Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

It would take wayyyyy too long for me to dive into this but I assure you it isn't because I'm looking for it to be a Seth Macfarlane show or wanna be cool

If i had to briefly describe the decline in greatness it would be that the show has no heart. Very few moments like the following:

700

Great points. It is lacking that meaningful feeling. Episodes nowadays are thin on value. I wanna watch the Eternal Moonshine episode again.

I have lofty expectations for Neighbors, and it has a lot to do with Zac Efron.

Rogan and Byrne have proven that they can make me laugh. Also, Hannibal Buress. But Efron turned in one of the funniest supporting roles that I have seen lately in Liberal Arts, and I have wanted more from him ever since. I don't think I've ever seen him in anything else, but I get the feeling that he can thrive in the comedic world.

Edit: Oh, McLovin and Jake Johnson, too? Even better.

I'm skeptical of Efron too.
I'm excited for Mini Franco though, especially after seeing that Robert De Niro impression in the trailer

Plus Dave was pretty damn funny in 21 Jump Street.

got a flight tomorrow, i've settled on August Osage County and The Royal Tenenbaums, and maybe Snowpiercer
i haven't seen either, though i'm not sure if watching Gwenyth Paltrow on a plane is good for my mental health

i suggest osage.

If you don't know the play, August: Osage County is a solid flick with solid performances by the whole cast. Love seeing Streep play kind of a bad guy like she did in The Devil Wears Prada. She's someone that's on the top of her game.

Tracy Letts' who won a Pulitzer for writing the play the flick is based on, also wrote the script for the movie.

The problem I have with the flick is Letts cut out a lot of the plot & great dialog which is a damn shame because I think it would've been worth a longer movie if it kept those elements in.

My wife wasn't familiar with the play really enjoyed the flick. She was like :x & when the story dropped a bomb about 2 characters. It's worth watching if you generally like movies.

Sam Shepard is one cool dude. He hasn't been in enough movies as far as I'm concerned. Letts' is also an actor who played Senator Lockhart in Showtime's Homeland.

I mean, as far as how I personally view films, with heavy emphasis on storytelling, dialogue and acting, Osage County is one of the best movies that I have seen in recent years.

Am I going to watch it often? No. Maybe more than 2-3 times total, even? Perhaps not. But, man... that **** was true excellence.

100% unfamiliar with the play, though.

LTB, I wouldn't say skeptical. More like hopeful.

Dave, on the other hand, I just usually want to punch in the throat.

I feel like That Awkward Moment might of actually been a really good movie without Efron. I thought Miles and MBJ had good chemistry, Efron was just so... Forced to me. I don't know how to explain it. But he ruined the vibe of the movie to me. He made it too awkward, which ironically just didn't work for a movie selling awkwardness as it's source of laughter.

Meh. We'll see if he redeems himself

Just read that...nope I'm out. First and foremost, they missed a huge opportunity to jump on this "miniseries" train,  FX's American Horror Story and Fargo and of course HBO's True Detective. They could have reached out to Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, or, probably a bit easier, gotten another actor to play a different role in the same universe. Tapped the same writers/directors and really made this into something worth watching. James Cole failed, they could have sent anther operative to the same time, to catch old dude in another city.

Also
it’s established that if Cole does change the future and save the world, he’ll cease to exist.
That makes no sense, he existed in the past, before the point they sent him back to.

I really liked that movie to, I'm part of a built in audience. All well, just another show I'm not watching.

Loved 12 Monkeys...so I'll peep regardless.

Crazy how trash The Lone Ranger was but how DOPE the final action sequence is. It almost made up for the whole movie.

I don't know if you've seen Lee Daniel's The Butler, but there's a scene where Oyelowo and Whitaker argue about Poitier.
Yup. Taking sly shots at dad. :smh:

I'd love to do a live action DBZ movie. So much allegory and potential in that universe.
I swear...between 300, Thor and Man of Steel, there is no part of DBZ they couldn't make work in a movie. And I don't care how little the first one made...if you can sell people on Guardians of the Galaxy, you can sell them on that...

I been patiently waiting since that fight in Matrix: Revolutions.

Leo needs to hurry up and be in Devil in the White City.
Never read the book, but I feel like I only want this movie to happen, because the title is awesome.

My feels. |I

That song in that Gone Girl trailer is horrible
There's the Affleck I like and the Affleck I don't like, and you can see him coming from a mile away normally. And it's not even really what he does in a movie, but just how it feels like they want him to come off and what kinda emotional heavylifiting he's supposed to do. The Town, Argo, Smokin Aces...those felt like the right kinda Affleck. Gone Girl almost feels like the wrong kinda Affleck.

The early reviews for Neighbors are in and everyone seems to love it.
Yeah, I never saw that trailer coming. I'm there.

That's funny because I usually want to punch Efron in the throat
Yup. But I'll admit...he wasn't bad in Paperboy.

Robin Williams to Return for Mrs. Doubtfire Sequel

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=117242
It's been more than two decades since Robin Williams proved the box office power of his Mrs. Doubtfire, the 1993 Chris Columbus comedy that pulled in more than $440 million worldwide. Now, The Hollywood Reporter  brings word that Fox 2000 has a sequel in the works with both Williams and Columbus attached to return as star and director, respectively. David Berenbaum (Elf) will provide the screenplay.

I'm glad someone else saw Liberal Arts because I liked Efron in that a lot.

Also, late pass but I finally started watching Broad City.. yeah.. it's hilarious. Watched the whole season in a couple sittings and I'm already rewatching it. Literally everything Hannibal says is funny. I love that guy.

anyone else like Legit? theres always a scene or two that brings out the laughs...

saw mandela the other day....Idiris Alba is a beast (prolly mispelled) Heard a rumor a while back he was being considered for James Bond. Don't know if it was true, but a black bond is long over due lol. and dude is so versitile i feel like he would kill that role

Kermode interviews Wally Pfister..

Transcendence still looks like it will wind up being a critical and commercial failure, but I'm still going to watch it to tomorrow to support Pfister. Unfortunately, this may wind up being like Niccol's, In Time all over again. :smh:

Anyone got any good Bollywood movies? Remember watching one back in 7th grade and it was dope but can't remember the title. All I remember is that there was this dude going after this girl he liked, them singing in the movie, think dude was dancing with his crew and her crew in some temple, and him riding to her house at night on his scooter/motorcycle. So many Bollywood movies so it's nearly impossible to find that title now.

That Shahrukh Khan was the one in the movie, I remember his face. Gotta go through his long credit history to see which movie it was. He must of been big. And I'll deff check some of these out, thanks man

Transcendence is getting crapped on by critics. Eh It was kind of expected from the underwhelming trailers, sucks cause I was initially really looking forward to it based on the early descriptions and that it was Wally's debut.

BTW, my movie watching rate has really slowed down since the Holiday/Oscar season ended. Only movies I've watched in the past two months are Cap 2 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (finally copped on blu :pimp:)

not surprised by the lack of praise for the film. It seems like it was too ambitious of an idea and a hard first film to get across by Wally Pfister. I think it will be one where movie goers simply leave very confused
