Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Question. My girl and I are considering a movie marathon tonight. I know this is crazy but we've never seen terminator or terminator 2 and we noticed they've been added to Netflix.

Worth investing 4 hours into? I don't want them to be those kinda movies where it's not enjoyable because we didn't see them back in the day...

Example: antidope's comments about not enjoying Star Wars or those old movies seeing them today.

Will they still be entertaining today if we've never seen them before? Just wanted to make sure we weren't wasting 4 hours of our day. :nerd:

Yes, invest the time. The CGI in the first will look like an 80s movie, but T2 was revolutionary and looks great even today. I enjoyed T2 much more, so if 1 isn't your cup of tea or doesn't do much for you, stick it out for #2.

Both are good but T2 is a classic. One of the best action movies ever

First Terminator's kinda campy in a og Halloween kinda way. It's a really 80s movie, but it's good for what it is.

Haven't seen T2 in a minute, but I'd bet that movie still looks like it came out just a few years ago, even though it's 25 years old.

That's a forever movie. You won't regret it. Only reason it might not be instant classic for you, is cuz so many movies copied it.

I also would recommend spending the time, but I actually like T1 quite a bit. Its raw and gritty, which I think is kind of cool. Its kind of like what the original Mad Max is to the Road Warrior series of movies.

Welp. T1 and T2 it is for tonight.

I knew I could rely on you guys for good opinions. Thanks fellas. Reps for all of you :pimp:

I'll report back probably tomorrow with my thoughts on them.

Watched all 5 hours of Nymphomaniac last night and was pretty impressed. So much was made of the sex scenes but the movie was about much more and covered a lot of philosophical qualms of sexuality and gender relations. Many great shots and I loved Von Triers use of colors. Stacy Martin was very good and even easier to look at, I like her a lot. Uma Thurman definitely came through with a scene stealing performance. Shia Lebouf was actually good as well, the transformation of his character was interesting. Charlotte Gainsbroug was amazing, easily the best actor in the film. Only qualms I had with the film was the story becoming a bit convoluted at the end and the ending which I saw coming a mile away.

Im really really really annoyed that I'm watching community on demand and then I see an ad for Rosemary's baby the show. There is no ******* reason for that. NONE. Jesus Christ. I remember bay was rumored to make the remake which would have shown the baby with crazy CGI and shooting missiles out of his *** so I guess this is better but ugh....

Then I sign in an see Goonies 2 being talked about lol

Caught Now You See Me (the magician master thief movie that came out last year) on HBO yesterday. Wasn't bad; good, cast, solid performances. But the story was too implausible and convoluted for me to really like it. Plus, I found Jessie Eisenberg's character annoying. On the plus side, Woody was funny and Isla Fisher is nice to look at. Bottom line: I do not recommend.
Damn I recommend the movie. Didn't see all the flaws you mention in the movie when I watched it.

I liked it alot.

Thanks for whoever posted that trailer for Metro Manila the Filipino foreign film. Halfway through and loving it. Actually think I steer myself towards more Foreign films then anything Hollywood or what Anti calls "The Machine" makes as of now

Watched The Heat earlier. For what it is, it's entertaining and funny. The chick from Mike & Molly is great in this.

Said something similar a few pages back. Proved to me that McCarthy is funny. Period. Wasn't just a case of her having a great role in Bridesmaids. The scene with her whole family was pretty funny too. "Are-you-a-naaaaaacccc?????"

I read that Paul Feig is doing a spin off of the the 2 girls Beth and Gina played by Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin

they have a really great podcast together.

It was cool seeing the dude from youtube in a decent size role as Rojas too

Terminator 2 still holds up.

Jurassic Park
is another one that they could release in theaters for the first time and not need to update any special effects. It's awesome.

Watched a couple of favorites randomly the past couple days. Out of Sight and Unbreakable

Out of Sight is really underrated. If you like Soderbergh, you'll love it. Clooney is every bit George Clooney "THE MOVIE STAR" but it works in this role. Jennifer Lopez is flawless looking and the scene in the hotel bar is incredible :pimp: Funny supporting roles with Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Steve Zahn, and it's even got Albert Brooks. I just love Soderbergh's style, but the writing is sharp and clever.. it's just a solid movie top to bottom.

Unbreakable is just ******* cool. Felt ahead of it's time considering all those "What would a superhero really be like?" movies that came out 4-5 years ago. But Willis is great, Sam Jackson is the best "THEY CALLED ME MR GLASS" The score is incredible as well. It's almost disappointing to watch the whole movie because all I want is a sequel. It's such a perfect superhero origins film.. it needs another movie.

Hell, I'd still take a sequel even though everyone is older. You could skip over the "Superhero kicks *** in his prime" movie and go right to "Is it time to hang it up?" I'd be there opening night.

I don't know why you would want a sequal considering m night shamalamilamilan has had the biggest drop, off for any director everrrrr :smh:

I do wanna see unbreakable again

Does anyone watch South Korean flims like A Bttersweet Life or Memories of Murder.
Yup. Love em. Memories might be my favorite Korean mystery film ever, more so than Oldboy and I Saw the Devil. Such an amazing film top to bottom; the ending was just so good.

There's one movie I watched a few years ago that I highly enjoyed as well, but can't remember the name of. I'll have to find it and post it in here.

Feel like I'm NT blackballed, but I'm mid way through this, never heard of it before and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Letting y'all know until y'all start suggesting bad movies I'm

MOS dialogue/origins >>> Cap 2, and I loved Cap 2.

"Look Kal, you can save her, you can save them all..."
You can be the bridge between two peoples.

Every, single, word spoken by Kevin Costner.

The anger by Supes when he finds Zod at his moms house.
