Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

One of the movies I recommend with River Phoenix is I Love You To Death. Great comedy loosely based on a real story about a wife who catches her husband cheating. She & her mother then hatch a plan to kill him. Great cast too. Excuse the cheesy early 90s trailer...

Wife I watched watched Enough Said with James Gandolfini & Julia Louis Dreyfus. Very solid rom-com type of movie. Gandolfini & Dreyfus were very good in their roles. We chuckled quite a bit. RIP Jimmy....

I just watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape for the first time since i was a kid and they played it on tv every saturday it seemed. Mind blown leo plays the mentally challenged kid

Watched "Rebel Without a Cause" a while ago and "East of Eden" last night. James Dean was not a good actor at all. He was just super handsome.
I thought the same after watching Rebel Without a Cause too, the movie just wasn't good at all to me

Rebel was meh, but you have to remember it was a teeny hooper flick. I thought East Of Eden was ok. Nice take on a Biblical-Genesis-Cain & Abel story. Giant was a good flick of Dean's. You also gotta remember, Dean's persona cast the mold of pretty much every actor that came after him, that matinee idol type... His steelo was way ahead of his time. Dean & Steve McQueen, although I'd rate McQueen way higher. McQueen's a boss IMO...

Lol pretty crazy when explained like that

Just finished both volumes of Kill Bill again, just had to come in and say Tarantino is a genius.

His writing/creative direction/casting/music is just so nuanced, truly an auteur

Just watched Senna

F'n amazing

The end had me in dem feels
Agreed.

Not sure if I mentioned it, but I finally saw Gone With the Wind for the first time. Hard for me to judge older movies and the ending kinda fell apart, IMO, but I actually enjoyed the majority of the film.

Also saw Killer Joe. I went into it cold and was very impressed. I was shocked at seeing Juno Temple nude though, I thought she was like 16. lol Anyways, McConaughey's run of good movies, beginning with The Lincoln Lawyer is staggering. May buckle down and watch The Paperboy and Bernie, just to watch his performances.

Sup guys :nerd: Decided to check out the old Robocop for the first time since it was on, and the movie's better than I'd have ever imagined it  Solid story, cast, commentary. Really one of the better 80s action flicks I've seen. Not sure how much I want to see the new one, but might catch it when it comes out outside of theaters.

Also been taking a Classic Movies class this term and I'm finally seeing these classics I've been wanting to watch. Just saw The Seventh Seal this past week. Man, that movie confused the hell out of me for the first 30 minutes or so, but after that everything started coming together. What a depressing, yet oddly funny film. Wasn't expecting it to be so witty. It was probably the most enjoyable film for me that we've watched thus far; more so than even Citizen Kane. There's a lot more I could say, but it's late.

You need to check in more Nos.

Wife been sick this weekend, just layin around keepin an eye on her I got thru Insidious 2, Escape Plan, Enough Said, and Her.

2 and Plan, meh. Decent, nothin special.

Really liked nuff said. Miss Gandolphini. (sp). JLD was great as always.

Her........man, loved it. I have no idea how, or why, but my favorite Scarlett movie, and I love Scarlett. But somehow, her voice was enough in this movie.

Who else could have played Phoenix's role and not seemed "that" weird? And don't get me wrong, all he needed was an 80's van with no windows and his profile woulda been perfect.

Loved the idea of it all, the stages of their relationship, him finding out she had 600+ others, her complaints about sex stopping, everything. His friends talking to her like she was just on the phone in another city or something, it was perfect.

Very impressed.

saw american hustle. movie was average. not really something i would watch again. the acting was good. didnt grab my attention.

I'm going to stop watching movie trailers for movies I'd like to assume are going to be good.

Anyone do this?

If so, how's that working out for you?

Mainly I'm doing it so I can see a movie without knowing too much about it.

I watch Before Sunrise like that and I enjoyed the film.

i like watching trailers to know what the movie looks like and whats it about. i might try that though just to experience it.

Honestly don't mind watching trailers of reading plot summaries, as long as the movie is still great, doesn't really jade me knowing certain things going in.
