Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The first two Lethal Weapon movies are good. The 3rd is decent, but not as good as the earlier ones, IMO. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover have very good chemistry in the movies.

is it better than the first 2 rush hours?

Apples and oranges. They mean like the same thing for dif times.
Like I would take the Rush Hour movies over the Lethal Weapons, but that's cuz those were the movies growin up. Line around the block.

Lethal Weapon was before my time and I still enjoyed the hell out of them.

Would 48 hrs be the "lethal weapon" of it's time?

Yeah, they're hard to compare. The Lethal Weapons are darker. While the Lethal Weapon movies have some funny moments, the Rush Hour films are more overtly comedic. I'd say the Lethal Weapon movies are better, but like Mr. O suggested, that might be a generational thing. I'd already been through the Lethal Weapons by the time the Rush Hour films started coming out.

It doesn't really surprise me when people haven't seen those kind of 80s/90s action movies. If you didn't see them at the time or on cable a half a dozen times later on, they're usually not the same and there's no a huge draw for a newcomer to jump in.

Now universally beloved movies like Lion King or Forrest Gump? Yeah, that always surprises me. Then it's "Certified old-school classics" like Godfather, Cascablanca, Chinatown, etc. that people who can't watch a movie prior to 1980 just avoid for whatever reasons or who just haven't been exposed to older classics... that I understand more.

But just for me, once I started getting serious about being a movie fan and once I got a Netflix account (or the internet), I added as many classics and most talked about or influential movies I could find. Even if I didn't like them, so many older movies are crucial to understand the history of film and influences on modern directors and movies. I'm never going to be watching a Tarantino interview and say "I know and have seen all those obscure directors and movies", but I like to be as educated as possible.

Thing is I loved 48 hours, beverly hills cop, both predators. Yes I liked the second one. The karate kids. Just for some reason lethal weapon was always put on the back burner. I know I've see chunks of the first though

Only see parts of commando too :nerd:

And no Steven segal movies stick out.

Look, if you wanna fight me, just say it and we can meet up. **** man.

Out For Justice is pure bliss.
Under Siege? UNDER SIEGE?????? How can you not like that movie??????
Marked for Death was solid and fun.
Hard to Kill, meh.

Above the Law is the only one of his early work that doesn't do it for me. Don't know why.

Lethal Weapon 1-4 is about as solid a franchise as you'll find. There is NO letdown in any of them. NONE.

 I didn't know Johnny Drama had a small role in 24 season 2.

I swear, this Kim storyline is so annoying and straight filler. Can't stand her character. Every time she's on screen I just think "The Girl Next Door"

goodness, I thought Jack Beaur's wife having amnesia would make her more bearable...... it makes her the same. If not worse. Please die soon.

his daughter needs to die too.... so does Palmer's son.

I really didn't realize until I finished the season and started the second how annoying some of the characters are.

The subplots are annoying as hell. I think i'm going to skip the rest of the seasons once I finish 2 and go straight to 5. :smokin

Yes, same formula with less and less worthwhile ideas each new season. Watching all of it sounds like such a chore to me.

It's rough to say the least. That's why I want to go straight to 5 since that was when it sort of "rebooted" in a way.

Ahhh kinda saw that coming. Does every season involve his family being in danger?? If so, I ain't watching any more of his wife and hot *** daughter
