Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I really only like the movie because Hepburn is a great actress, but yeah.. I'd have to completely turn my brain off not to see a lot of what's wrong with it. The novella is pretty great, though, but it's very different from the movie.

I just watched Harsh Times with Christian Bale. This man is such a beast. He can literally play any role and kill it. The movie itself was cool but he was great.

Oh and the people who love WOWS and hate American hustle confuse me. Thought WOWS is one of the most shallow movie I've ever seen. So many missed opportunities. Rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it's me getting political but I think it's more than that

You ain't never lied bruh, Bale is definitely God level as an actor. You can see his commitment to the craft shine through whenever he is on the screen.

To be able to go from American Psycho, The Machinist, The Fighter to the Batman Trilogy and be perfect in each one is crazy.

But I mean when you're already great at 13 years old in a Spielburg film it should be expected.

I love Cecily Strong.

James Cameron did a Reddit AMA yesterday I believe. I read a lot of it and some highlights include he's working on Avatar 2,3,4 at the same time much like The Lord of the rings trilogy were. His favourite movie of last year was Gravity and favourite guilty pleasure film is the first Resident Evil. He went into detail about going into the Mariana Trench (the deepest part of our worlds ocean) in which he discovered new species along the way. a Doc will come out for that

Finally watched Lone Survivor.

When the first gunfight was happening, I just thought...oh okay...it's not bad...kinda feeling like NT overhyped this some....

Then the cliff.

And it just. never. stopped. :wow: IT NEVER ******* STOPPED. :smh:
I mean, yeah it's a pretty basic story....and the visuals ain't Black Hawk Down level...but I understand now.

Thank you!

2nd ep of Turn was a bit better. Some things continue to frustrate about the characters and acting but the latter has gotten better. So far only person that invokes strong feelings is Captain Simco(sp?), dude reminds me of The Swede and I look forward to his death but it's clear he'll be a heel for the whole season. Overall though, I can admit I've probably been spoiled by all of the brilliant, manipulative, clever, genius, saavy, charasmatic characters from other shows so this one is a bit of a let down in what they have to offer. The hook they're relying on is all story, 1st spy ring in America during the Revolutionary war and to me that can only last so long. Show needs more and better character development.. Can't get a beat on the protagonist other than they're making him out to be a protagonist other than he's the type that keeps getting dragged and thrown in to messed up situations where he's getting out by luck (a lot of this) and his wits (which he really doesn't have much of) cuz his motives seem emotionally based and as far as the actuals issues he seems apathetic as **** despite the dichotomy of what his father represents and what his friends and crush do.

Your probelm is you looked for something deep. Like I don't even understand how somebody could compare WOWS and AH. 15 min I accepted WOWS as a comedy and loved every minute of it. So I find it a strange criticism to call it shallow. Brought the lulz in every way possible. I'm not surprised though cuz unfortunately (and only in an unfair sort of way) when you hear Marty and Leo together you don't think the flick is gonna be focused on Jonah Hill's wheelhouse. Story and acting wise, it delivered.

As has been said several times in here, if yall wanted Boiler Room, go watch Boiler Room. WOWS was it's own thing.

Film was surprisingly awesome. Wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did.

The book it well worth the read as well.

50 years ago yesterday, Sidney Poitier became the first black actor to win an Oscar for a leading role in 1964 for his performance in Lilies Of The Field. There has not been an actor that displayed as much class, dignity, intelligence, & elegance as Sidney Poitier.

Believe it or not, only 2 black actors have won for the Best Actor, Jamie Foxx in 2005 for Ray & Forest Whitaker in 2007 for The Last King In Scotland.

Resepct... :smokin

Poitier's acceptance speech in 1964.

Poitier's Honorary Oscar in 2002.

Denzel definitely won for Training Day.

But yeah...I can't respect Poitier until he acknowledges his son, David Oyelowo.

I thought Denzel won for Training Day? Was that Supporting Actor????

Oh damn, how I could I forget that. I was going off memory & totally forgot his win was for Best Actor & not supporting... My bad...

And, uh, hey, PM sent. mronegative mronegative Clear your schedule.

Denzel even won his the same year as Sidney's honorary Oscar.. so when he accepted he said "40 years I've been chasing Sidney, they finally give it to me. What they'd do? They give it to him the same night"

First poster for David Fincher's Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck. Trailer coming today

Another trailer for Anton Corbijn's A Most Wanted Man. TO me, Corbijn doesn't have a good record outside of the Depeche Mode vids he's directed but I'm looking forward to this John Le Carre adapted flick. Not sure how I feel about PSH & Dafore's German accents though...

^ Why did you have to say "Lee Daniels' The Butler" & not just "The Butler".

This looks interesting. Great cast too. Another one of PSH's final projects, Gods Pocket.

From Joey Ansah’s who a few yrs ago released Street Fighter Legacy live-action short film. He always wanted to make it something bigger and now he has. They got hte rights from capcom and now created a multi format series called Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist.

Premiering next month on Machinima as a 12 part series and then airing on TV, the series is about the coming of age of Ken & Ryu (the two iconic Street Fighter characters). Over the course of the series, we will see how the past, present, and future of all of the Street Fighter characters are intertwined.

The series stars Ansah, Christian Howard, Togo Igawa, Akira Koieyama, Mike Moh, Gaku Space, Shogen Hyunri, Hal Yamanouchi and Mark Killeen.

Thats the most frailest Ryu. I mean the actor should at least maybe put on some mass?
