Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Ummmmmmmm.......QT might sit down and finish a script connecting Basterds and Django in a trilogy with the third film being WWII era revolt thru Switzerland? Called, Killer Crow or somethin like that.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy ******g **** please be true!!!!!!!!

Appreciate the support noskey.

You guys think QT will ever come out with kill bill vol. 3?

Just finished Lincoln. LOVED it.

Going into it, after last seeing Django on Christmas night, I was not ready for a complete opposite film in terms of pacing. Lincoln was far from the "bore" (not in a bad way) that I thought it would be. It was simply a history lesson with great actors acting as the professors. DDL transformed himself into Lincoln. The rest of the cast as well, everyone did a great job. Strong dialogue, etc. Really enjoyed it.

I could have sworn I read the film wouldn't cover Lincoln's death, so to see the announcement at the play that he was shot and killed, I was caught way off guard. A pleasant surprise to see that be apart of the movie. To see Tad breakdown in tears finding out about his father's death, that was deep.

My favorite scene was probably the closed doors arguing between Abraham and Mary Todd. You could tell from there how troubled Abraham was, trying to get the Amendment passed, and as a father/husband.

Django and Lincoln as the last two films I have watched, fine by me :pimp: .

That's so weird you say that CP...

When I was watching the film last night, I was thinking that they could try connecting the two. Hans Landa (Waltz's character in Basterds) lived through the 30s obviously... and the "dentist" lived in the 1860s or so. He was also German in both movies. :nerd:

In a weird way, they could make an outside attempt to connect the two. Obviously there would be some plot holes seeing as how Waltz's looks the same in both movies, but yeah

It would be interesting though, if Tarantino did that. Because they would HAVE to delve into why Waltz's character was merciful when it came to African-Americans but an absolute tyrant when it came to Jewish folks. That would be very interesting.

Wait, well... How would the dentist be in the third film..

I...

God damn it. I don't know.

When Quentin Tarantino releases a new film, it’s kind of hard not to notice. As Django Unchained is now playing across the country, now’s the golden time to be inundated reviews, interviews, press events, TV spots, etc. — but not what he might do next. That much usually requires, give or take, another couple of years and more than a couple rumors interspersed through the interim.

I’d call this a Christmas miracle if it wasn’t December 27th, but, calendars be damned, I’m elated by this next bit of news. Whilst speaking to The Root (via ThePlaylist), Tarantino followed previously-stated thoughts on making Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained parts one and two, respectively, of a trilogy, and how he’d like to wrap that all up. Although none of this is set in stone — until things have actually started filming, few things are with the writer-director — he may go back to World War II for what, at the time, could be titled Killer Crow. And, boy, would this not win any more favors with Spike Lee.

It’s fitting that this almost sounds like an amalgamation of ideas found in both Basterds and Django — not only because it’s the closer, but also because the central idea is actually an excised piece from the former. As he said:

“My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this [would be] a huge story that included the [smaller] story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of black troops, and they had been f–ked over by the American military and kind of go apes–t. They basically — the way Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) and the Basterds are having an ‘Apache resistance’ — [the] black troops go on an Apache warpath and kill a bunch of white soldiers and white officers on a military base and are just making a warpath to Switzerland.

So that was always going to be part of it. And I was going to do it as a miniseries, and that was going to be one of the big storylines. When I decided to try to turn it into a movie, that was a section I had to take out to help tame my material. I have most of that written. It’s ready to go; I just have to write the second half of it.”

(Funny enough, killing everyone in sight to make your way to Switzerland is, actually, the plot Enzo G. Castellari‘s The Inglorious Bastards. While it’s probably best he cut that for his own film with a similar title, placing it here makes a bit more sense; as is always the case with him, it’s not about a familiar idea, but what you do with it.)

And if you think the changing nature of its story won’t create some direct connection, think again: Tarantino says the Basterds would find themselves, although briefly, placed into the blood-soaked action of Killer Crow. (Chronologically, it’s expected to be set after the battle of Normandy, pre-Operation Kino.) Despite this existing source of inspiration and, too, most of it having been scrawled down, we shouldn’t necessarily expect the film to follow Django — he was ready to admit, “I don’t know exactly when I’m going to do it.” There are other things out there, you know.

We owe Quentin Tarantino the chance to take his time and get Killer Crow‘s script just right. In the meantime, let’s hope he can get something out sooner than another three-and-a-half years.

All the complaining about a white director writing a script using the N-word shows to me that most don't read enough novels. White authors have been using the word forever, and no one complains about it in the written form (except maybe angry middle school parents who don't want their kid reading Huck Finn).

I just think its silly for anyone to call this film racist.

If you're going to be insensitive about this film, you should be insensitive about all of QTs films, and shouldn't be watching films of this nature. Go watch Amistad.

I finally got around to checking out Flight.......Ruxin's wife's *******. That's all.

Right upfront...the plane sequence was one of the best scenes of any movie I saw this year. The pacing, the tension, the subtle touches, the acting...just great well orchestrated filmmaking and perfect for what it was. If you love movies or Denzel or ******* you have to watch this. Amazing film, all the way to the end, which is at about the 30 minute mark.

Unfortunately, after that another movie starts...
Now...Denzel is great...he is. But he basically becomes a knockoff Dr. House except if he was a pilot instead.

This is the first time I think anyone's ever said this, but I really wish Damon Lindelof could've gotten a look at this script. This is him. This is what he does. This needed the Lost effect. And I'm not saying it needed smoke monsters and mysteries with no end. People forget that Lost was great, non-linear character storytelling. It needed that touch. Because they nutted early with the plane scene right at the beginning.

A better storyteller and editor would've cut little pieces of the flight into the movie leading up to the big reveal of what exactly happened. But instead we get 30 minutes of Flight, then 2 hours of alcohol rehab...At the end of the movie, I sorta sat there and said...that's it? :nerd:  "Don't go being addicted to stuff, mmkay." Almost none of the details of what happened in the first 30 minutes made any difference. It could've been 'Awesome, you drove that kid to the hospital!...But you were drunk!'

Robert Zemeckis, what'd I expect? :smh:

9.5/10 if you stop it right after the plane scene.......7/10 if you don't.

And as far as anti-addiction stuff goes...this just made me wanna knock back a couple.

I saw The Hobbit today, my eyes are exhausted.

Once you get used to it, it's probably the best visuals I've ever seen in a movie. I'm thankful that all movies aren't shot in high frame rate, IMAX 3D, because I don't think my eyes could take it... but it was pretty spectacular in one sitting.

Content wise... ehhh I'm the wrong person to ask. I've never read any of the books, I wasn't a diehard fan of the LOTR movies, but my brother is and it's his birthday so I figured to go. The action scenes were great, but it was just a lot of movie. I don't know the actual story so I can't comment on my expectations, but it was just long. And I can appreciate a long movie if done well, but this one just felt like it dragged. Pacing can be difficult for a 100 movie movie, much less one that's almost 3 hours. I'll definitely see the next ones and I do want to rewatch the LOTR trilogy now.

Anyone notice all of the long runtimes in theaters right now?

The Hobbit - 170
Django - 165
Les Mis - 158
Lincoln -149

Then another eight that are at least two hours.

Exhausting.

I'm good at like 100.

That's why I,ve been putting off Cloud Atlas.

Flight could've cut 30 easy.

I'll say this though...Django...I liked the pacing...the editing was kinda funky, but it needed that epic story pace and didn't feel dragged out to me.

Did The Hobbit have filler, J?

I have Cloud Atlas, Flight, and Lincoln all in range to watch...... No idea when I'll get to them tho.

Anyone seen Cloud Atlas yet? Some marvel at it, others hate it with passion. I'm sort of weary about it now.

LOTR blows The Hobbit out of the water... Hobbit doesn't even begin to measure up for me.

Atlas is really, really different. And I enjoyed it for that. Truly unique and very well done. It's polarizing, but if you appreciate what they're trying to do and let it kinda sweep you up, it's very good.

Denzel w/ the House shtick? I'm in. Thanks. :D

Came up on 21 Jump Street last night. Will watch soon.

Da Vinci was... about 90 minutes too long. Terrible plot; no, excellent plot, terrible execution. Casting? Screen play? I don't know. Probably my least favorite Hanks movie.

Probably gonna throw Hangover 2
and In Time w/ 21 Jump. Just seeing H2 for probably the same reason everybody else did: in principle. already heard a bunch of bad things about it, so I'm not expecting much.

Hey, what's you all's take on Zombieland? I've already seen it, so don't worry about spoilers. Just curious what the collective opinion is on it.

Very funny. Emma was awesome, Woody was beyond awesome, Social Network was solid, Bill Murray scene was great, the only issue I had was the ending was a little meh, but overall very good watch, rewatchable, solid flick.

Yo..Idk man..Flight was awesome. I can't think of a better actor for that role than Denzel. The whole drugs before the court case was :pimp:

Do agree the ending was ehh though.

Cant bring myself to watching Atlas..just looks boring.

Jack Reacher was cool. A bit boring at first but Tom Cruise is always clutch in this role..which is every movie he does haha

Really enjoyed Zombieland.

Had low expectations for it and was pleasantly surprised when I finally watched it.

I love movies that surprise you like that.

That Bill Murray scene.

Watched Contagion and End of Watch recently.

Contagion was

. A lot of star power in this movie but I just couldn't get into it.

End of Watch was great.

Loved the interaction between Taylor and Zavala throughout the movie especially when they were in their squad car cruising around. Showed how strong their bond was.

Anna Kendrick.

That alley scene.

I always enjoy long Tarantino movies because the dialogue is usually engaging.

And Contagion was such a disappointment...all I wanted to do was not touch my face the rest of the day.

New Blood in here? :nerd:

Come in, pull up a chair.

2012 is over, I will see Django at some point this weekend, I don't even care, it's already on my list, idc idc idc.

My favorite movies this year are easy.

TDKR
Avengers
Skyfall
Argo
Django
Ted
Hunger Games

Still a couple I need to see to see if they make the list, but these right here I was eagerly awaiting, and they delivered. Prometheus had a shot, but it failed me. Liked it, but didn't love it.

Pedo status on swole...but I would smash Chloe moretz(sp?) watching Dark Shadows right now and had to post that

Don't eemm care haha
