Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I don't get the *sigh* it's obviously a spin off CP.

And seeing as how Coogler came up with the Fruitvale screen play and put together such an amazing film with a 900,000 dollar budget id say he's earned some faith in his film making. The article says the film is completely Cooglers idea which he pitched to Stallone, so this isn't the studios and Sly trying to milk Rocky for more money...it's Coogler concept and I think the guy has proven he can film the hell out of something he's passionate about.

MBJ just seems too perfect for that role.
Vince Howard is back :pimp:

It'll probably suck, but that's a pretty good look for him. I just hope he doesn't start getting cast as a black action star. I want to see him in films that aren't terrible.

So excited to see Fruitvale Friday.

Fruitvale Station Star Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler set to make Rocky VII, essentially a spin-off of Rocky, where Jordan plays Apollo Creed's Grandson and Stallone comes back as Rocky to train him - http://afterthecut.com/2013/07/24/michael-b-jordan-to-star-in-rocky-spin-off-creed/

Who had this million dollar idea while doing blow in the bathroom of a club. The movie industry is hilarious

Wait some of u are applauding this? lol damn y'all easy to please

^i feel the same Kev. I just wanna see him successful. But in a good way. Don't wanna see him become a corny star who only takes roles for money.

But at this stage in this career, this seems like a massive great look for him.

I got faith in Coogler and him.

And as much as people hate on the latest Rockys... rocky balboa wasn't that bad. It really made up for that embarrassing Rocky 5. Pretty entertaining IMO.

I been tellin my friends about this kid blowing up since I seem his acting on FNL. I know MrO and a few others pointed him out early on NT as well.

Really excited for Fruitvale on Friday and really excited his careers taking off.

idc what yall say, but that creed joint sounds like it'd be cool. :smokin

I agree.
People act like every movie idea has to be an autobiography or something super realistic.

I'm sorry but didn't you guys enjoy Dark Knight and Iron man...didn't most people all love Fast and Furious 5 and 6? Since when are these films successful due to realism?

It's entertainment sheesh.
Obviously the time gap is a little suspect for Apollos grandson, and obviously it seems like a stretch but at the same time who cares? It sounds like an entertaining premise with a very charismatic and passionate young actor, along with producers who made the original Rocky the hit it became world wide.

I'm not judging it and saying it'll be a 95% on RT and win oscars...but at the same time why rush and judge that it'll suck? Sounds like a cool entertaining concept that would be fun to watch.

Here is some footage from Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity starring Sandra Bullock & George Clooney.

No disrespect to Bullock...but it's a shame they couldn't get Angelina like they originally wrote the script for. Then they tried to get Portman but I believe she was pregnant and had time conflicts with other movies.

Im still excited for the flick, but I can't help but to think how much more exciting it would be if they had gotten Portman or Jolie.

I believe Downey Jr. Was originally supposed to have Clooneys role as well.

I'm not trashing it yet, but in no way am I excited to see another boxing film. It's all been done.

LTB mentioned the Fast series, well they are building more and more. Vault thru city streets, Tanks, pulling a plane down, the ramp lookin car. New boundaries, new limits to smash.

Rocky 1-6 already shown all the boxing stuff you can do on film. But I guess we'll see.

I feel you.

I personally wanna see MBJ do more drama's. hopefully this will open up bigger doors.

Speaking of Boxing tho, Id give 200 dollars to see you and your boy Doo go at it in a ring

if he dies, he dies

mozgov shrug

watched the HBO phil spector movie. I really, really liked it. Hellen Miran was great throughout. Pacino found his way after the first 3rd.

i consider myself rather informed when it comes to the news and politics so i'm not grasping why I have no recollection of that trial. like at all. I was around 9 and i remember OJ. strange.

I don't see how you can say you're tired of boxing films when you watch new FF films every year  It's not like Rocky doesn't tackle new obstacles. With FF, you're still retreading on ground that's already been covered, just with different vehicles.

It's not like there's a ton of fictional boxing films.

I'm content hearing about this because its not Rocky fighting someone. It's new. I know you can say its like Rocky V, but that was so lackluster.

Connecting back to Creed is dope. He's so pivotal in the series.
