Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

venom, just saw your Only God Forgives post from your site, and it says theater and VOD release July 19th. I would assume that stands for Video on Demand correct? What outlets does that consist of?

I saw a longer trailer/teaser/commercial for that on HBO and was like how is this not a movie? How'd they get Woody and Matthew to do a series like that? Only HBO :smokin
TV is what's up these days man. Many of the TV shows that are popular today are better than 90% of movies that come out.

It was only a matter of time until big name actors started stepping aboard.

Just finished the Godfather trilogy last night.

Is it... ummmm... like... are people allowed... to... like II over the original? :nerd:

II > original > III

III was... I don't want to say garbage... but... more like... 'really misplaced'. I know it was filmed like 15 years after the first two, but it really felt too different.

The ending, though. :frown: The Godfather begins w/ the original Don celebrating his daughter's wedding... story ends w/ the II & III Don watching his daughter die. :\

Part II is one of the rare instances where it's acceptable to say it's better than the original.

i never thought it was as good. number 1 is perfection.

Agreed. That's why there are video versions out there that basically combine the films and put everything in chronological order. They're so equally good that you can treat them as one film.

Part I is a masterpiece and arguably the greatest movie ever made.

Part II might be more people's favorite.

I've always liked part I better than part II.. The presence of Brando is the difference to me (and De Niro is my fav actor ever too)

there are several Kubrick movies I like better and watch more, but it's all around perfection. probably the best movie ever made. Movies are too subjective to not use words like arguable and probably.

one flew over the ****oo's nest is also perfection and sometimes gets overlooked.

Watched the first episode of Sherlock today :pimp:

Cumberbatch telling Anderson that he lowers the entire IQ of the room significantly.
Him deducting in the cab with Watson. :wow:

Real intriguing show... didn't feel like it was 90 minutes (when it was)... maybe a hour at most.

yeah i was joking but its damn near perfect like you said
I like part two better.
Crap.

Was just kidding earlier, guys.

Original is superior.

Yo I can never watch TDKR again

 @ dragging an atom bomb on the street, bumping it against buildings, and street lights. Plus I'll never be able to stomach that voice.

On another note, what's up with Morgan Freeman's left hand? I been noticing something up with him favoring it, hiding it, the glove, etc. for a while now.

add to that, the worst on-screen death in the history of on-screen dying

I noticed that too  So many actors that could've done better. C'mon Marion. Nudging your head to the left is not an indication of death.

I ignored a lot for the first half but the last was all too cringe worthy. Seeing that gets me thinking all that talk about superhero movie bubble bursting like it did before is possible of happening again.

I never thought it was that egregious. Wasn't like the entire series had brilliant acting moments and that one took me out of the movie. It wasn't a great death, but I didn't think it was bad.

Yo, so the Tree of Life, do I need to be on something to watch it? Will anybody ever talk? or is this some type of metaphorical journey of life on Earth and I'll need to watch it again in a different mood and a completely different approach than I usually have when I watch a movie?

I read the synopsis, saw Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, and Jessica Chastain and thought cool I'll give it a shot but then when all I'm seeing is bacteria split apart, single cell organisms and amoebas for 15 minutes I click info again to see sci-fi is one of the genres this movie is labeled as.
