Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Been burning through some stuff over spring break.. GoldenEye.. :pimp:

I watched Children of Men for the first time in probably a year and I forget how much I really do love that movie. It works on so many levels for me and Cuaron is just a great director. It's dark, violent, and it feels more relevant than a lot of dystopian future films do. Love it.

Battle Royale... :wow: :x I'll post full thoughts on that after I soak it in.

I've been wanting to watch it on Netflix for the longest. Keep hearing how close it is to Hungar Games but with more gore

Yo there's this rerun of Modern Family and Rafi is guest starring on it as the daughter's bf

Finished up the season to of The League recently and watched that Modern Family episode before I started watching The League, so when I realized he was in this episode when I saw the rerun I chuckled.

Watched Wreck-It Ralph and Seven Psychopaths; enjoyed both.

Wreck-It was really, really good. The best animated film I've watched since Toy Story 3.

Seeing all those video game characters had me all nostalgic. Sarah Silverman did her thing as Vanellope.

The scene where Ralph destroyed Vanellope's go-cart and  her reaction to it had me legit sad.

The characters in Seven Psychopaths were awesome.

Billy, Charlie, Hans, and Charlie were wildin'. Even had a mini Boardwalk Empire reunion in the beginning.
Can't rock with what Charlie did to Myra though.

Oh yeah, I liked Cowboys
I thought it was horrible...... but it was also one of those movies that I had really high hopes for

That's me though, I will admit at times I can get caught up in the idea or premise of a flick much more than what it was or the execution of it. So when that happens I won't completely think it is terrible even when I'm aware of bad scenes, dialogue, acting, etc.

This though, I barely remember the commercials or trailer for it. Olivia Wilde was mentioned a bit in this thread or I was seeing her name around a bit so I felt like watching a flick with her in it and for some reason I opted for this instead of Tron  I had no expectations for this other than finding the premise really intriguing. Saw this a month ago btw and notice it's rerunning on HBO a lot now. I mean when we think of these alien invasion/abduction or 1st encounter stories they're usually occurring in the modern day. My thing is if aliens exist and have been to Earth why not have it be more reasonable that they've been through different time periods. So I say why not have aliens come to earth during the era of Cowboys and "Indians". Not that far fetched.

Movie itself was basic. Alien villains were generic. The twist in the middle with the aforementioned was weak but the action scenes were okay and I'd say the 1st part where it was just a western with the mysterious loner coming in to town conflict with the sheriff and the town's bad guy was pretty good. Transitions from one situation to the next were pretty bad though, so was how they won.

Liked Craig as that kind of character (he should do an actual western) and I gotta say for all the stars involved (Forde Wilde, Rockwell, etc.) it was a weird movie choice to be a part of and it's crazy cuz if you tell me that cast and nothing else I'd say I'd have to check that out in theaters. Gotta chalk it up to being a cash grab or maybe somebody actually convinced them this would be a hit
The Cowboys & Aliens comic book sucked ***, but compared to the movie it was a masterpiece.
Damn didn't even know it was originally a comic

Yea, I mean Iron Man 2 was pretty trash, but Favreau kept talking up how it was the studio's fault, so people were still big on him. And that was his first thing after it, so people were pretty hype, even though the trailers weren't too special.
Oh Favreau directed this!? :x When you get the info on your tv they should include director along with the cast. I'm not a fan of dude. He was never an exceptional actor but he should've stayed that cuz at least he had a niche and could've went on to be typecast as that guy in movies. Plus I'm just stuck on preferring to see dude along side Vince Vaughn.
And it sucks more when you know that RDJ was originally casted.
Hmmmm that would've been different. Gives the movie a whole different tone and feel when I think about it. not sure it would've been better though. That script.

More I think about it, I just liked the idea of it. It's more like I can tolerate Cowboys & Aliens and not immediately change the channel.

yea if you watched battle royale before hunger games you would think hunger games was pure trash

battle royale came out 13 years ago. Americans were gonna make a remake of it but hunger games came out instead which ruined the plans for a remake. thank god.

but stay far away from battle royale 2

Is anyone else looking forward to watching the Phil Spector movie with al Pacino on HBO.?

You don't know jack was pretty awesome, I like hbos movies..

First time watching The King Of Comedy last night. Loved it.

All I knew going into it was that it stared Lewis/DeNiro, and that Scorsese directed it. That's all, so I had no idea DeNiro was a nutjob  .

:smokin I put this on our answering machine for a week until my wife discovered I did that & changed it... You should've heard some of the people that left messages...They started out in a confused state... I also got a message from a male telemarketer who said that was bad *** as he was hanging up... One of the best movie quotes of all time...

That girl is so amazing. She has to distract every single room she enters. :smh:

The most recent 3 Star Wars movies were soooooo bad.

I was so excited to see them in theaters back in the day too. My dad knew I liked Star Wars, so he surprised me with tix to see the Phantom Menace on opening day....

But I just rewatched all of them, and wtf were they thinking. The last 40 mins of "Revenge of the Sith" was crazy though
