Nope, will not use any Ned Colletti trade for reference. Worst GM in baseball. Including a top 5 catching prospect so the Indians can pick up the tab on the rest of Blake's salary, :smh:.
Justified why: Oh because we have Russel Martin as our catcher and he's young... proceeds to flame out in two years.
**** Ned Colletti.

i always put the blame for that one on McCourt...im sure his cheap *** couldnt afford the extra 3 mil while he was buying out seven mansions

that said, Ned shouldve never made that deal with those terms

It's easy to put the blame on McCourt, it always was. At the end of the day, the GM has to put a deal together and he constantly got fleeced for prospects. Sure most didn't end up panning out either but still getting very little in return or waiting until their "value" bottomed out to trade them.

James McDonald for Octavio Dotel is another good example. Didn't even need Dotel, and ended up trading him to the Rockies a couple of weeks later. McDonald's value was at rock bottom. Pirates had success with JMac even though he flamed out in the second half. Either way, he'll be a productive back end of the rotation starter for them, for a few weeks of Dotel. :smh:

He could've included other prospects in the deal, but threw Santana in because he foolishly believed we had a surplus of catching talent. So much surplus that our starting catchers in 2010-11 were Rod Barajas and Dioner Navarro... :smh:

I see your point, but J-Mac isnt a good example . To me he was another guy who showed tons of promise and was great in the minors but couldnt put it together in the bigs. Too wild. If anything, the Edwin Jackson trade is a better example...danys baez and lance carter  :x

As for the catcher situation, totally agree. Plus Santana was the top prospect at the time, why give him up for aged third baseman? (even if it was a revolving door of crap post-Beltre). Russell Nathan Coltrane Jeanson Martin was great but the writing was on the wall with him at the end. Besides wasnt the kicker in the Santana trade was that for the Indians to cover Blake's salary, Ned had to include Santana? Reeks of McBroke to me

Ned isnt totally off the hook though...Schmidt  URIBE

I get what you're saying IM but we'll just have to agree to disagree. The biggest shock there is that they're going to give Frenchy another 500-600 AB's.

And I try not to beat you over the head too much with saber stuff, I'd like to think I'm more in the middle

Pro you seem to be much better at finding info than I am. Are there any new Josh Hamilton rumors? Last I think I heard he was offered 3 and 4 year contracts.

Olney just mentioned that the Angels could be prepping to make a big splash, and suggested Hamilton could be the target.

Free Peter Bourjos.

@Buster_ESPN As Ichiro signs with the Yankees, he'll be turning down a two-year, $14 million offer from the Phillies. 13 Dec 12 Reply Retweet Favorite

GOOD i didnt want ichiro anyway to come to philly im glad hes stayin with the yankees.

There was only really two places Ichiro really would fit and that was Seattle or N.Y. (Japanese population). What the hell he gonna do in Philly?

Huge blow to the Rangers if he goes to the Angels. They ****** around trying to get Upton and are going to end up losing Hamilton too.

ESPNDallas is reporting Hamilton to the Angels is DONE. WOW
sick.gif

Damn Angels better hope that money keeps coming in because if they don't win something their money situation could get ugly

The only good thing about being a Mariner's fan at this point is all the stars in their division they play AGAINST.
