Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Michael Caine really did put on a clinic in this film. His 2 scenes were two of the most powerful you could think of. First the letter from Rachel, telling Bruce knowing that it would be the end of them, and then telling 2 headstones that he was so sorry, that he failed them. :frown: Come on. He was more humorous in the first one, wise in the second one, and this time he just carried the heart of the film.

JA just called Joseph Gordon Levitt eye candy.......I don't know what to do with that.

And Noskey, if you were JT, and Olivia Wilde was playin your mom, you'd cry too.

One gripe I had, wasn't Talia with Fox when Bale came to get him? And then a moment later she's with Bane......was that an editing mishap? I swear I caught a scene that was non sequential but I've forgotten which one it was now. But I remember thinking they screwed up and it jumped a scene and then came back and I think it involved Marion in some capacity. But I could care less. All movies have flaws in them somewhere.

Did Bale come to them before or after the scene with Gordon and Tate being sentenced? Isn't that when Bane grabbed Tate?

I thought it was before and that's why Fox wasn't at the sentencing... Because he said he couldn't get Tate out of there yet.

Yes I think that's it, didn't Bane take her, and then in the very next scene she's with Fox again? It was something to that effect, yes. It just seemed poorly timed, but it may have been my mistake. But that sounds familiar, Bane grabs her, and 3 seconds later she is somewhere else. Didn't seem right to me.

I don't remember off hand, but it seems like the sequence was...

Bale shows up. Grabs Fox, leaves Tate.

Gordon sentenced with group, Bane takes Tate.

Maybe the sentencing was first, and then Tate is with Fox again? I don't remember. I'm gonna see it again and I'll keep an eye out for that.

That's the way I recall it, too.

When he takes Fox he also says something along the lines of "I won't forget you" to Tate.

I feel the need to mention this, and it has zero to do with the Dark Knight, but whoever puts this out there will be a new fav superhero of mine.

Minka Kelly, sextape for sale.........

Soak that in a minute.......

*shivers*

Please, I beg of you world, let this happen. Please.

Now, sadly it's a bit dated, over a decade ago or so, so it won't be her fine @#$ as it is today, but still, better than nothin.

All I need next will be an Olivia Wilde tape, Scarlett, Mariah Carey circa 2000, Paula Abdul Promise of a New Day era, Janet Jackson If era, Natalie Portman v Mila Kunis the raw footage, let's seeee, and maybe some Kate Beckinsale action would be nice, Jessica Biel, Summer Catch years, Britney Spears Slave for You era, and maybe finish that all up with some Jennifer Love Hewitt, and that's a nice collection of vids if I do say so myself.

Not that I've given any of this any thought or anything, just thinkin out loud here. Carry on....

No she freaking wasn't. That whole bs about a song was on, and it releaseed 16 days before she turned 18........what if they were listening to the Beatles instead?

That film coulda been last night with the Brandy CD spinnin, what the ****?

Like no other. But have you seen that scene? JT couldnt even muster up a choked scream. It was terrible. Just terrible. Oh well, not like we didn't know JT was a terrible actor.

Chill on JT... He was good in Social Network.

He's not a lead guy in a serious role though.

Haven't been on NT much, cuz I don't like change, so that makes me not even wanna go on NT. :nerd: srs

Saw TDKR last night...Am I that guy? srsly.

Liked it, loved some parts of it, have very strong feelings against a lot of it, but I wanna watch it again, before I even try to read through the mountains of reviews, this thread and the gen thread.

But yeah...I think this film aspires to more than most films even dream of. I think it's ideas were very profound and fitting and the scale was epic. I loved Catwoman, loved a lot of Bane, I thought the fight scenes were the best of the movie and no dambs were given the whole way through. I think this world and the ideas behind it were not well realized. I don't think they did a good job folding the past 8 years into the film.

I think this narrative works so much more as a written story than it did a visualized film. To me...it feels like all the elements of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight that I sorta glossed over and didn't let distract me from the things those films were doing so right, made it into this movie and got the volume turned all the way up. Everything got outsized in this film, but those had me rolling my eyes and just...emotionless-ly hopeful that scenes would end and they'd earn the leaps of faith I had to take with a lot of parts of the movie. The manipulation of time, the mercenaries, the police, Bane's plans, the fusion thing, the span of time the story took place...

This didn't need a "Heath Ledger's Joker." Although, I think they had one...and it was Anne Hathaway's Catwoman and there was just not enough of her. She killed every scene she was in. It just needed better care with the details. All of the ideas were there. All of the characters were there. The plot was there, the visuals were there, the details and intricate plotting just missed the mark for me. But the things this does well, it does amazingly well. It just...starts and stops and starts and stops and hopes it's got you hooked for the ending.

I do need to see this again. But for now... 7.5/10

Hunger Games readers...tell me this movie isn't half of Mockingjay... :nerd:

The change is alright MrO, you'll get used to it. Go see the movie again, soak it in, then come back to me. You'll lift that 7.5 I know you will.

I WOULD like to see an extended cut with about 20-30 more minutes showing how Bane turns Gotham into his city. He has the city under his control, but they really don't show much of his power throughout. A few scenes of him terrorizing the city, nothing to do with Batman/Blake/Gordon.

I'm somewhere in between CP and MrO here. I was moved by it in tons of parts, but yet there were things that I thought could've been done differently.

Still haven't seen TDKR yet :smh: .. Probably just going to wait until next week when I visit the family in nyc and just see it in imax

Don't do that... Don't. :smh: I hadn't thought of it like that and you just did that.

And the change isn't terrible. I hate the home screen for the forum but scrolling through threads is easier with some of the features.

I don't even have it any me to watch any other movies right now, what's the point? :frown:

I need this **** on Blu already. My day is coming, oh yes it is. Wake up, Batman Begins on Blu, The Dark Knight on Blu, The Dark Knight Rises on Blu, back to bed, back at'cha tomorrow world. :pimp: Perfect day right there. Not a damn will be given.

 It was all I could think of the second I saw the sewers...that and Akira, which Mockingjay basically ripped off.

I'm sure I'll appreciate the film more with the time to really chew on all that exposition...just...the Pit...and the bomb...and 5 months...and every cop? Too much for me right now.

I do see that angle, I really do. An American city cut off from the rest of the country, and not a single military force to come in and make some moves? Just passin notes thru a sewer?

But hey, suspend disbelief for the poetry we were given, ya know? Soak it in bruh.

I've actually heard a lot of people not enjoying this one, which I was surprised about at first, but after my second time through, I can see some of the complaints.

I still thoroughly enjoyed it and they got me with the end, but I can see where the complaints came from.

Agreed to go with my girl at midnight tonight to see The Watch... bought the tickets.

Reviews didn't come out until today. 9% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I could've told you that JP. Ben Stiller's career has been floundering as far as comedies go the past decade. Jonah wasn't gonna save this movie.

It'll have some good laughs but I doubt it'll be incredibly funny. Type of movie you just wait until HBO or SHO is airing it.
