Hands down the most entertaining movie of the year.

Movie was a pile of ****.

Plot was painful, movie was extremely dry, too many forced jokes that weren't funny and my favorite, it was a straight up copy of other crime/mob films. Felt like I was watching a kid shoot a movie after watching a couple Scorcese films. I like Russell too but this was a disaster. Like someone else said, I was happy as hell that it didn't win any awards

First Jackie Robinson & how James Brown. Chadwick Boseman becoming the go to actor for biopics... Not sure how I feel about this. James Brown is an icon... I hope they don't mess this up... He's one of the very few truly trans-formative musically pioneers of the last century. He totally changed the musical landscape once he came on the scene & also was an astute businessman/entrepreneur.

^^^If the movie can convey what you said to generations that aren't familiar with James, then the movie will have done its job. But you're right - no guarantees. That said musician biopics produced recently have turned out pretty good - Ray, Walk the Line, etc

The first part is a paraphrasing of a line from Pulp Fiction. The second part is a reference to the fact that, until about a year ago, this thread was in the Sports and Training forum and not General. It used to be called "Favorite Sports Movies/TV Shows" or something like that, but we had to change the title when it got moved to General. The OP came up with the new name it based on multiple suggestions from several thread regulars. He's been asked to change it numerous times and declined, which I support.

I'm about to check out Out of the Furnace, Blue Jasmine, or Afflicated any suggestions which one to watch?

Out of the Furnace is pure drama

Blue Jasmine is a classic Woody Allen film

Never seen Afflicted.

Watch all three...there's always time.

Boseman working pimp.gif

Hope they also go into the fact that he was a drug addict and abused his women, instead of just romanticizing his greatness

My man Chadwick definitely ain't dancing like Brown laugh.gif

But who can?

Wouldn't waste your time. Lackluster to say the least IMO.

I wouldn't say its as good as the first, but I enjoyed it. It's entertaining and has some good laughs.

The first is probably my favorite Pixar movie.. it's not as good, but it's still a solid movie.

I've gone back and forth on this a few times, but I currently think The Incredibles is the best Pixar movie, followed immediately by Wall-E. My next favorite after those two is actually Ratatouille. They're all good - even the Cars films - but it's been a while since Pixar did anything as ground breaking as the 3 I mentioned.

You need better than a Ray Jamie Foxx performance to accurately portray James Brown. It's not just taxing musically but physically or at least it should be if you want the best portrayal.

Got to go with

Ratatouille

The Incredibles

A Bug's Life

My favorite Pixar is probably Wall-E followed by Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 3.

The first 5 minutes of Up >>>> though. If only the rest of the movie coulda matched what they did there

The ending of Monster's Inc is probably my favorite embarassed.gif
