Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Man what? Is the TV version and a DVD version really going to make that much of a difference? Its the same movie in essence. This isnt one of those movies like Pulp Fiction were all the good stuff is chopped out, I'm willing to bet that everything is left the same.

Why cant I just think the movie is bad from top to bottom. Look at whats going on here, everyone is getting up in arms because I dont like this movie. That is the machine talking. Making up reasons as to why I wouldnt like it when it simply was uninteresting. Nothing more nothing less. The movie did nothing to draw me in.

That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion, but what does the "machine" have to do with anything? Why is the opinion of people who like the movies less valid than yours because you don't like them? You don't like the LOTR movies, other people do. End of story. Like, popular opinion seems to hold that Jay-Z is one of the best hip-hop artists ever. I don't see it and have never really been into his music. That's just my opinion. I don't dismiss the people that like him as just going with the majority. Popular opinions aren't automatically deserving of less respect than unpopular ones.

wants us to respect his opinion about the film, but downplays everyone else's as a result of 'the machine'.

I wasnt trying to downplay anyones opinions I'm referring to the "You cant watch it on TV and use that version as a basis ot form an opinion" comments. That is the same kind of stuff that people go to when I tell them that I hate those movies. That and the constant pressure to watch and like it that I faced is a result of the machine.

Comments like what have been made in this thread are fine. People love those movies and gave valid reasons, thats cool with me. I'm supposed to be watching Captain Phillips this weekend, should I expect much?

"You keep using this word phrase. I do not think it means what you think it means."

The early beginnings of this thread were based off you not seeing Pulp Fiction.

How'd that work out for ya?

You're welcome.

LOVE that movie, for real.

And am now a QT fan because of that whole... 'discussion' or 'intervention' or whatever. Pulp Fiction, Inglourious, Django, Kill Bill... THANK YOU, SIRS!!

Wait, you're watching Captain Phil talking about the machine?!?!

Most of the people that served under him said the way the movie depicts the guy isn't truthful & that movie doesn't even begin to explain how the Somali pirates came to be... Talk about watching a "machine approved" movie... :rolleyes

My twin is making me watch that movie, its the only way he will watch the greatness that is the Hunger Games. Gotta take one for the team sometimes.

No lie, Captain Phillips looks like such political, 'feed the sheep' garbage.

Thought the same thing about 'Incredibly Loud and'... whatever it was called.

If there was one movie that was solely hyped up by "the machine" it was American Hustle.

Subpar story, subpar movie.

Just outstanding performances.

But man..: nominated for best picture?

GT.F.OHWTBS.

Movie was SO overrated.
I was so happy it didn't win any awards.

But I did like Adams and JLa's scenes :pimp:

I used to love Tom Hanks, but there was nooooo way I was going to watch that flick & quite frankly I lost a lot of respect for Hanks for even bothering to do the film. I didn't see it but I skimmed through the script which was available online to see if it justified my concerns & sure enough no way was I going to watch it.

The old "someone is making me do it" from someone that tries to be one of NT's revolutionaries... :rolleyes

It's so funny, if you like a movie youre a sheep, if you don't like a movie youre a troll lol . Very wierd world this "interwebz" is.

Is the show The Returned only available in subtitles? I thought the one on sundance would have american language speaking

Is Notes on a Scandal a must see?
Idk about "must see" but it's definitely an entertaining movie for me.

My roommates and I watched it multiple times just because of how

Nothing extremely captivating but Worth watching if you're bored. I give it a thumbs up for entertainment factor.

I mean... LOTR, Avatar, Godfather, Hunger Games, it's some SOLID layers of storylines in all that.

The hell kind of movies you like, man? Mighty Ducks? Land Before Time? Legally Blonde? Sweet Home Alabama?

Anyone is free to dislike any movie and we can discuss it.. we've done it plenty of times in the past and it's a valuable part of the thread.

Saying "LOTR sucks.. it's awful.. people only like it because of the machine" is just trolling and we got suckered into it. And no.. you can't watch it on TV with commercial breaks and have it be the same as the theater or even a basic home theater setup. Just the same as you won't have a similar experience if you saw the movie without all the expectations after years and years of hype. Preconceived notions and expectations will affect how someone views a movie.. it's no one's fault sometimes (unless you're intentionally avoiding the movie)

And the "machine".. that's just being ridiculous. So basically anytime a movie is critically praised and commercially successful, if someone says it's good that's "the machine"? I mean, really? Just like you want to be free to dislike a movie.. people are also free to like and praise great movies without being apart of some absurd "machine".
