Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I just looked over some of my DVDs & blu rays... If we're talking crime flicks in general & if you like foreign flicks, this one was really really good. Very heavy, The Prophet. It's about a young French Arab man sent to prison where he becomes a kingpin.

Also add City Of God, Bitter Sweet life, & Infernal Affairs to round out my foreign recommendations.

As far as more American crime flicks, gotta add Drive, Eastern Promises, Until The Devil Knows Your Dead, We Own The Night, & Miller's Crossing. Also RockNRolla...

Throw in Point Break,
Running Scared (with Paul Walker)
Usual Suspects if he hasn't seen it.
Lucky Number Sleven?
I barely remembered if these were actual heist movies cuz I haven't seen them in a while. Suspects was so much more mystery, Sleven was like a revenge story, and Running Scared counts but the format in how it was shot with the lil boy lost for most of it encountering all those sick ppl was played up more than w/e robbery was going on

Good movies though.

I don't care for Mackie much. I like that a black actor is getting his due but acting wise I don't think Mackie is that good.

Should've been Derek Luke.

What of Mackie have you seen that you haven't liked him in?

The films he has coming out over the next year are insane

These are all movies I've seen him in that I didn't care for his portrayal or I really didn't like and felt hurt the movie:

The Adjustment Bureau
Man On A Ledge
8 Mile
Notorious
We Are Marshall
Real Steel

There's other low budget hood movies I've seen him in also that he wasn't really good imo. Granted he hasn't been the lead role or even supporting role in many good movies to begin with as we see from his filmography. There's just this kind of overacting stiffness/sameness to his style that I really don't like. Best thing he seems to be good at is giving the stink eye and looking surprised.

Didn't see it but I felt it was a slap in the face that he was even in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter :smh: To date the only movies I felt he was okay in are She Hate Me and The Hurt Locker. Not expecting much from him in Pain & Gain which I'm not gonna watch most likely and I expect him to be tolerable in the Cap movie and after a quick look at what films he'll be in later this year I don't see anything that stands out.
I jumped on the Anthony Mackie train many years ago. Knew this was coming for him.
Damn there's a train now?

Gone Baby was dope but I'm a big Casey Affleck fan so who knows. The first Boondocks Saints is really cool and fresh and Wilhem Defoe is great in his role...

I had goose bumps watching the trailer... Takes me back to the days of being a wee lad sitting in the dark of the movie theater with the faint clicking of the projector in the back round watching in absolute amazement of whatever movie. Pop corn, soda, & candy in hand... :D
