Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I recently watch "Tombstone" and Doc Holiday is now on my list of favorite characters from a movie. :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Anyone catch the Beyonce/Andre 3000 cover of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black at the beginning of the trailer? If the movie bombs, it should have a decent soundtrack at least...

Yeah I'm thinking the same about the soundtrack. I think I heard Lana Del Ray and Florence and the Machine as well

Val Kilmer was a gifted actor & Tombstone was a great vehicle for him.

I love the last scene of Unforgiven after William Munny (Eastwood) kills Little Bill (Hackman). I still get chills when Munny tells the town that if anyone shots him he'll kill that man, his family, & burn their house down & likewise if they don't bury his friend Ned Logan (Freeman). I couldn't find it on youtube. That ish was hardcore.

i wanna see if you guys can help me remember a movie that i saw as younging (mid to late 90s)..

the only scene i remember goes as follows..

some dude is about to be hung and he's standing on a chair, and another character antagonizes him by slowly shooting each one of the legs on the chair.

You ain't no daisy, you ain't no daisy.

One of the better performances I've ever seen. Every second of screen time, Kilmer owned that film. Every wink, smirk, mannerism, he was incredible.

Sometimes you just have an actor takeover a movie and that's exactly what Val Kilmer did with tombstone.

His performance was really Great.

Might go home and watch it now. : lol

RIP, Roger.

I didn't agree with his reviews a lot of the time, but you could tell the guy really loved movies and I still enjoyed his show.

as good as kilmer was in tombstone, this is still my favorite scene of the movie:

and if we're talking westerns.. everyone should have at least watched (unforgiven was already mentioned):

- once upon a time in the west

- leone's 'man with no name' trilogy

- the wild bunch

- butch cassidy and the sundance kid

He was battling cancer for a while wasn't he?

He had thyroid and salivary gland cancer which required removal of most of his throat & chin. It left him severely disfigured but he continued to work. He recently broke his leg & while at the hospital, they found additional cancer.

After talk of westerns in here the other day, I popped in Open Range to watch a few minutes. The gun fights in this movie are crazy with surround sound. Kevin Costner's opening shot scared the ish out of my sleeping dog. She happened to be sleeping near a front channel & the subwoofer... Poor pooch... I love the "absolution" in westerns.

Add 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit as well.
I didn't really like the first True Grit though, Bridges was great and Hailee Steinfeld looks like she'll have a great career

The new 3 10 was awesome until that whack ending. And the whole Jesus analogy was I dunno I think misplaced and directly led to the ending which I hated

No love for blazing saddles?

RIP Mr. Ebert.

You may not agree with his views, but he was a legend and he helped pave the way for film reviewers.

Ill miss reading his reviews.

Since I couldn't come close to my rewatch of 24 I need a new show. I was watching via amazon prime instant video anybody have any good recommendations?

I'm thinking The Shield but I dunno if I've heard so many good things it'll live up to the hype that's been created.
