Man, is there ANY movie out that has a book form... that people DON'T say 'Read the book. It's better" about? :lol I feel like that's just a standard response. Like forever and always, if there'ss ever a movie that comes out after a book... "Read the book. It's better." Like if someone actually has experienced both, and someone ELSE asks for an opinion on the movie, and that first person just said "Enh, you don't HAVE to read the book. Just watch the movie," the rest of the community of folks who have experienced both would shun him. :lol
As I said before, I was giving my honest/unbiased opinion. I didn't grow up on harry potter or wait for the books to come out.
I wasn't saying that he should just read the book and chalk it up. I said that he should read the books before watching the films.
In regards to your first question, I'd answer with fight club. Both the movie and book are great.
Just for kicks, here are some media that are based on books that I'd recommend to someone.
That I'd tell them to skip the book if he doesn't feel like reading.
