tune the four (or five) pitches that work best.

Ball is carrying somethin serious tonight and Dempster is leaving too many balls up in the zone...

It's still 104 outside. :x

Oh and underwhelming performance from MY might be the understatement of the year. He's been a complete and utter disaster.

 I just wanna punch Buster Olney in the face sometimes. "Straily is the best pitching prospect in the majors right now."

Nah they both have command issues, but both have demonstrated good control in past years. Subtle difference there. Of course it's Yu's first MLB season, but he's shown a tendency to nibble at the edge of the strikezone - like Dice. Also, they both lean on their slider as it's the best pitch for both. True, Darvish is a better pitcher, as he has far better stuff, but it's not quite as lazy a comparison as it's being made out to be. And I don't doubt that Darvish will have a much better career with his superior ability and advantageous release point due to his size.

That's what I'm getting at, Pro. Baseball fans are so enamored with the AL West rivalry and rightfully so, thanks to the quick growth of Trout and Trumbo, Albert's hot streak, and the acquisition of Greinke. Versus the addition of Oswalt (earlier) and Dempster, tracking Yu, and Josh's high-and-lows. I'll say again, I'm not counting out the Pinstripes. We know their bats can get hot and Ichiro could play a crucial factor in the playoffs in place of Gardner. A-Rod's return is obviously important. Even without Pineda and Mo, Robertson and Soriano are fairly potent on the back-end. CC, Nova, Kuroda, and Hughes is respectable. Although not quite as glamorous as Weaver, Greinke, C.J., and Haren. Then again, I trust Phil Hughes more than most. By the way, how far the "mighty" have fallen, Joba.

Dirk: Are Josh Hamilton's marriage troubles well-known and/or publicized in the Dallas-Fort Worth area? His wife was the one who spoke out about Josh not taking a "hometown discount" no matter what. Dude is mentally tough but I hope he stays strong in sobriety.

It's been speculated on, but nobody ever talks about it.

He released a statement today saying that he's having issues mentally do to an inability to kick chewing tabacco. Said its just messing with his head not being able to curb that addiction and he's been fighting that for several weeks now.

Man, can't decide if Josh has the best or worst life. Fighting numerous issues and addictions simultaneously while playing America's game for millions. At least Josh is handling the marital situation far better than John Lackey.

Random thought I pondered last night: Imagine Cliff Lee back in a Texas uniform. I know the price doesn't make sense financially but on paper that helps match-up with the Angels' vaunted rotation.

If they had Lee, they're back in the driver's set of the AL without question I think..

But the Phillies won't eat money and they want premium prospects. Good luck. Someone claimed him off waivers today because he didn't clear.

Dirk: Just having fun with it, but what about the Yankees? We know how much the Bronx Bombers wanted Cliff before he spurned them for Philly. Money becomes less of an issue for the Yankees who are far less financially prudent than Texas (Daniels).

I wonder if the Yankees aren't on his no-trade... He never seemed keen on going there.

But they'd make sense. They could use him about as much as Texas.

The Dodgers make sense. The Angels making a claim to block Texas would make sense.

 I have a bad feeling they'll be out quickly this year.

Dodgers claimed lee off waivers I wonder what will happen with that situation :smokin

I'm not too familiar with how it all works. I was watching a game on MLBN the other night and someone from Philly's front office was explaining how fans would be shocked at how many marquee names appear on a waiver wire and that we're not understanding of the process. He made it seem like it was a formality, but I'm curious as to how things go down.

Anyone wanna help out and shed some light on how this stuff works exactly?
