Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

quick question, the hulk on the avengers was based on the continuation of he 2003 movie or the 2008 one? the 2008 one is called  The Incredible Hulk 03 is just Hulk
Technically yes and no or both. Hulk with Eric Bana for the most part got ditched cuz it didn't do good in the box office and Marvel didn't make it, Universal Studios/NBC did but when they got the rights back and were making The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton they didn't want to do a remake entirely with a repeat origin so it loosely picks up from where Hulk left off since there's this 5 year gap but for the most part ignores it. There's other small details like Norton rewriting the script and retconning the Hulk's origin as well and establishing that in the beginning of the movie. Avengers picks up very loosely from the 2008 Hulk movie as far as the Hulk character goes.

I wish Ed Norton did The Avengers. He was by far the best Bruce Banner

and the "what the F is going on" line was homage to the 2nd film which Helms' character yells in the alley when Cooper gets shot.

"The weird scene in the Pawn Shop that wasn't funny... can't even tell you how awkward it was in the theater, " - uh...that's the point...awkward comedy, especially between those two.

"Justin Bartha being the cliche throwaway character for 3 movies" - because he doesn't matter, who cares that he isn't used, he's not essential to the story.

"the scene with Carlos/Heather Graham wasn't necessary" - absolutely insane to say this. It was one of the best scenes in the entire trilogy and it brought the story full circle from the first film.

Hey, I'm not attempting to be negative (I liked the whole 21 million reveal when they realize what they did, and the walking to the wedding scene at the end) but I can't trust your movie taste if you say this was a good comedy. The first one, GREAT! Loved it. The last two :smh:

Bartha isn't essential to ANY of the stories. How repetitive is that?

It wasn't awkward comedy, it was AWKWARD. No one laughed or thought it was funny. Phillips even managed to make the very funny Melissa McCarthy unfunny.

Yes, I mentioned that line and how it was in the other films. Why does Phillips feel the need to do homages at all (and for a line that's not even that significant)? Especially after all the criticism he drew for the second film being the same as the first.

And the whole Carlos/Heather Graham... brought the whole trilogy full circle  Who cares? Another god damn homage. The pinnacle of the franchise wasn't Carlos & Alan, it was the brilliant jokes scripted into the first one. How about instead of homages and reunions just focus on making a good comedy.

I'm pretty angry about the negative reviews for The Hangover Part III.

Not because "critics" and fans are writing bad reviews, but the reason they are giving for bad reviews.

I found it to be very funny, it's not perfect, but it's certainly better then 2 and it's a nice close to the trilogy.

i usually dont agree with your reviews but im glad to hear something positive about hangover 3

gonna see this and star trek finally tomorrow.

It's not at the end of the credits... it's like 30 seconds after the end of the movie.

Is the Harry potter series worth a watch or is it just a kids series?
I'd probably agree with reading the books before watching the movies cuz every time I've tried to watch any of the movies I tune out and lose interest 20-30 min in.

Every time I think about it and how/why Ed got the boot and with what we got in Avengers I'm overall disappointed for any future potential, especially now (looking at how he was thrown in credits scene for IM3) that it's basically pretty much confirmed as reality. for me at least, that we won't be seeing another Hulk film in a long time.

Yooooo SON! After this recent ep I feel like I need to take a month's break from the show. So many feels. So much new shh to take in, got my mind going thinking of so many ways this can go. I felt they went too far with the kid but then they calm my fears this ep only to bring almost everything to it's apex with Art, Sarah, and Delphine.

Another relatively new series I'll be checking on BBC America is Copper. I missed the 1st season last summer but I'll try to catch up just off what I saw and who I saw in commercials.

Totally digging the period pieces on tv right now.

I wonder what kind of chemistry him and Downey jr would have had..

That was the best thing ruffalo brought/brings to the table
This is true after I recently re-watched the Avengers but I still would've preferred Ed, he brings a lot more. I'm pretty confident he would've had great chemistry with RDJR.

Michael not knowing his girlfriend is mentally handicapped, and then them flashing back to all the scenes where it was obvious

 at the thing on the zipline hitting him again.

Good movie but Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was depressing as **** for like the last half of it. I dunno but I came in thinking it'd be more comedy and not another one of Carell's Dan in Real Life joints.

So yeah, good movie, had a decent amount of very parts and it's probably deeper if I think about it and get in to it but the finality didn't bring acceptance just a depressed feeling.

^ that movie was so damn terrible. It wasn't funny at all. Dialogue was horrible, acting was horrible. Basically everything about this movie was horrible.

I chuckled when I saw Magic Mike was showing on HBO last night, didn't get around to watching it though, just saw one part where this dude was passed out and his sister was freaking out.

Well I wouldn't agree with all that. Wasn't meant to be a comedy though but it did have it's funny bits.

Finished watching all of Arrested Development. Pretty funny throughout the characters were great but you could tell they mailed it in throughout season 3.

Man, is there ANY movie out that has a book form... that people DON'T say 'Read the book. It's better" about? :lol:I feel like that's just a standard response.Like forever and always, if there'ss ever a movie that comes out after a book... "Read the book. It's better."Like if someone actually has experienced both, and someone ELSE asks for an opinion on the movie, and that first person just said "Enh, you don't HAVE to read the book. Just watch the movie," the rest of the community of folks who have experienced both would shun him.

Silver Linings Playbook was a book first, but I've seen the people saying the movie was better.

Were these people leprechauns? Riding unicorns?Swear that's all I hear if there's a book out on a movie.Like I want to ask people "OK, aside from the 2 facts that I have to read the book first, and the book is infinitely better... what did you think of the movie?" if there's a movie I'm curious about and it has a book version that came before it.

So, what I'm hearing is that you don't like to read. Right?

Also, I haven't done a real survey, but I doubt there's too many people who will say the Silence of the Lambs book was better than the movie. Same with Devil Wears Prada and the Steven King novella on which Stand By Me was based.

"I hate that people stay coming with a rehearsed, standardized response" =/= "I don't like to read."

No part of what I've said in the last few posts has anything to do with whether or not I like to read.
