The best part of Scarlett Johansson getting pregnant?

I swear she could have everything :smh:

I'll raise the child as my own too, **** it

where is this from?

It's been years since I had milk, and my bones are aching right now.

So, I know someone mentioned it earlier, but man... For me, Mads Mikkelsen is Hannibal Lecter for me now.

He has SUCH a presence on the small-screen. He makes the show. If it were anyone else in his spot, I'm not sure it would work. He is magnitudes better than every other character on the show, including Fishburne and Dancy.

Anthony Hopkins was great, and Brian Cox wasn't bad either, but I can never think of the name Hannibal Lecter ever again and NOT instantly think of Mads Mikkelsen.

I'll say it again, Adam Sandler was great in Reign Over Me.

On one level it's a reflective serious and sad movie but on another it's easily the funniest Adam Sandler has ever been.

love that movie. One of the first blu rays I bought :pimp:

I think comedy doesn't get enough respect in this thread.
Watched the unrated version of Superbad last night. Still holds up, the whole **** drawing scene is probably one of the funniest things ever

Just finished Gladiator.

Last time I saw it was when it came out,

I was way too young to care or understand to significance of the dialogue or performances.

Don't want to overreact but it may be one of my favorite movies of all time.

I was that blown away by all of it.
The cinematography, the dialogue, the acting, the visuals.

Amazing movie.
Maximus :wow: :pimp:
Just simply EPIC in every way. :pimp: :pimp:

Sidenote; Joaquin Phoenix was outstanding. (Obviously Crowe's was too, thus his Oscar). I know he was nominated but how did he not win? I can't see anyone else's performance would be better for a supporting actor.

I need to watch more of Joaquin's films. After seeing Her and seeing this again this dude is clearly an elite actor.

Yeah, I got to respectfully disagree. Comedy gets plenty of love in this thread. I think the issue is more that there hasn't been a really good, new comedy in a while. So, there just hasn't been a lot to talk about recently. But we've had discussions in this thread about how comedies get shafted by the Academy, etc. and, at various times, its become an appreciation thread for movies like Scott Pilgrim v. The World and Pitch Perfect, among others.

Agree 100%. Watched it about a month ago with my brothers, pizza and wings and some beer. Laughed the whole time. My low key favorite person in the movie is Bill Hader. He's hilarious as the cop. Love when he's dancing and drinking while busing up the party at Jules' house.

Possibly true on the comedy tip, I'm still a new comer. The thread title got me lol I had been bypassing this thread for months thinking it was suppose to be an S&T thread haha.

Bill Hader is that dude. Kills everything he's in. That Roast, Mr. Hollywood great.

Just finished All The President's Men...pause...I can dig it.

Dallas Buyers Club on now. Slight hyped.

Add 40 Year Old Virgin and even Pineapple Express and you have my list.
The absence of Step Brothers is criminal.

I only watched Step Brothers once, and I remember hating it...I forgot about 40 year old virigin ..I remember loving Pineapple Express in theaters, but I watched it a few months back and didn't find it that funny...Danny Mcbride was the best part about it

Blood Type you are correct. I criminally forgot about Step Brothers. Movie is too funny man.

Pineapple Express, man, the first hour is brilliant and the last 20 minutes border on stupidity. I remember seeing it in theaters and our pre game beforehand :pimp: that opening scene with Bill Hader, I damn near died laughing. Hader is a real funny dude.

Joaquin Phoenix is my favorite actor.
You should watch The Master just to marvel at his abilities. The scene where he & Phillip Seymour Hoffman have their first "session" is the most impressive I've ever seen
Seeing him play Freddy, after u just saw him play Commudus would be :wow:

And then get ready for him as the lead in Inherent Vice :pimp: (directed by Paul Thomas Anderson)

I remember the summer of '08 and Pineapple, Tropic and Step Bros came out back to back to back in 3 weeks. I tore a rib muscle.

Yeah...all 3 had classic scenes and quotables, but Pineapple's story got in the way of the funny. And I could live with only seeing a supercut of the RDJ Kirk Lazarus scenes from Tropic, instead of watching the whole thing again.

But Step Brothers....Step Brothers.

I could watch that movie 5 times a week til the day I die. It never gets old for me. And every damn scene...every character...every line of that movie is classic to me. Not a day goes by when there ain't a need to quote Step Bros. I love that movie. I could watch it a billion times, and something new will hit me right every time.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

...

Oh, and Black Dynamite touched my soul.

Watched Dallas Buyers Club. 1st and foremost, excellent movie. It got me thinking about 2013 and the use of plot devices.

To me, a plot device is a physical object that represents the development of the character. In 2013 a lot of movies used plot devices in pretty cool ways.
Ex.
American Hustle and J.Laws nail polish. It represented her hold on him as 'something that's smells rotten but you keep smelling it' at the end she gives it to him when she no longer has the hold.

Dallas Buyers Club was a bit more clever, using multiple plot devices but with an over arching theme. When Jennifer Garner first met MM she wore a mask, representing her distance from him. Later he puts his hat on her head, shed warming up, but still not willing to put her job on the line. At the end she shares his beer, that's fairly intimate contact (also expected. MM has Aids, like he doesn't want to ruin other people's lives as evidenced by the hooker in his room), by that point she has put her job on the line for MM, coming full circle.

Also, this got me thinking about acting and the Brad Pitt MM debate. I get it now, watching DBC I didn't even learn the characters name, I felt like MM was actually going through this crazy ish.
