The issue for me is not so much anymore the dollars these MLB'ers are getting paid.....it's now how comically low NFL owners have to pay their top talent.
Same with NHL players.

Those two should be the highest paid players to me.

But, at least the NHL cap seems to be rising.
Write each sports commissioner and tell them you demand that their athletes get paid more. Thats what I did for the MLB when I thought players deserved to make more money and look it worked out.

i'm watching the top catches all-time in baseball history, why is willie mays catch still #1 ?

Context.

Late innings of a tied World Series game with runners on base and the go ahead run in scoring position combined with the difficulty of tracking a ball over your shoulder.  Catching it and throwing it back in--all without settling underneath it or stepping into the throw--to hold the runner on second to only advancing to third.

I see no problem with still calling that the best ever.

The over the shoulder basket catch?

Magnitude of the game is probably why it's #1. I'd take this catch by Jim Edmonds over the say hey catch:

agreed with edmonds, i'd even say endy chavez catch was better if we're talkin context.

The deadline for Masahiro Tanaka to make a deal that would bring him the United States to pitch in 2014 is one week away, and while there's no reason to believe a decision is imminent, the Chicago Cubs may be gaining momentum towards possibly nabbing the highly-coveted free agent.

As ESPN.com's Buster Olney wrote in his Friday blog, "Executives have complimented Tanaka's agent, Casey Close, for keeping the process under wraps, but there are rumblings that at least one of the potential bidders is prepared to pay Tanaka like a Cy Young-caliber pitcher. Could that mean $150 million? $160 million?" And could that potential bidder be the Cubs?

Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune says that Cubs manager Rick Renteria met with Tanaka in Chicago last week, and was "upbeat" when talking about it. "Renteria said the Cubs' selling points were the deep reservoir of prospects that would arrive in the majors during the latter years of his multi-year contract if he signs with the Cubs," Gonzalez shares.

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark is at the owner's meetings in Arizona and tweeted that it was "amazing" how many owners in attendance there were "convinced Cubs are ready to blow away the field and sign Tanaka to a monster deal."

I wouldn't be mad either way. Pay him and get him, or let someone else pay him and save the money. I just want my prospects on the job training in August.

Sounds like the Chicago teams, Yanks, Dodgers and D-Backs have all made formal offers to Tanaka.

Cubs reported to have offered $160mm.

If that's true, I think he's getting close to $200mm

Seriously, Jim Edmonds was such a good OFer he would purposely slow down on balls to make diving catches
