I didn't think that season 2 of the wire was boring.
The head union's guy speech is almost as great as Daniel's speech to Lestor about not having enough bodies to take down marlo.

Should I watch Battleship or The Lucky One tonight

I'm assuming none of yall have watched either one

I greatly appreciated the patience warning with Wire season 2. They're useful imo. *shrugs*
Yep.  Wish I was given this warning.

I remember how pissed I was when I watched season 2 for the first time.

I wanted more Avon and Stringer vs. McNulty & Lester but got Ziggy and Frank Sobtka and the Port instead.

Then after watching the entire series realized how vital season 2 was for shaping the rest of the series and grew to appreciate it.

One of my favorite seasons of the series actually.

I just

@ myself now for being so dismissive of season 2 initially.

Vondas and The Greek.

And my dude Sergei.

"Did he have hands? Did he have a face? Yes? Then it wasn't us."

Many don't think it's boring either, but in any discussion about The Wire, there's countless people saying

A. They hated the docks angle in season 2 and never returned

B. They didn't get the point, but kept watching

C. They didn't like it at first, but understood how important it was in the grand scheme.

Honestly....... and I know most of yall will disagree with me, but most HBO series's are pretty boring. That doesn't mean I don't like em because I thoroughly enjoyed The Wire and BWE, but they are certainly on the boring side.

Finally watching Kill Bill.

First off, it has trailers for QT's movies. I'm sure it would come as no surprise that I've never seen Jackie Brown, but... Samuel L., DeNiro, Keaton?! Well, damn. :wow: How much screen time does Chris Tucker have? Just a bit part?

Second, Black Mamba? Is this why... you know?

Third, I... freaking... LOVE... the truck.

Have a few questions, but I have a feeling the answers are just going to be "You have to watch the whole thing to know."

Maybe it's not HBO itself, maybe you generally don't like dramas?

Naw man, like I said I really really enjoy them... maybe boring is the wrong term to use for them, perhaps slow moving??

Modern TV dramas are chapters of a novel spaced a week apart. Those with more action and less overarching plots will be more exciting episode by episode. But once you know what kind of show and season you're watching, you appreciate when and where they're setting it up for later.

I feel similar, more so that the series aren't THAT good, especially when ppl say it's not tv it's HBO. For such a praised and notorious network they have a lot more duds and average shows around than you'd expect.

No denying the truly amazing shows they've managed to have though but when you take in their entire catalog it leaves much to be desired. I tend to suck my teeth when I look at some shows they've canceled and some shows that still go on.

Precisely, the build up may be a bit slow by the pay off is worth it

The truck is real. It resides at QT's house, serious.

Tucker has a smaller part, and there are even more in the movie. Fonda, Keaton, Debo, the guy that plays Max Cherry, of course Pam Grier. It's really good.

Yes, Mamba. Yes.

Write everything up when you finish, they are both spectacular in their own ways.

Ended up watching Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

I was pleasantly surprised. For some reason I thought it would be terrible.

Damb, watched American Psycho a second time & didn't realize Bateman's office assistant was Chloe Sevigny :wow:

Also finished watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower, enjoyed it :pimp:

I sorta fell in love with Nina Dobrev after she got slapped  :wow:

Yes, watch it.
Should I read mr. o's post about the shield.
Sidenote: I don't like when people rate specific seasons for people who haven't seen it.
Nah, if that's the case, then don't read that.

I was just saying, there are good seasons, great seasons, and one sorta ehhh setup season.
When you look at The Shield, from the outside...7 seasons can look straightup unreasonable.

But that was just my way of saying, trust me...it'll be worth it.

Wait...connect the dots for me regarding the black mamba?

Kill Bill 1 is one of my favorite movies. 2 is good as well but 1 is great throughout. Love me some QT movies!!

Remember when Pau was playing soft a couple years ago?
And Kobe said...too much white swan, Pau needs to be that black swan?...cuz he just went and saw Black Swan.

Kobe's a big movie fan. So Kill Bill came out and Uma's nickname in it was Black Mamba, after the deadliest snake in the world... :nerd:

.....dot-dot.

The Wire is my all time favorite, I've watched it beginning to end several times. The Sopranos is a VERY close second.

iYen thanks for your input on Shield as well.
I guess we'll both be going through the series at the same time.

Im just on episode 2 though, so its gonna be a while till i catch up

As far as Season 2 of the Wire goes...
Season 2 of the Wire grew on me once i got through the series the THIRD time.
The first and 2nd times, i really tried to get it all...I thought i did, but until the 3rd time watching the whole series through i didnt get the full significance of everything.
I started catching things I didnt catch the first few times...then i said ahhhhh.

With that being said, it wasnt the most 'entertaining' season of television. It was just important.
