Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Here's a recent interview with Sorkin from Collider.com

TV Fanatic also posted some tidbits about season 2 coming up...

The Newsroom Season 2 to Tackle Election, Trayvon Martin and More

Aaron Sorkin and company were the featured guests yesterday at PaleyFest 2013, as the creator and his Newsroom cast took a look ahead to Season 2 of this controversial HBO hit and offered up a few teases.

To wit: which recent events will be the focus of Will McAvoy and his broadcast team? Teased Sorkin:

"We have the election, and the primaries, and the conventions, and Trayvon Martin, and the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act, and drones."
It also sounds like the season will end just prior to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, a tragedy that Sorkin said could be a focus in Season 3.

With Piers Morgan emceeing the Q&A, discussion turned contentious at times between moderator and stars, highlighted by these words from Olivia Munn:

“I prefer to see Piers Morgan and Diane Sawyer just on the news and not a red carpet. To make yourself newsworthy is so egotistical and self-absorbed. That’s the problem with so many news organizations - so many people trying to make themselves a celebrity.”

The Newsroom returns this summer to HBO. Aside from the cast of characters posing above, Constance Zimmer and Patton Oswalt will both stop by as key recurring players.

I would love to have seen the interview mentioned above.

What exactly is the show that is being portrayed on Newsroom??

Like the evening news?? Cuz this just focuses on him going on these diatribes smearing right wingests like he's Bill Maher
laugh.gif

not at all like the evening news you'd usually see on like ABC's evening news with Diane Sawyer and whatnot

It's a cross between evening news for the straight forward seriousness and a dash of Bill Maher. He's like the inverse polar opposite of O'Reily since he's a republican taking shots at what republicans have become.

The way I've seen it is the news show is trying to be a toned down modern day Network.

But are those types of news shows even on primetime?? Especially on a major network? Bill Maher, O'Rielly, Beck, etc those types are on the MSNBC, Fox News, not their main channels like this show is trying to be portrayed. Just kinda bothers me I guess

Well no, cable. I actually wasn't even completely clear if this was a prime time show on this made up ACN media company. I don't think so simply cuz before his show it's some wall street/business show that Olivia Munn's character hosts and that isn't the norm for a prime time channel.

That main, really ugly chick..... makes me angry.... so ugly, so annoying

And the British woman.... she can suck it too. Annoying as hell and makes dumb faces when she acts.

I have to turn my brain off for her idiotic character.

so both now

^^^ I like Emily Mortimer too. Just something about her. And I found Allison Pill weirdly attractive in the movie Goon for some reason, but other than that, not so much.

Buddies  centers on the relationships between the four main characters. Luke (Johnson) and Kate (Wilde) work at a brewery together, where they’ve developed a magnetic, flirty friendship. They’re clearly into each other, and were it not for the fact that they were both otherwise engaged in romantic relationships, they’d have undoubtedly slept together. But here’s the catch: Luke’s fiancee, Jill (Kendrick), is perfect, and although not she’s not the female version of Luke, as Kate is, Jill is nevertheless perfect for him. Although, Luke is still having some difficulties nailing down date a wedding date, he has no desire to endanger his relationship with her.

Obviously, with no script, Drinking Buddies  isn’t a plot-driven movie; it’s not even a character study. It’s a study of a scenario, an exploration of a real romantic situation: Swanberg throws four actors together, gives them a few parameters, and allows them to follow the natural progression of these characters. It’s absurd how well they navigate the challenge. In fact, the lack of script drives the authenticity; the improvisation forces the characters to face the situation as they might in real life, and combined with the actors’ lively natural senses of humor, a sincere, funny, and genuine movie is born.
Pajiba

Directed by Joe Swanberg for fans of mumblecore, an improvised film starring Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick and Ron Livingston. I'm pretty excited for it.

Thank you.

And it's a damn shame.
Alison Pill is always lowkey great in everything she's in, and I've always really liked Emily Mortimer.
But they're both just ******, grating and humiliating characters on Newsroom.

You never could've told me ahead of time that Olivia Munn would be the best woman on the show. :smh:

Advanced screening first night. I'm there.

Speaking of Olivia Wilde, there's this movie, Deadfall, that came out last year. It's a terrible movie, but there's one or two scenes worth watching for her. And it's got Eric Bana with a hilarious southern accent. And Charlie Hunnam, aka Jax, aka Jay.

I'm pissed that Johnny depp dropped out of the staring role for Wes Anderson's next movie. He's been annoying me for a few years now :smh:

The cast look good though

I watched Jackie Brown twice this weekend for the first time in a long time (probably since it first came out)

I think it's now my favorite Tarantino flick after the Kill Bill volumes.

in every Tarantino flick does a character say:  "Now you should listen to this, cause this concerns you"

I know i've heard it in Kill Bill and Jackie Brown, but I can't recall if it's in any of the others as I haven't seen them in a while

So I watched The Hobbit...what a nothing of a movie.

Just...shameless, shameless padding of the story. They stretch even the dumbest action, like lemme tie my shoe, into a 20 minute thing that they think is funny. And they really think they found a new Aragorn. They really think this is the new fellowship and we'll like. It's just this generic lame gang of dwarves.

They could've thrown away everything except about 45 minutes.
But the action in the last hour did look gorgeous.
Pointless and hollow...but well done I guess.

And Bilbo. :smh: No.

so what you're saying is, it's like if the Ewoks got a trilogy of their own?
Oh...wow....damn. :smh:

It's the best made LOTR film and there are 3 scenes that are Avatar quality.

But the whole thing is hollow and dragged out and there aren't any real characters in this film, just...yeah...Ewoks...and a couple cameos.
