Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Tim Burton's gonna make a biopic called, Big Eyes at The Weinstein Company, from the writers of Ed Wood, The People vs. Larry Flint and The Man on the Moon.

The film will tell the true story of married couple Walter and Margaret Keane, who became art world phenomenons in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to their paintings of large-eyed children. However, when they split up, a legal battle ensued, with Walter trying to take credit for paintings which were actually done by his wife. But when it came to a showdown in count, where they actually faced off canvas vs. canvas, Margaret emerged victorious while Walter tried to feign a pain in his arm.

Dude was one my favorite directors once, and this is gonna star Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz.

I don't know what it is, but it feels like if Burton could make another great movie, this is the way to go.

Can't be worse than Ed Wood.

I feel like Burton is too far out of touch with today's filmmaking to give us another hit. :\

Ed wood was great. But I can see why many would hate it.

I still can't believe how bad he messed up willy wonka. I've lost faith in him

The best Tim Burton movie ever is still Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Just watched it twice this week with my son. It was his first time seeing it and he loved it.

I like Ed Wood a lot too. Most of his other movies disappointed me. Like, they seemed like they would be awesome, but just weren't. Sleepy Hollow, for example.

Edward sissorhands will always be my favorite.

Classic

I'm half way through lethal weapon 1. This is dark. Not totally what I expected.

But he just blasted a smiley face into the target at the shooting range. Hilarious. Two of them got wonderful chemistry. Gonna finish tomorrow.

Finished lethal weapon. Great movie. Even with its corny and over the top moments in the second half. I can easily see why it blew up. The music is so 80s lol. Rush hour is much funnier. Different styles. For a buddy cop movie this was rather dark. I loved the heroin Vietnam connection and the connection with the hookers. Showed me that they actually crafted a plot instead of just going into it relying on straight bullets and star power

I know I'm gonna catch flack but I've only seen parts of poltergeist. Comes on IFC Thursday night.

IFC is the best channel out by a huge margin for catching quality movies. Check for it regularly.

Funny yall mentioned Ed Wood on the last page...

Art fans this is for you! Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz to play Walter and Margaret Keane in Tim Burton's BIG EYES, which was written by the folks who did Ed Wood - http://wp.me/p2CCWq-2Or

Currently watching The Book of Eli. One of my all time favorite movies. The word presented in it, as well as the way it is shot is just amazing.

At least you're not wasting people's time.

JA...this looks pretty damn good as far as today's horror goes.

Apparently, it couldn't get a PG-13 rating, not because of anything graphic, but because of the tone. Tone.

I've never heard that one before.

Yeaaah, kind of agree with Dub. I've seen countless movies come and go with pretty much that same premise.

I'm not saying I won't give it a chance, because I will most likely, especially if it gets good reviews.

With horror today, you just don't get very many good films. Normally, the reviewers are spot on with the consensus I come to with a film if we're talking about horror films.

2012 only had two decent horror films the entire year, and I saw pretty much everything that was worth seeing.

I've heard of it, and will keep my eye on it, but not entirely optimistic.

Brink was awesome though. :pimp:

I watched that on tv the other day..I really liked this movie and love the overall look of the film..My only issue was that dude had basically memorized the Bible..Which, to me, is insanely far fetched..Other than that it was really good..Oldman always plays such good bad guys..

The stuff that Marvel is doing is absolutely freaking brilliant. DC might as well just shut the **** down, they don't stand a chance.

In the next 3 years ,Marvel will have pretty much tripled DC in box office earnings. And if not for Nolan's work, it would be 5 times as much.

This is what gives me such high hopes for Disney handling Star Wars the proper way. Forward thinking. Planning. Long term casting. Really well done.

Dub, glad you liked Lethal Weapon. Do not stop. DO, NOT. The next 2 have just as many dark moments, yet the light and funny buddy cop moments. I'm tellin you, this franchise is above almost every other, especially the continuity of the cast. You'll see as you go thru it all.

Noskey, I have no idea what you mean by Lethal Weapon 5. Rumored forever and ever, but nothing has ever been done. Or are you joking about another movie that copies them or something?

So last night, I finally sat down and watched Shaun of the Dead.

Meh.

Some strange reason, felt like I'd already seen the whole movie with all the recycled gifs runnin thru here.......

Couple parts made me laugh pretty good, the first zombie chick attacking Shaun, and dude goes in to get a camera. THAT cracked me up for some reason.

When they pretend to be zombies to blend in and dude gets a phone call and just starts talking.

That **** was golden.
Dude has 29 shells and proceeds to shoot everything in the room but the zombies.

The final scene with the reality tv stuff with zombies was freaking brilliant. Stacking grocery carts and ****.

A+ for that scene alone.

I imagine if I sit and watch it multiple times I'll pick up more things and get a few more laughs out of it. It was well done overall tho.

8.5 for right now, I could probably bump it to 9 with another watch to pick up some new stuff.
Totally agree.
