Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

flowers of war is a great movie, i've been trying to find empire of the sun but no luck.

i've been hearing alot about this 47 ronin, supposed to be out in december.

I totally agree with what someone said about Killing Them Softly the cinematography was superb.
Yup. Basically the only good thing to take away from it.
I've been trying to get people in my circle to see Life Of Pi but its like pulling teeth.
Yea. It's really good, but the trailers do make it look like the corniest thing since Titanic.

I like Ang Lee a lot. Very diverse filmography. I meant to see it in theaters but didn't have time. I bought it on Blu Ray & plan to watch it with the family this weekend.

Kingdom of Heaven is in the same vein, worth a look, but not Troy or Gladiator to me.
Do Game of Thrones and Spartacus: Blood and Sand count?
Cuz they'd be at the top of the list then.

Kingdom of Heaven...if you can get past Orlando Bloom, it's a pretty great movie. But make sure you watch the director's cut.

13 Assassins is great. Japanese flick.

I guess 300 is cool for what it is...Hero? Apocalypto, maybe?...Valhalla Rising? I dunno...
I watched like half of Kigdom of Heaven and never got back in to it. 300 and GoT have been watched. Been holding off on Spartacus.

I never noticed how may movies Orlando Bloom has been in. Is that him in LoT? or some lookalike? I use to think of him as dude from Pirates and recently that bad role in the 3 musketeers movie

I'll peep he rest though

Saw The Place Beyond the Pines at a screening today, it was excellent.

It's a complex 3-part story which features great work from Ryan Gosling, Ben Mendelsohn and a brilliant performance from Dane Dehaan.

Going to be a hard review to write but make sure you see it on March 29th and don't read anything about the film before you see it. Some reviews will spoil things for you.

Nice "head's up" venom lyrix.

IndieWire (The Playlist) posted a story about Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios sharing Joss Whedon's reaction to the ending or Iron Man 3. Hope the movie is good. The second one was disappointing.

Meanwhile, in meaningless update news, Kevin Feige has revealed that Joss Whedon has seen the conclusion of "Iron Man 3." So what did he say? “Now what am I supposed to do now? What am I going to do in 'Avengers 2'?” YOU GUYS. That guarantees "Iron Man 3" is going to blow our minds and/or Shane Black found an even better restaurant for the post-credits sequence.

Gosling is my dude!!!

How come a movie written by Charlie Kaufman hasn't been made in over 4 years?

And no concrete info on imdb about his next movies. Just two names.

SMH. I still need to see Synecdoche

I also find it hilarious that he wrote an episode of moral oral

Isn't he writing a book?

Either way, I imagine his process takes longer than most, whatever the hell it consists of.

On Synecdoche... Buckle up. Still the most mind-numbing movie I've ever watched. Haven't been able to finish it a second time. Too much.

In what way? Super original and meta like Malcovich and adaptation? Or very depressing or something

I totally agree with what someone said about Killing Them Softly the cinematography was superb. Thought Looper had it on lock but this surpassed it. I've been trying to get people in my circle to see Life Of Pi but its like pulling teeth.

Those of you who haven't saw Shawshank and don't plan to...at least read the short story. It was awesome.

I finally saw Chinatown a few weeks ago and I can totally understand the hype it gets for greatest movie of all-time in some circles. The story had many layers which most if not all of the points of the layers attributing to the plot solved. Polanski also did a great job directing. I plan on watching the Two Jakes as soon as Spring Break starts. FINALLY I also got my hands on the "A Better Tomorrow" series. Can't wait to watch that again.

I'm more of a fan of Hard Boiled and The Killer but those A Better Tomorrow movies were the films that got me into Asian cinema outside of martial arts flicks. Chow Yun-Fat is that dude and I feel like he should have been a bigger actor in the west.

One movie that wasn't mentioned in the vein of Kingdom of Heaven/300/Troy etc., Alexander? :nerd: Or what about Immortals?

I watched Bates Motel last night, and I'm a sucker.

I'm in.

I loved it. I love Vera, and I thought the kid did a great job trying to be Norman. The stuff with the teenage kids was just alright, but that's okay, I understand the meaning of it. Norma and Norman have great chemistry together, and I can't wait to see what the series has in store.

Chewbacca had that real ***** loyalty

That first lightsaber fight between Luke and Vader in "The Empire Strikes Back" :pimp:

It was almost completely forgettable to me.

Too bland. A&E bland. Reminded me of Longmire in that way. Probably not the network for something like this. And prequels, in and of themselves, are generally bland.

I'll give it a fair shake, but I imagine it'll lose me within two more episodes. And I love Vera and Hitchcock. Even liked that it was modernized, which I didn't expect.

It's kind of a wet dream for me, because I've seen the original Psycho too many times to count, and always thought the relationship between the mother and Norman was very interesting.

Admittedly, it is pretty bland, but as long as they explore the relationship between those two in-depth, it'll keep me watching. I don't expect it to be a major hit with the normal audience, but more of a niche show.

It's better than anything fictional on A&E though, not that it's saying much.

There's things that are a bit out there, like Norman finding the Japanese diary, but we'll see.

I expect more of the same out of the NBC thriller Hannibal, but we'll see.

Bates Motel pilot felt like a regular, not for me, ABC show, but maybe half a notch up, because cmon...Vera.

I mean, I guess it's got a little more edge, but you could show this on network at 10pm, cuz how much edge can you really add to fluff anyways?

And yeah, bonus points cuz I expected Pleasantville to break out and it didn't.

At first I was gonna gush over how much I loved the movie...til I realized, it's been permanently on my 'must watch again ASAP' list ever since it came out, and I don't see that changing any time soon. :smh:

It's...a lot. Just...a hell of a lot to take in, brilliantly. It's too deep and meaningful for it's own rewatchability.
