Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I honestly think a lot of you missed the boat on Gravity completely. Getting mad at scenes like the barking scene? That's arguably the most important scene in the film!!!

Gravity was a terrible movie. Overrated pile of ****. Some amazing shots and special effects but Bullock was a drag for 88 minutes :x

I'm not gonna like it because prestigious awards shows say I should

Was her acting not believable or were you annoyed with actions in the film?

I noticed that people that don't like the movie has something against Sandra Bullock.

Both. I thought she didn't do a good job and was the wrong person to have a solo for an entire movie. She had a few quotes in the movie that I couldn't stop laughing at because it was so bad. The movie was boring. The story was uninteresting and the fact that it was basically in one place the whole time was painful.

I have no opinion on the film (didn't see it)

But in general just because someone doesn't like something doesn't mean they didn't understand it

^ Agreed. I thought it was pretty clear and simple what was going on. I would love for Venom or anyone else that loved this film explain what was missed by some of us.

I liked Gravity a lot. I think the problem people have at least in this thread is that they don't like George Clooney to begin with. I've seen enough negative comments in this thread about him so his banter in the film probably already bothered you even before you see him on screen. Same thing with Sandra Bullock. She doesn't seem to get a lot of love in this thread. It seems like people think she didn't deserve to win an Oscar for Blind Side which was kind of a banal movie. So there are 2 big strikes there.

The other biggest problem I see people have is the script/story. For whatever reason people didn't like it. I get the impression people were expecting some huge existential question(s) to be posed & then answered so that one could have a Wee-Bey "Ohhhhhhh" moment. Maybe you guys wanted a bigger pay off or something. It also seems people had a notion of wanting this to be a certain kind of sci-fi movie that didn't deliver.

I like the movie for what it was. It was visually stunning, I happened to like the script/story & I thought Bullock & Clooney did great. I also find it amazing that a near 49 year old woman could carry a movie like this which quite frankly is kind of unheard of.

Aside from his Harry Potter movie which I didn't see (because I think the movies are boring), I've liked everything Alfonso Cuaron has done so maybe that explains why I loved the flick. :rolleyes If you don't like the flick, that's cool. Shoot, I didn't think Wolf Of Wall St. was anything remotely close to what was written in this thread (which I've already posted about). You guys made it out to be a master piece.

To each his/her own. Cheers. :D

I haven't watched any Girls this season, despite having watched the first two seasons as it aired.. so I'm super behind.

I'm also behind on True Detective.. and I absolutely have to catch up.

The first Potter movie was one of the few movies my wife & I stopped midway through. Just found it incredibly boring. I tried watching it again along with some of the later movies by introducing them to my son & he didn't like them either. Just wasn't our cup of tea I guess. I also never read the books & that might have a little to do with me not liking the flicks. :rolleyes

Yo, has anyone been watching Broad City on Comedy Central.  I think it's hilarious

It is hilarious. Those girls are wild lol. A much funnier 2 broke girls. Except the eye candy isn't on the same level as 2 broke girls

Yea the Broad City chicks are mad average looking. Like, if you took the two of them and created one single broad that would be a bad broad, but individually they are not much. I'd really love to see Illana's ******* in person, though.

I will say they seem like they're EXTREMELY cool. Like the majority of the show is them smoking weed and cracking jokes all over NYC and you can rock with it cause it's very natural and they reference alot of **** we talk about on NT. They're basically like if you took Workaholics and made it about chicks in New York.

Looks like F&F will resume shooting with in April with a new script, a new release date (4/10/15), and a new plan for working around Paul Walker‘s passing. There is apprx 6-8 weeks of filming needed. It's going to be sad watching the movie when it comes out.. :frown:

Is that Maeby from Arrested Development?

Am I the only one who wasn't ":wow: :wow: :pimp: " at the Godzilla trailer?

I'm down to see it still.

Same here. It looks good enough, and it ain't even that I needed to see the monster.

It's just most of the shots (outside of the plane jump) and the direction of it felt only okay.

I just finished the first episode. Looks a lot like her, anyway about the check out the rest. Funny show

I...vaguely remember hearing that Gus Van Sant did a shot for shot remake of Psycho once.

Well...Steven Soderbergh decided to...I guess mashup the original with the Van Sant. He spliced em together and used layering and shading and a lot of other smart sounding technical things. He called it Pyschos and it's right here for free. So that's a thing.

Personally...what's the Bateses without Vera Farmiga? :nerd:

And the feeling I got finding out that the remake starred Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche... :smh:
