Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I honestly hate most traditional Christmas movies. I enjoy comedies or action movies with the holiday backdrop but I can't get with the cheesy ones :shrugs:

I'm absolutely seeing American Hustle now. My favorite Led Zeppelin song is in the trailer (Good Times/Bad Times). I'm sold.

I think David Blaine has a TV special coming up. Some clips where he's surprising stars just hit "the internets". The one below has Harrison Ford. Some others are provided in spoiler mode.

Apparently, there's a Bettlejuice sequel in the works, with Tim Burton, Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder all signed on.

I like -- don't love -- the original, so it could be interesting.

Don't think this is a good idea.. When and what was Burton's last good movie?
seems like one of those terrible ideas that somehow works. all 3 are kinda washed up at this point.

with the David Blaine videos posted the one with Kanye, when the Ice pick was in Blaine's hand that other actor who I forget his name said "I just lost my erection completely" I was rolling

Harrison Ford's reaction was creepy and weird. He was trying to be funny I think but it wasn't.

I'm trying to watch Drinking Buddies but this movie is a little too dull for me.

I'm ashamed to say that I've seen 3 out of the 4 movies that are squarely in the shirtless category. I blame it on being married.

I just saw a trailer for a new Hobbit movie coming out in Dec.

Didn't the first one come out last year?

What are some must-haves for a new bluray collection?

I finally purchased a ps3 again last month, so I'm looking to purchase some blurays.

I'm primarily an action/adventure fan.

So far, I have Nolan's batmans and Shawshank Redemption.

My next blurays will most likely be Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Here are a few I recommend -

Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill I & II
Up
Wall E
The Incredibles
Alien
Aliens
Band Of Brothers
Saving Private Ryan
The original Star Wars Trilogy
Braveheart
Gladiator
The Town
Snatch
Rock N Rolla
Black Hawk Down
Blade Runner
Inception
Life Of Pi
Fight Club
The Matrix

That's what I can think of off the top of my head...

Pretty much any recent blockbuster looks amazing on Blu-ray.

Specifically, Skyfall, Pacific Rim, and Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Lord of the Rings also looks goddamn amazing, if you're into them.

Transformers for the sound.

The Marvel movies, Avengers, Iron Man, etc.

Nolan movies.

Matrix, Star Wars.

Social Network for the soundtrack.

Mission Impossible movies, and definitely the Fast and Furious films.

LOTR

The Harry Potter films, at least starting with Prisoner of Azkaban, if you're a fan of the series.

I don't have it, but I believe someone on here said that Tron-Legacy looks really amazing on Blu-ray too.

Ahh damn I forgot how good Social Network looked on blu ray & it as a solid flick.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo also.

I liked Skyfall & Casino Royale on blu ray too. The older Bond flicks don't translate well on blu ray so you could probably keep the dvds you might have. I bought my favorite Bond flicks on blu ray & the image quality wasn't worth purchasing them. Glad I got them on sale.

Agree with both of the Mission Impossible 3 & Ghost Protocol. Also like the Matt Damon Bourne movies.

The Departed is another...

The problem is a lot of the older movies don't translate to blu ray that well so it's not worth buying so keep that in mind. There are exceptions like God Father I & II which Coppola worked to restore. So unless it was restored, older movies aren't worth getting on blu ray IMO.

Side note - the white edges for the NT ads on the side are really effing me up for some reason... :rolleyes :smh:
