Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Eddie Murphy as Buddy Love making fun of Dave Chappellle as Reggie in the Nutty Professor will always be funny

:nerd: Hey guys. Seen anything good lately?
Hey man update all those threads you started  You've missed entire seasons

Wait, Creed from the Office actually changed his name to Creed!?

Nope, his character is based on a fictionalized version of himself.

He's really Creed Bratton
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creed_Bratton
Well yeah that's what I meant as far as him being Creed first  Didn't know he based the character off himself though. He did change his name though.

Her........man, loved it. I have no idea how, or why, but my favorite Scarlett movie, and I love Scarlett. But somehow, her voice was enough in this movie.

Who else could have played Phoenix's role and not seemed "that" weird? And don't get me wrong, all he needed was an 80's van with no windows and his profile woulda been perfect.

Loved the idea of it all, the stages of their relationship, him finding out she had 600+ others, her complaints about sex stopping, everything. His friends talking to her like she was just on the phone in another city or something, it was perfect.

Very impressed.

I still need to see that. I'm behind on a lot of last year's stuff.

 @ dudes bored with Breaking Bad aka GOAT

I think it's kinda fair. BB is the most methodical great show I've seen, outside of like In Treatment. Just know that the slow moments are gonna get rewarded with straight, unpredictable, unforgettable hype.

Cobie Smolders is looking beautiful on Letterman right now  :pimp:

Cobie getting fulltime role on SHIELD would be enough for me to watch it again.

I literally couldn't get through the first 5 minutes of True Detective. I don't know what it was...just...the shots, the writing, the pacing, the framework...everything threw me off and twisted all the hype I had into this bland The Killing level expected disappointment. So I just sat on it and waited...then Big J's blue eyed girl brought the tig olsout...but even then I still waited...til finally the internet lost it's mind last week.

Watched the first couple, and it was just like I expected...ehh...everything looks and sounds interesting, but who cares? Caught the next 2 and Sunday night's...just wow.

The 4th episode had the moment you call your boys and tell them, it's time to catch up. The 5th has me ready to stick this in the pantheon early. At the least, it made me need to watch the first 5 over again before Sunday night.

Question is -- is this an actual comeback or another one of those post once or twice and disappear things?

I'm like OCD where if I know something's good I gotta be a completist. So like I see 2000 unread...I'm like iight, I'll get back in here when I find time to catch up......uh.....:nerd:  ....so I'll just settle for the last few pages for once.

I never seen Robocop either.

Nvm, I'm out.

Nvm, I'm out.

This forum ain't the same without you man, and damn sure this thread was built on a lot of your work.

Hope you back in the fold again, in some capacity at least. You know we have a big year comin up next year in terms of movies, and this year may not be too bad either.

Aye, Wolf of Wall Street, what ya got?

Rewatched Fast Six yet? |I

Man of Steel? :nerd:

Stop laughing about Batfleck.

You weren't hear for the final episodes of Breaking, how on Earth could you be gone during that final run? That's like the Knicks on their way to sweeping the Finals and you on vacation somewhere. :smh:

Good to see you back, Blood Type :nthat:
Son...mighta hit the NYK thread by now had I been given 1 gotdamn reason in hell, all season. :smh: |I

It was great. :nerd:  That was one of those I coulda typed a mountain after I watched it, went to NT, saw the unread count, and said when I get a chance to read all this....

I watched the runway scene again, that was awesome. But Fast Five was so much tighter, clearer and moment to moment better than Fast Six. Like you could cut the bank safe chase out of Fast Five and that's still a great popcorn flick. If it wasn't for runway scene, Six woulda been a letdown to me.

Man of Steel? :nerd:
This one too. They woudln'ta liked me in the MoS thread not one damn bit.

Stop laughing about Batfleck.
 Why would you make me this mad, in 1 post, already?

See that was like...FINALLY after trying to get people onto BB ever since the broken plate episode, netflix got people on, so people were havin BB parties every week lol. Ozymandias... :smh: :smokin

...NT saves drafts of posts now? :smokin

So annoyed of people that complain about shows like Breaking Bad and True Detective being too slow. I know people who are skimming episodes and reading synopsis just so they can hurry up and get to the "good parts". People don't even realize that the character development and serialized storytelling are what makes these shows so good. If they want instant gratification then they should just stick to the CSIs and ER type ****. Dont deserve any better :smh: /rant

that for me? :nerd: >D

No, the immediate feel I got from True Detective was that the show was just gonna check off all the "serious (serial) killer" show boxes, take itself and it's convoluted (but at its heart simple) story and characters too seriously, and be a letdown by the end of it. So I did the same thing I do whenever I feel like I can't trust a show won't insult my investment of time and waited if and when it hit a fever pitch online.

And what ******* reads spoilers of a show they don't watch? That's the lamest hustle I've heard of. No, it's as simple as noticing the headlines, when suddenly a wave of them pop up everywhere saying: "Guys....******* True Detective last night!!!!!" But what did it for me was when I noticed people getting into a mythology of the show. Any show can have a shot a great tig ols. Any show can have a shoot out. Having something worth thinking about is what got me.

It's like when I bailed on Dexter after the pretty good season 5, because all the writing on the wall said the show was gonna go to hell. And it did. Or Sons of Anarchy season 3, when every bit of it screamed, "let go of that great show you thought this could be."

Something about that familiar, but blander Hannibal imagery threw me off of TD immediately. I wasn't exactly waiting until I heard something exciting happened. I was waiting until I heard it wasn't the by the numbers story I thought it was gonna be. And...I'm pretty sure I didn't skim through that 5 episode mountain.

It came out in 87, so it's not that surprising.
And when did Terminator, Rocky, and Rambo come out?

Robocop isn't as iconic to the 80s as Terminator or Predator, but it isn't niche either.
I'd assume that said people haven't seen those movies either.

The only series that I've seen that you just listed would be Terminator.

All I'm saying is that it's not surprising that said young people haven't see it, given how long ago it came out.

Yeah, I remember all the times you lost stuff you typed before, that save feature def got your name on it.

MOS thread was mostly anti folks, everybody *****ed about that film like crazy, but I was the complete opposite, I loved that film. The best Superman story told on screen by far. At some point, you need to get around to breaking down why you didn't vibe with it.

Ozymandias.......bruh. I watched that entire ep on my feet, bouncin like I was in the livin room with Ali, I was straight yellin at my tv, begging for mercy when they were whalin away at me with big moment after big moment, and as the final credits rolled, literally, ep just ended, my wife and daughter comin runnin down stairs about a fire, fire, fire, and open the front door. Sure enough, there's a fire about 4 houses down the road, so I grab my shoes and run out to help (could be kids in there or whatever) and as I start runnin down the street, all I could think in my head ...."only two episodes left, you can't die yet, you can't die yet....."
Breaking Bad made me a better person, and a worse person all at the same damn time.

Iono, I was hype on Fast 6, i head ya on cleaner, better set Fast Five, I do hear that, but the Lety part just had me. Plus it shoved Mia off to the side, and let them get down to business. Seein Han and Roman fight dude together, the girls brawlin, the initial car chase with the Mercedes, Brian goin back to the prison to get at bad dude from 4.....there was a lot to like for me. And the ending, Statham.....I mean :wow: That was that. That was our moment, Fast was about to take over. And then.....yeah. Now, 7 just gonna have me there slumped, tears all on my pillows & ****. :smh: RIP PW

How about Gal Gadot gettin Wonder Woman for Batfleck? :nerd: You know you at least a little ready for this. They even bumped it back to make sure it's done all the way right. Come on now.

I'ma need that write up on Wolf. Nothin too crazy, 5-6,000 words or so, double spaced, you can do that in your sleep.
Leo tho, knocked that ***** out the park. That was his Liotta Goodfellas with less guns but somehow more drugs.

Let's go back...4th of July last year. Tell any sane human being that one of the chicks from Fast Six was gonna be Wonder Woman. One of the dudes from Zombieland was gonna be Lex Luthor. And one of the guys from The Town was gonna be Batman.

Give them 2 guesses, and they'd still probably bust on all 3. There's unpredictable...quirky...or left field. And then there's "go **** yourself." MOS2 is pretty firmly in "go **** yourself," as far as I'm concerned.

Wolf...mannnnnn...I'll say this much. I'm so happy, that on Xmas, the people I was with decided, better to see upbeat American Hustle than controversial Wolf. Because had I seen Wolf first, I might've hated Hustle. Wolf is the best new thing since Django to me. And Wolf ***** on Hustle so completely, that it makes it just an irrelevant wannabe with 20 minutes of funny scattered in the 2nd half. But at least, seeing Hustle first let me enjoy both. I just don't get how it's an Oscar contender when The Fighter AND Silver Linings were better than it.

And all of this is awesome:

You and I both know it all falls on Ben. If he continues the run he's been on, we're fine. If he Gigli's, we're screwed. Gadot can handle her job, we both know that, we seen it. And chances are for this movie, it's small still anyways. She could be on screen less than Morpheus was in MOS.

Now Social Network, we know he can act, we know he handle that part of the equation, we just don't know how he'll LOOK.

BTW, you look hype for GotG......have you taken a good look at that cast? :nerd: Don't throw shade at MOS2.

Glad you were patient with True Detective mronegative mronegative , now you need to tell me why these dudes are always reading way too much in to these shows  :smh:
