Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I would never watch it again, but it's worth one, because look at the names.
Yeah, it was one of those Oscar movies I knew I had to watch before the show or else it probably won't happen. Once I finish getting through last year stuff, I gotta go on a PSH run.

Viola Davis stole the show with one scene.
This made her. I'm used to seeing a black actor or actress kill it in a part, and unless they're Will/Denzel/Morgan, then you never really see them again. Or they pop up once in a long while in some no budget trash or bigger budget trash. At least, up until the last few years when the trend kinda ended.

That scene...when she was across from Boobie Miles in Antwone Fisher ... :smh: She didn't even have to say a word.

I'm just happy she didn't fall through the cracks. Derek Luke did. :smh:

When it comes to movies I won't watch again, they're just that. If it's good enough or I'm interested enough I'll watch him. I don't really give a **** about the Oscars to make sure I watch before that deadline. I've seen it a bunch of times in the past where a movie I didn't watch won an award. I don't need to see all of the noms.

I don't even think son is in S2 of The Americans :smh: :rolleyes

Just finished drinking buddies, enjoyed it.. But it still left a lot to be desired.. Felt like everyone had good chemistry, but the private convos still felt and seemed very empty.. And a lot was unresolved in the end

Jack reacher was entertaining, had low expectations for it..

And blackfish, man.. I feel bad for even owning dogs

And to the convo above.. Shame is a powerful movie.. Fassbender is that dude, the feelings he was able to portray just by simple looks

Brosnan is my favorite Bond. And Goldeneye remains my favorite Bond movie with Craig's Casino Royale close second

Stunned at all the love Shame is getting on the last few pages. Movie was too much for me to watch. Big fan of Fassbender and Carey but I couldn't :x

Yeah, if you're not mature or secure enough to watch the entire thing you probably won't get it or be able to enjoy it.

Sean Connery is 1A & Daniel Craig is 1B. There are no other Bonds.

Brosnan is a great Thomas Crown.... :D

I haven't seen homeboy from Attack the Block in anything since, and you guys drop his name for two upcoming movies in the same day.

Knocked out another Philip Seymour Hoffman project last night. Doubt.

In a film starring he, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams (who were all wonderful - no ****, right?), Viola Davis stole the show with one scene.

Pretty straightforward flick. Totally dialogue-driven, but it even moved along faster than its reasonable 104-minute runtime. Full of nuanced performances.

I would never watch it again, but it's worth one, because look at the names.

Wow, I loved this movie, one of my favorites of the last few years

Man...I hate armchair critics. First thing they go to 'it must have went over your head.' For real? Tell me about string theory. Write me a legal brief. Maybe tell me about the Carthaginians...nah it's not that I'm not smart enough, it's that I don't like it, all subjective.

I didn't not like it. It was fine. A dull script carried by elite acting.

There is just no replay value for me. Nothing that I need to understand more deeply. Nothing that propels me to watch it again.

There are three scenes spanning maybe 8-10 minutes total that I might want to YouTube someday, and all of them are strictly dialogue. Davis' scene, the meeting between Adams/Streep and Hoffman, and the deciding confrontation between Hoffman and Streep.

It's not really about whether or not they win, but more if I'm already on the fence for watching it before the show. Just...urgency. Once the show is over, it stops being 'try and watch before Oscar night,' and ends up just another probably stuffy old people movie thrown into the big pile of stuff I been meaning to watch. Like King's Speech, Amour, Lincoln, War Horse, A Serious Man...Frost/Nixon.

If I didn't watch those before their Oscar show, they'd probably still be on one my lists.

Been watching the Oscar nominated movies lately, any other recommendations?

Can't pick a favorite...call me cliche...but any scene from these Directors/Movies. I love sharp contrasting colors/ contrasting themes and ideas (i.e White girls in bikinis being arrested, Killer Barber, Bandit Fox), all of these movies were shot so well, it was like a moving picture, I felt like I was watching art in motion moreso than watching a movie.

I'm oh so mad about damn Grand Budepest Hotel...March 21 where I'm at.

^I need to get into Wes Anderson, his movies always look so dope, but i've only seen them in bits and pieces

I remember a friend in HS telling me he was an extra in Rushmore (they shot it at a School Wes attended and some other schools around the city)

and I never even watched to see if he was lying or not

There Will Be Blood...especially the fire, the church scenes and the bowling alley.
The Tree of Life...Jessica Chastain, the birth of the universe and the place at the end.
All of the Ben Kingsley parts in Hugo.
...I wanna say the spacesuit parts of Sunshine but that might just be the music.
Drive...the opening getaway, the robbery and the elevator.
The opening history of Fellowship of the Ring, Galadriel, the Ringwraiths and ring vision.
Sin City...damn near every scene.
Oh yeah...Baraka exists, and I wanna say The Shining, but only cuz of Room 237.

Im all over the place.

Action movies, you know the big popcorn flicks. But I do appreciate the well done movies, saw DBC and was floored by the acting. Saw Gravity the other day, was good though a little boring.

Green Mile is a personal favorite, but then again F&F is my favorite franchise.

Im not too picky. Actually now that I think about it, I like apocalyptic type movies. Also big monster movies (Pacific Rim I saw not too long ago, loved it.

Any kind of apocalyptic/big monster movie? Ive seen most of the more popular ones already.

I may just catch Ironman3...
