Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I hope this is good... Great cast... Looks like Mr. Miley Cyrus is trying to make moves... I love that 'Ary is breaking out the ole accent for this role. Always good to see Oldman, but to see him vs Harrison Ford should be a treat (hopefully)... Corporate espionage is no joke though...

I'm not one to complain about trailers showing too much, but this one literally showed the entire plot

On the plus side Amber Heard :pimp: and Gary Oldman is always appreciated.

Thor's younger brother is probably a terrible actor, though.
Oh man you aint lying, this is like the Eddie Murphy part of Trading Places taken seriously with 2 Gordon Gecko's.

In the face, I still confuse Liam for Chris. While watching Expendables 2, I was like damn Chris lost a lot of muscle mass for this role  :smh: and was so lost that they could kill Thor in the first 30 min of that movie.

Amber Heard though :smokin

I'm not one for horror films but the trailer for Insidious 2 confirmed for me (the lady who stood up in that old timey dress) once again that you guys in th eeast coast are filled way more with ghosts and paranormal crap since there was more history there then here in cali. SF is a little over 100 years old  and you got centuries of tormented and avengeful deaths on the east.

I don't have a favourite actor and I don't know who to start with on the list even if i tried.

How was eastern promises ?

I love Eastern Promises... I liked it more than Viggo's other David Cronenberg flick The History Of Violence. Viggo's Nikolai is a bad ***... If you watch, post back on how you liked it...

Edit - great feature from the dvd/blu ray for a pivotal scene in the movie.

If I had a blog I would title this post Boredom and a Boner, which would be my brief review of I love You, Beth Cooper. Now, I heard Roger Ebert's condemning review years ago on his show when the movie hit theaters, and I've seen a couple of clips here and there that confirmed his disdain for the feature, but I was bored, Hayden is pretty, and I didn't feel like getting up to grab my Xbox controller and turn on Netflix so I labored through the movie. One thing that bothers me about this genre (nerd in love), how corny they always make the nerd look. Like why must the protagonist's gay friend have a Robin Hood towel snapping scene up the stairs against a speedball filled marine? And where is the pizzazz of the protagonist that gave that speech throughout the film. There's only like two moments where he shows that "bravery" and more often than not, he plays that irritating gosh you're such a herb character that requires very little in terms of depth and ability to write. Plus, Idk if it's the FX version, but what the hell, no shots of Hayden in lingerie? Like okay there's idk 10 minutes left so maybe I'll get a peek of her dad's favorite spot on her body but it's becoming doubtful as these nerds keep making obscure film references that I unfortunately know. And this dude keeps fighting he's gay, yet he's rehearsing Shakespeare and doing cheer moves, like who cares, if you're gay bang a guy already and if you're straight get in a 3 some with those 2 cute friends Hayden has.

Overall, I'd watch if there's nothing better for you to do (like you don't have Netflix or can't watch YouTube or porn). You get to see a couple of nerds abused throughout, and you get people that are afraid of vagina so you might feel a little better about yourself after finishing the film.

5/10 because it was different, Beth Cooper's a quasi psycho offspring of headbangers and you taste her parents influence on her life throughout with the soundtrack, although the music doesn't really fit but none of the characters have depth or anything so whatever. It's a mediocre movie. Love is far from it. Salinger deserves love far more than that character/novel.

Post Grad is on after and I haven't changed the channel yet. This chick wants to work at a publisher's office and she says she couldn't get enough of Holden Caufield when she was 13. Does anyone really love him or that book that way? May just be best in a different thread but I love reading Holden and his insight but he's annoying and petulant.

Don't think Holden was a likable character. I don't think he was supposed to be. Just seems like an angry, annoying, semi emo kid. I think a lot of kids go through that phase. I've spoken and thought like him.

You can twist some things around and that book works for every generation

Instead of phony, kids would say "full of ****". Or hypocrite. Or there would be 100s of times the word hater is used.

Catcher sucks if you had it hyped up so much and know it was banned and are expected it to be raunchy. But when I go back and read passages it's better than I remembered.

^ will be seeing that. I see every JT movie and Affleck is one of four people from Boston that I like.

I'd like Runner Runner a lot more if someone other than Justin Timberlake was the lead. Certain movies he tends to just bog down with his mediocre acting. The premise and Ben Affleck playing a crazy sociopathic villain will most likely be wasted cuz of dude.

Finally finished Cloud Atlas, thought it was pretty good. I didn't think all of the stories were necessary. Tom Hanks did a poor job with some of his characters. Makeup and special effects were appreciated.

About to watch Identity Thief, I'm a huge Bateman fan but this fat cornball in it is terrible so low expectations.

Cloud atlas and another movie back to back? I don't have the patience. At least it's a comedy.

I finally watched the first new star trek movie. I didn't go into it with high expectations because I've never seen the show, but I think it was a near perfect blockbuster sci if movie. That's how you appease everyone. If this guy is taking over for star wars.... Behind Kathleen Kennedy? Yeah CP should be a very happy man. I loved the story. The effects were awesome. A few epic fight scenes. Well acted. Even the thro away corny lines worked. Not sure if there were enough Easter eggs for the fanboys since I'm not familiar with the references. Besides the obvious ones.

Nah son. Cloud Atlas took all damn day. I watched a 1/3 in the morning, 1/3 after some errands and a nap. The final 1/3 after my dinner  It was a long movie and because it had so many stories, it was easy to get distracted.

Identity Thief was HORRIBLE. Even worse than I imagined. Another Hangover 3 type movie, couldn't even tell it was a comedy.

Glad you liked Trek, you should get to the sequel if you can, it raises the stakes ten fold.

After seeing that, I REALLY got excited about Star Wars. He has done a tremendous job with the two Treks.

Runner Runner looks good, I'll def be seein that.

Maaaan The Hangover 3 was garbage :smh:

The first one was a classic but the last 2 movies have been a mess.

Watched Friday for the first time.

Chris Tucker :pimp: Literally and symbolically. Just the perfect movie for his comedic contributions as well as his acting. Can't go in-depth with any underlying themes because, well.. there weren't any, and that's how it should be. Just about two friends chillin on a Friday.

Ice Cube "I look high?" *touches his shirt repeatedly "Do I still look high?"
Chris Tucker "you need to go get a job wit yo broke ***" "DAYUM."

Literally feel like his character in Jackie Brown was based on this dude. Bomont if you guys know who I'm referring to. Literally the same act... "You catch a ***** off-guard with this ****" Couldn't you picture Smokey saying that and ******g up getting himself imprisoned just like Bomont?... QT?

Solid comedy/stoner movie that still holds up. 8)

Beaumont is one of my favorite characters in the Tarantino universe. His dialogue was great in JB and I love that trunk scene and that little pause in the alley they had.

Yes, Beaumont is one of my favorite characters in all of QT's films as well... that scene between he and SLJ is amazing.

Been watching the last half of Waiting forgot how solid this movie was. Back when Ryan Reynolds was fun and tolerable. Dane Cook's character is great in this.
