Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

First off, who wants to see a Hilary Clinton biopic?

But it's about time that my girl Carey takes over the industry. This is the kind of role that will push her towards that kind of vast exposure. And, well, Gatsby.

Anyone seen 10 Years?

Strictly about a high school reunion. I remember seeing a preview for it in theaters what seemed like five years ago, but it just came out in 2011.

Channing Tatum, his real wife, Rosario Dawson, Justin Long, the dude that is about to play the lead role in Llewyn Davis, Anthony Mackie, the other dude from We Are Marshall, Aubrey Plaza, Kate Mara, Ari Graynor, Chris Pratt, Street from Friday Night Lights, the dude that isn't Zuckerberg in The Social Network, Office Space dude, Aaron Yoo...

Nice little flick. Nothing groundbreaking, but a decent character study/dialogue (albeit predictable) kind of movie. Mostly just a fun cast.

My biggest takeaway was either how much I love Justin Long, or the Llewyn Davis cat. Feel like he's going to be a star. He's playing Pablo Escobar in a biopic soon, too.

I saw 10 Years a couple of weeks ago on Starz. It was a week night I couldn't fall back to sleep & found that on the tube. It was ok, had a nice cast though including Anthony Mackie. It was aiight, a decent cable movie. I guess they tried to make a new generation's version of The Big Chill but 10 Years didn't have a memorable soundtrack...

Anton Corbijn is an enigma for me. I loved Control based on Joy Division's Ian Curtis along with docs on U2 & Depeche Mode.

The American was just "meh". I hope his new flick, A Most Wanted Man starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe, Daniel Bruhl, & Robin Wright is good.

Based on John le Carre's novel (Constant Gardner & Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). The book is about a young Chechen ex-prisoner arrives illegally in Germany, practically uneducated and destitute, but with a claim to a fortune held in a private bank. Not sure how the film will be adapted.

The movie is in post production. There's a trailer for it on youtube but it's marked private... I've read the movie doesn't have US distro yet...

They need to stop with all the different previews for this is the end. Getting really annoyed already. Keep the good parts to yourself

yeah i wish they didnt show that jonah hill scene. really jay, the power of christ compels me, because it's not that compelling

I hope this is good... Great cast... Looks like Mr. Miley Cyrus is trying to make moves... I love that 'Ary is breaking out the ole accent for this role. Always good to see Oldman, but to see him vs Harrison Ford should be a treat (hopefully)... Corporate espionage is no joke though...

Went to the screening of This is the End last night and I loved it, if you are a fan of those guys and Apatow comedies you'll enjoy it too.

Oscar Isaac is the man. One of the best actors in Hollywood and once everyone sees him in Inside Llewyn Davis he will become a big time leading man in Hollywood.

internship looks so terrible that i am going to see the purge this week.

although the purge looks like a lifetime/scyfy movie the plot is different.

the purge is a super short movie though at one hour 25 minutes....

^^When Vaughn is on he's amazing and he's in some of my favorite comedies ever but he's been in some turds recently and The Internship looks like another turd.

Roger Ebert  (1942-2013) was the world’s most respected and celebrated film critic. I can’t possibly do justice to his legendary career in the movies. For that, I recommend this beautiful obituary  from The Chicago Sun-Times, the newspaper Ebert worked for since 1967.

To be honest, up until about four years ago I only knew Ebert from seeing his name on movie posters with the famous “Two thumbs up” tagline. His television shows and film reviews never appeared in Australia (that I know of), so he was always just the ‘movie review guy’ to me.

That was until I found his blog. After Ebert was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002 he underwent several surgeries which left him without a lower jaw or the ability to speak. He found solace on the internet, where he applied his Pulitzer-prize writing skills to the world of blogging. His blog, Roger Ebert’s Journal, took the place of the voice that he had tragically lost and will go down as one of the best-written blogs the internet has ever seen. I don’t remember how I stumbled upon it, but it quickly became one of my favourites. Some of his best articles include his takedown of the pro-creationist film Expelled, where Ebert beautifully argues the case for evolution, his infamous post on why video games can never be art  (I strongly disagree with him on that topic) and his past battles with alcoholism  (there are literally hundreds of more fantastic posts you can read in the archives). In 2010, Ebert won the Webby award for person of the year “for his contributions to the craft of online writing and journalism” and making the internet “a more thoughtful, engaging and self-aware environment.”

This quote was taken from Ebert’s autobiography Life Itself, which is being turned into a documentary  produced by Martin Scorsese.

Man, ppl keep giving Ebert all the shine, what about my boy Siskel :nerd:

EDIT

In The Flesh is crazy! It's like a serious take on Warm Bodies. Talking about partially deceased syndrome suffers. I can't even imagine that type of reality :smh: :x

The Purge seems like a terrific concept for a movie but I KNOW the execution is going to be bad.

Lola Versus. [emoji]128528[/emoji][emoji]128299[/emoji]

This is just how bad Girls could be, but isn't. Greta Gerwig is so grating to me.

Watching Friday for the first time. :pimp:
One of my favorite lines in that movie is:
Smokey:"
I'm going to run over
and get you the gun, right?

Then I'm going home to chill.

You wait for them N_s.
Later on, call me
and let me know what happened."
